Corwin Hyatt yeah true true but such a disappointing end for someone like Thrawn. I guess ‘Ol Palpy died in a similar fashion. Star Wars needs less betrayals and more deaths by going out fighting.
True, but, his mustache, friendly eyes and gut, make him look like a really jolly "Nice fat guy" who would sit back in a chair all day on like, a huge star destroyer, stuffing his face with doughnuts, rather than fighting.
Honestly, the reason why Thrawn was so effective wasn't that he was smart(because he was), but because he wasn't dumb. He didn't try to waste ships in grand fleet actions like other Warlords, instead picking battles that he could win. He was an actual strategist instead of a Hollywood strategist.
I know this is old but agreed, i think thrawn is a little over rated. He’s obviously a great admiral, but when you take into consideration that all of the best admirals died at endor, like tarkin and yularen, hes not overly impressive imo
@@Goldfinger1718 my point was that thrawn thrives in a vacuum of competition. All of the empires finest save a small few like pellion, (who wnds up submitting to thrawn anyways) were killed off, with the top admiralty gone, its not really hard to be a successful commander. Its not like the rebels have any good admirals save for ackbar
@@ethanstaaf404 I get your point but that really isn't enough for him to be considered overrated. You do know that throughout most of his campaign, Thrawn operated with a smaller fleet compared to typical Imperial standards, since the New Republic had the advantage by that point in the war. The fact that he was able to consistently outmaneuver and outplay his outnumbering enemies is a testament to his brilliance and adaptability, qualities that were unmatched by other admirals in that era. This is why I think Thrawn deserves to be ranked at the number one spot when it comes to ranking Star Wars admirals.
I always liked the Pentastar Alignment most out of all of the warlord factions, because Kaine seems like a fairly competent tactician, gathering allies and assets, focusing on defense and not being too aggressive, to not provoke the militarily superior faction that was the New Republic
Kaine wasn’t some evil space wizard who could turn up with a fleets of uber Dreadnoughts, or the spawn of MacGyver and Brainy Smurf. He was basically Star Wars version of Ptolemy I, he knew he couldn’t hold the empire together, so he used what he had to keep a very nice chunk. It’s realistic,

Had he not been stuck in the med and outer rims where support for the empire was waning, I think he would probably have brought the Empire back to the way it was and been the human Palpatine.
Another amazing video. I'm also impressed that you focused on the navy rather than solely the influence of leaderships on the navies in-question; making those independent videos and further exploring the differences between the different forces of the fractured Empire before the Remnant was formed.
You could argue that Kaine did a lot with his fleet in service to the Dark Empire, cutting through to the core of the galaxy from all the way out over Bastion. While that's likely due also to his tactical and strategic abilities, it's another factor to consider

Vanders That is why I said join/create the rebellion. The rebellion didn’t start till later in the Empires history but the Separatist Holdouts were very early on so I meant that right from the start Thrawn would create the rebellion himself, using the CIS Holdouts as his foundation.
I like the idea of CIS holdouts, but them being part of a "rebellion" is gross. They would just be a CIS remnant faction, like the Imperial Remnant - and you wouldn't consider the Imperial Remnant a rebellion would you? No indeed. Dark Empire is just the repeat of a dead doctrine. Zsinj tried too many times to revive prototypes as well as too focused on killing the new republic
@@pitied3744 Essentially, one big thing with pentastar was their *rampant* anti-alien policies, even worse than the empire but not just go on full genocide route. Khaine's faction sometimes worked with the main empire, such as providing some ships to Thrawn but otherwise they mostly stayed on their own until Dark Empire.
Make this a Galactic Versus episode: STAR WARS 2M Saber tank vs. HALO M808Skorpion tank(whatever type you want) vs. COMMAND AND CONQUER GDI Mammoth MK III I'd love to see which of theese tanks comes out on top.
The M808 has been replaced. Usually the good lord works in mysteries ways, but not today. the M820 MBT is 31 tons of straight-up, 150mm EP spewin' Dee-Vine intervention! If god is love than you can call the M820 Scorpion "Cupid"
I love Thrawn because he used what the Rebellion had against them, a small, but skilled group fighting a faction too spread out and overconfident. I always remember Luke talking with Talon Karrde about Thrawn. Luke says Thrawn doesn't stand a chance because the New Republic has too many ships and resources, then Karrde points out how that's how the Empire felt about the Rebellion. It's cool because of the switch around. I've heard it said the the greatest opponent is "You, but better", and that is very apparent with Thrawn. ...But that also means that Thrawn technically has the weakest Navy. Thrawn's death is the equivalent to Luke, Ackbar, or Leia dying. Everything will just fall apart afterwards.
