    Step 1: Keep it simple, don't do anything weird or complicated, just be natural
    Step 2: MOVE YOUR ARM LIKE SPIRAL STAIRCASE

    Man, you saved me. I didn't know about that spiral thing. I always wondered about how pitchers look like they are "breaking" their elbows but is all about the spiral. Thank you very much

    You should do a drills series in which you give good drills to address things you talk about in this series.

    Learning how to lead with my elbow but also aim my forearm toward the plate gave me confidence to throw harder without blowing out my elbow! I wish someone told me this when I was 12

    Awesome video. It helps us coaches be able to teach better. If I can offer one suggestion, if you did this as a voice over to a video of you pitching in slow motion, it would help the points to be a little clearer

    Hey Trevor, could u show clips, pictures or stand up describing these body movements? It’s sometimes hard to visualize when your chest is towards the camera how the arm should. Also, having your full body in the frame could really show the full chain of reaction. (Maybe an idea for another video. Thanks for the tips

    Arm spiral and clearing the glove arm are the two keys I constantly have to harp with any of the kids I work with or players on my team. Once they finally feel it work correctly it’s amazing to see the lightbulb moment they have.

    Love the way u simplify things. I’ve got some kids who are so messed up because things were explained to them in a very complicated way. I also like how this video really complimented the lower half video. I’ve got some kids to watch and they have to explain your video to me, they are the coaches and I’m he pitcher. Will let u know how it goes.

    Your instructions are excellent! Wgat would really add to you instructions is show in slow motion each phase!
    Then show in its entirety the spirial that you talk about.
    1. Show the angle of the body as seen by the catcher (no open position).
    2. Show the forward foot plant position.
    3. Show the arm position as it begins to throw.
    Thank you!

  • @devn266
    @devn266 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    what they mean by throwing not being a natural movement is that while you do it instinctually, your body isn't made to throw it like that which is what causes the risk of injury. Its why you see baseball pitchers getting TJ and you don't see softball pitchers getting it. However, I agree it should feel like something you don't have to think about and the only way to get it right is to do exactly that. Focus on other things like taking momentum towards the plate, hitting spots, etc.

    Hey Trevor, thanks so much for making these videos. They've been a great help for me. However, I do have one question. I have a very flexible shoulder, and I need to consciously think about my arm not moving into a weird position, which messes with my timing and makes me stiff up. Any tips you could give me? Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

    Hey Trevor,
    Excel formation about the upper half and staying closed but I think if you could model it so people could see actually see what you're talking about would make this a perfect vid. I've tried to keep my shoulders close after my front foot hits but it opens way too early, how do you stay back? Please help!

    HI Trevor,
    Love the emphasis on leading with the elbow. Quick question, I have had pitching coaches tell my son to throw a football more often to help feel the leading of the elbow since most of the time players will have no problem leading with the elbow during a football throw. Do you see this as a good potential exercise or drill?

    When is the proper time in a at bat to throw a 2 seam instead of 4 seam

    • @kdiaz916
      @kdiaz916 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      And how do you indicate it’s better to throw a 2 seam then a 4 seam in a game

    • @jhm7170
      @jhm7170 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You probably want to see how a hitter reacts to your four seam, relevant to how your two seam moves. If your two seam moves away from a hitter, and their swing indicates they’re a hard pull hitter, its probably a good idea to mix in a two seam after a 4 seam on the outside corner. You already know he isn’t comfortable on that half of the plate, and after seeing a 4 seam on the corner, your 2 seam is gonna look the exact same until he starts his swing at which point it will exit the zone. All about the hitter. Theres no end all answer

    Throwing isn’t a natural movement that’s why players have shoulder issues. A natural human shoulder motion is more similar to a straight armed javelin throw.

    I've watched them all and shared with all the parents of kids I know that's appropriate obviously. I'm 45 YO lol and it's fascinating. Btw I love how people scream athletes are boring and never say anything...you say exactly what you think and you are an asshole. I use to by into that narrative and did a little critical thinking after all the MLB Network Radio stuff with Casey and others and figured out my simple mindset was the problem. What a world if even 20 athletes in each pro sport just didn't give 2 effs and said what was on their mind meanwhile being intelligent, having a point, and making an effort on multiple levels in their sport!
