    Amazing you made that look so easy. I have 10 genestealers to do for a kill team this will be a fantastic help, thanks.

    We've got the kill team box set and we've got a ton of these to paint so thanks for this. Great way to get playing quick. Adeptus Mechanicus next maybe? 🙏

      These are from my Kill Team box too. I've not even clipped the AdMech off the spue yet so will give them a go in the coming weeks.

    I’ve had my GSC minis since the release of Overkill and still haven’t decided on a colour scheme ha, but although this is a speed tutorial, I think I prefer this as it gives them a more life-like, grim dark feel. Cheers for the inspiration 👍

    Quick, simple & looks great! I’m enjoying these painting videos as their bite size which I like. Good job 🔥

    This is really effective, especially considering how quick it is. I think a light coloured base would actually make the model stand out more, worth a try?

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks - appreciate the feedback. Yeah definitely worth a go - worst comes to worst just paint over it. I was just worried it may become the focal point being lighter. I naturally like to paint dark at the bottom but doesn't mean I'm right.

  • @ilkercamuz783

    The base coat used looks pretty dark here. Will Chaos Black spray give the same effect or do you still recommend Mechanicus Standard Gray spray? Lovely tutorial and got me in the mood to start a new army!

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The grey just gives you an option to show shaded recesses with the wash. You wouldn't see that on black so much.

    These look great! I just got some GSC guys as my first step into miniature gaming (gonna try out Kill Team). Appreciate the advice these look really nice. Do you normally glue the basing material before you start painting?

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Matthew, glad you found it useful. Yeah I tend to build the model, glue the basing material to the base and then prime. The paint helps seal the basing down.

  • @galan8115

    Stupid question here. When do you say light drybrush its like very very dry or that you apply very very light pressure? Or maybe both?

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both really Galan although all drybrushing uses very little paint but in this instance it’s light pressure to not over do it.

    The painting pat was quite dark and only when you showed the whole squad at the end it finally looked as it should and I could see how the purple cloth looked. Great painting advises, but I think it would be better to have more light while painting.

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. I realised this when editing and in subsequent videos if the model was a dark colour I've painted on a white background. Check out the one on painting eyes as an example. Appreciate the feedback too.

  • @mindful_mess
    @mindful_mess ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can this be done with a black primer?

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really - the problem is the washes need a lighter base to be able to show the detail. This would be lost over a black base.

    • @mindful_mess
      @mindful_mess ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How about a light grey primer?

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d start with whatever primer you want and then drybrush white over the whole model. Search for “Slapchop” to see the effect to get started. This will give you the best base to work from. If you start with dark primers you won’t see the colours over the top.

  • @jamesclinton8544

    Nice & simple... thanks, now all I need to do is learned to dry brush

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thansk James. What part of the drybrushing do you find difficult?

    • @jamesclinton8544
      @jamesclinton8544 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I still seem to leave to much paint on brush...so it comes out gloppy

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try just dipping the tip in the paint and really brush it off onto paper towel. Try it on the rim of the base to see how much comes off. You almost want nothing going on but the more you do it the more it builds up.

    • @WillCalwell
      @WillCalwell 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The simpler the better as far as I'm concerned. I'm painting a cadian kill team at the moment full of highlights and weathering and they're taking so long to finish. As I get older I find I have more patience to actually complete models but it's always good to have quick but effective methods as well.

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like to take my time on some models but then stuff I want to paint to film with never really gets seen close up and I may not play as often so always looking for efficient ways of getting stuff playable.