Thrawn used the same tactics against the new republic that the rebellion used against the empire. The Stateless Strategy. The enemy could be anywhere and everywhere. Never knowing where it would strike. That is what made him so dangerous. Thrawn was basically the Star Wars equivalent of Sun Tzu. If he wasn’t assassinated he would probably have succeeded as the Pentastar alignment was in the process of committing its forces to Thrawn.
As much as I like Thrawn, his fleet was tiny, consisting of 6 ISDs. It’s a testament to just what he was capable of. Well, at least until he got the Katana fleet
This video was not about strategies, it was about available resources. The fact Thrawn was the only real threat besides Palpatine shows how skilled he is.
@EckhartsLadder This was a very well done!! It is concise, yet extremely informative. It was also very taut, having no extraneous information to beleaguer your overall metered and smoothly timed episode. You have gotten so very much better at producing and editing. I am thoroughly impressed and proud of you!!! I salute you sir, you are always striving to be better, and I can seriously respect that!!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❣️❣️❣️✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼🙆🏻♂️🙆🏻♂️🙆🏻♂️
Definitely subbing. You know your original canon shit, sir. Very impressed. I agree 100% with the ranking. If you add Razor's Kiss to Zsinj's column, he definitely has the upper hand on Kaine. Dark Empire is the one to rule them all. The power of the Eclipse neutralizes the dreadnaughts of the others. I would argue that is what the Eclipse was designed to do. Identify a massive ship, target it with the superlaser and annihilate it. Like you said in another video, it is quite unwieldy against fleets of smaller vehicles. The Byss forces had Assertor and Bellator ships, massive Word Devastators and the Galaxy Gun. This is in addition to many regular ISD II's and deadly droid fighters.
I would put the Alignment in slot 2. We don't know how big their fleet was compared to Zsinji but the fact they created a new cruiser design for their needs while the biggest design that I can recall definitely being created by Zsinji's faction was a fighter, which might not have ever reached mass production. To me that strongly implies that the Alignment had a much stronger support structure for its navy so while Zsinji;s fleet might have started stronger I don't think that edge would have lasted long enough to win a war between the two.
Solo Wing Borders Simple. Palpatine spammed Navy Crew Buildings on his protected worlds, knowing the New Republic AI doesn’t do raids, the only problem he had was that he left himself vulnerable, he should’ve known the Era would advance and he’d lose most of his shit if he died.
Thrawn had the smallest fleet and nothing more serious than Imperial II class but he brought the Rebellion to its knees, he brought down Admiral Ackbar without firing a shot, he attacked their Capitol and was only beaten when he was betrayed. He gave the Alliance such an ass kicking that years later the mere idea of him coming back nearly split the new republic apart. What good is a Navy with a large fleet of super ships when a brilliant man with a small fleet of mostly medium cruisers, a few large battleship carriers and his will and wisdom? It's not about size it's about how effectively you use it.
Could you do a one on Superheavy Tanks (GDI's Mammoth mk 3, The Rebel's T4-B, etc.)? Considering the doctrinal niche for massive tanks is so small, it'd be interesting to see which ones are best designed for their faction.
Why so many votes for Thrawn. Remember people we are looking at the fleets and the ships in those fleets not the people commanding them. I know Thrawn is badass and all but keep the fanboy shit out of it.
Angry Irishman Palpatine isn't the strategic genius Thrawn is and yet he's 1#. So if it was most effectively used wouldn't Thrawn for first not fourth? I don't know. It could be argued the Dark Empire caused more damage to the New Republic then Thrawn did.
I'd say that either Pentastar or Zsinj would end up being in first place. In my opinion, having a large fleet in being is better in the long run than a bunch of superweapons, supercapital ships and droid fighters that performed no better than the standard TIE/IN. Kaine going for "pocket battleships" by forgoing ISD's (due to economic reasons and the aforementioned large territory) and largely relying on Enforcers (despite them being only marginally faster and cheaper than Vindicators while posessing 40 less guns) also has a certain appeal, although I must admit that the Enforcer-class' effectiveness in it's role as a patrol ship is dubious at best since we never really see them in action (as with anything else from the Alignment, really) and I'm generally just biased against the entire "It's like an SSD but in black and it shoots lasers like the Death Star while being way smaller and btw Sheev is back, he never died"-thing that is the Dark Empire.
Could you do a comparison of the Starfighters of the empire proper, the SWTOR empire, Darth Krayts empire and the FO? or maybe just some other empires that used something akin to Tie fighters
I recently read the rogue squadron novels and I couldnt figure out how Isard only had two Imp Star Duce, one victory and the Lusankya at his disposal did the rest of the empire just refuse to follow her orders, were they all repressing rebels or was she just thaf arrogan?
Most of the Remenant didn't recognize her authority and Corescant was fairly isolated from the remaining Imperial systems. She was also that arrogant, which for someone who rose through the ranks of Imperial Intelligence says allot.
I voted Zsinj, because I feel like given your parameters they probably did have the next strongest fleet. Thrawn even at half the strength would be second, given how well Thrawn knew the others he may still be able to take second.
I'm honestly surprised the Thrawn didn't make use of more Victory class Star Destroyers (either variant). They would have been allot cheaper to produce while still being quite effective.
Best transforming fighter: VF-11 thunderbolt from Macross plus vs the Union Flag from Gundam 00 vs the Viking from StarCraft vs the Mecha Tengu from Command and Conquer.
I mean, by Thrawn's tactical philosophy, lacking those massive ships is actually advantageous. Relying on dreadnoughts and superweapons is impractical and wasteful in his eyes. But I guess you're right, from a certain point of view...
YES! Awesome video EckhartsLadder! I can't argue your choices. Palpatine is 1, Thrawn is 4. Zsinj DID have a second Super Star Destroyers for all of 10 minutes before Wraith squadron sabotaged it, so he Might be 2.
If only Sidius listened to Thrawn when he told the Sith Emperor to build more practical and flexible fleets of ships and advanced fighter squadrons instead of pooling gobs upon gobs of resources and funds into giant superweapons.
One note, Kaine abandoned all of Oversector Outer and moved his forces exclusively to the New Territories in the Galactic Northwest centered around Entralla. He made deal with 14 Moffs, five major corporations and slavers to ensure both economic self sufficiency and public support for his regime while only holding 14 Sectors. This made it easily defensible for the vast resources of Kaine and his backers. Other warlords like Delvardus, Prentioch, Sarne and Vandal seized the territory Kaine abandoned in Oversector Outer. His abandonment of the territory also directly helped the New Republic expand initially and led to further breakdowns in the Imperial unity in the Outer Rim.

Make this a Galactic Versus episode:
STAR WARS 2M Saber tank
vs.
HALO M808Skorpion tank(whatever type you want)
vs.
COMMAND AND CONQUER GDI Mammoth MK III
I'd love to see which of theese tanks comes out on top.
Also 40K Land Raider
Dark. Duke wouldn't that be the Leman Russ or the Baneblade?
The M808 has been replaced. Usually the good lord works in mysteries ways, but not today. the M820 MBT is 31 tons of straight-up, 150mm EP spewin' Dee-Vine intervention! If god is love than you can call the M820 Scorpion "Cupid"
@@lokalnyork No
Just no
40k just wins at everything so it’s not worth the competition for it to JUst be added
Amazing video as ever love your channel may the force be with you
OMG YES FACTIONS COMPARED!!!!! TIME TO SET UP MY FACTION ROSTERSSS. Thanks Eck! Notif Squad!
Please keep doing imperial warlord topic videos they are very good by the way good job on this video
All 12 Grand Admiral #SUGGESTION
I only know of Thrawn by name, were the other eleven ever expanded on?
Corwin Hyatt I have no idea who the other 11 grand admiral are. But I would like to know
if its not thrawns im rioting
Milk 7504
Agreed. But I think this vid may not include tactics but arsenal
As much as I like Thrawn, his fleet was tiny, consisting of 6 ISDs. It’s a testament to just what he was capable of. Well, at least until he got the Katana fleet
THATS IT. TAKE TO THE STREETS. NON BELIEVERS OF THRAWN BE DAMNED!
Thrawn had a tiny navy but managed to win regardless, that's why he's so awesome.
0:45 Boz Pity? The imperial reunification was at Tsoss Beacon
I like the Imperial Warlords section of legends it has a very realistic Russian civil war esque vibe
Please do more of these Imperial remnant faction videos!
I just want to know one thing: how the bloody hell did they get the crew for all those ships; especially DE!?
Clones and droids for DE I guess
Plus he United a ton of remnant factions
I HAVE ARRIVED ALRIGHTY ECKARTSLADDER
It's gonna be a great week!
They all have good fleets and all of the fleet and great video.
Why so many votes for Thrawn. Remember people we are looking at the fleets and the ships in those fleets not the people commanding them. I know Thrawn is badass and all but keep the fanboy shit out of it.
HCUhardcoreUnited It was the most effectively used, remember.
Angry Irishman Palpatine isn't the strategic genius Thrawn is and yet he's 1#. So if it was most effectively used wouldn't Thrawn for first not fourth? I don't know. It could be argued the Dark Empire caused more damage to the New Republic then Thrawn did.
HCUhardcoreUnited He's arguably on par with Thrawn, he engineered the downfall of the Republic, remember.
Yeah, I actually voted for the Pentastar Alignment for #2, even though I like Thrawn more.
Angry Irishman it seems like Thrawn is getting votes simply because well he's Thrawn. Even though he had the weakest complement of vessels available.
I'd say that either Pentastar or Zsinj would end up being in first place. In my opinion, having a large fleet in being is better in the long run than a bunch of superweapons, supercapital ships and droid fighters that performed no better than the standard TIE/IN.
Kaine going for "pocket battleships" by forgoing ISD's (due to economic reasons and the aforementioned large territory) and largely relying on Enforcers (despite them being only marginally faster and cheaper than Vindicators while posessing 40 less guns) also has a certain appeal,
although I must admit that the Enforcer-class' effectiveness in it's role as a patrol ship is dubious at best since we never really see them in action (as with anything else from the Alignment, really) and I'm generally just biased against the entire "It's like an SSD but in black and it shoots lasers like the Death Star while being way smaller and btw Sheev is back, he never died"-thing that is the Dark Empire.
Great video Eckhart's.
Lets see what the week holds. Can't wait to see what episodes will come during the week.
You could do a video on the 12 grand admirals. It would be cool.
every time you use that tie fighter animation, you should put that little warning you put on the first second of the guilty Luke video.
Do you have/could you make a video explaining the post-RoTJ Legends stuff with the Imperial Remnants? It's a whole era I know nothing about
Great video Eck
"We won't be looking at leadership abilities or admirals"- looking at you, Thrawn.
Eckharts are you a droid? Do you ever sleep? You make so many videos! That’s so cool!
this isnt directly related but in the part at 7:33 there are xwings and transports being deployed from an ISD, what transports is in that comic pic?
I love how Thrawn was beaten only with copius ammounts of plot armor.
Ardus Kaine: *existe*
Deadpool: "¿¡qué *insulto censurado* !?, ¡es el mejor nombre de la vida!"
Could you do a video on the 12 grand admirals you mentioned please
Should do a video on the best/say top 4 pirate factions in the Star Wars universe!!!
Awesome imperial officer Navy video
2:49 I find it so odd that someone came up with the Vindicator-class when the Enforcer-class already existed and is nearly exactly the same
The giant Eck's Jams tag made me laugh
When are you going the Covenant super carrier vs the super star destroyer? You said you would make another video when the books came out
I like the sound of that 7 day vs week
Could you do a comparison of the Starfighters of the empire proper, the SWTOR empire, Darth Krayts empire and the FO? or maybe just some other empires that used something akin to Tie fighters
@ 4:34 where do you find these pixelated animations of thrawn that I keep seeing on your channel?
Is it from a game?
Yes, it's Star Wars: TIE Fighter game.
I’ve always like the Pentastar Alignment for some reason.
Could you do the best transports : mtt, at-at, at-ot, and whatever else you can find
Kinda curious as to where you would put Daala's Maw Irregular Fleet
Eckarts ladder classic era videos
I voted Zsinj, because I feel like given your parameters they probably did have the next strongest fleet. Thrawn even at half the strength would be second, given how well Thrawn knew the others he may still be able to take second.
Last time i was this late the Zsinj's empire was still at war with the Mandlore's in the rp server oh wait
I'm honestly surprised the Thrawn didn't make use of more Victory class Star Destroyers (either variant). They would have been allot cheaper to produce while still being quite effective.
X-83 Twintail vs. Tie Defender (the Legends version)
I think that's a close fight
I mean there was that awesome battle between Pentastar and the new republic where the Reaper and Lusankya went head to head.
I would like to see a video on the various Light saber forms.
Yay! A week of factions compared
Best transforming fighter:
VF-11 thunderbolt from Macross plus vs the Union Flag from Gundam 00 vs the Viking from StarCraft vs the Mecha Tengu from Command and Conquer.
What about the late Admiral Phuun Axies, the Lord-Magnate of the Tingel Arm (he’s my own EU creation).
If it's feasible, a video about the unified Remnant might be cool.
Zsinj DID have a second Super Star Destroyers for all of 10 minutes before Wraith squadron sabotaged it, so he Might be 2.
hey just wondering, I really like your intro music. Do you know the band so I can look them up? i need some chill techno or electronic music
If only Sidius listened to Thrawn when he told the Sith Emperor to build more practical and flexible fleets of ships and advanced fighter squadrons instead of pooling gobs upon gobs of resources and funds into giant superweapons.
Which faction had the best general. Grievous, Kenobi or Yoda, Maidine, and Veers
please make the perfect troop/infantry role placement design please
Make one of which faction have the best ground vehicles
The neighbor from hello my neighbor is an imperial War Faction ? nice
Great video, I honestly thought Thrawn had more ships/firepower at his disposal.
Thrawn could take on any faction and win.
Sorry as someone who played Empire at War. Them Greater Maldrood Crimson Star Destroyers are amazing.
