I love how Ray goes from being the only adult to being a child in the next scene lol
'you've never worked in the private sector ; I have...they expect RESULTS'...😆...classic
You know how much a patent clerk earns?
That's the reason why people go into academia, so they don't have to produce any results! If you catch anybody who works in academia off guard they will admit to that very fact.
@@matthewnowell671 people "go into" acdemia for different reasons. People "get into" academia as a result of a lottery. This country produces somewhere between 10 and 100 phds for every academic position available. The fact that results arent an actual requirement is just part of those lottery winnings.
@@matthewnowell671 👌...& when academia will no longer support them, government will hire them, pay off their student💸loans & let them skate thru the rest of their lives on the dole, with NO results..a wasted existence...🙄
There's so many catch lines in this movie that if u quote them only a real Ghostbusters fan (like myself) would understand lol
""The franchise rights alone will make us rich beyond our wildest dreams."
oh the irony🤭
And it did actually
@@juanvargas-qz6vdthey weren’t talking about a movie franchise. 🙄
@@jessihawkins9116 hey shut up
@@jessihawkins9116there wasn’t meant to be a movie franchise. This movie was initially a vehicle for Aykroyd, Ramis and Murray. There wasn’t meant to be a sequel. It wasn’t expected to perform well at the box office. But 40 years later here we are
All the real estate and mortgage jokes went right over my head when I was younger!
"Everybody has three mortgages nowadays."
Decades later, the real estate agent would become governor of New York.
Indeed, We now pay attention to the mortage details as adults 😄
"call it fate call it luck call it karma" my favourite line from the first movie and maybe the whole franchise
luck*
@@The_GallowglassI believe we were destined to get thrown out of this dump. Great line too
I remember when they used that line for the Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer.
I thought he was going to break into song with that line.
@@Spectahman2.0I cried when I heard Ecto’s siren in that trailer
I love how a Crunch bar makes Egon happy.
Fun fact: Someone recently bought a firehouse in the South Side of Pittsburgh. Will keep my eye out for any guys in jumpsuits carrying nuclear accelerators.
If you do see that tell them I said hi
Don't forget to check for a big white car with lights on top and doesn't look like your normal emergency service vehicle, it might give some indication of what REALLY going on there!!
The Sahth Side, eh?
It will be turned into another bar.
@@16-BITFPV I spot the depressy
@@16-BITFPV how was that? 😃
I love how Egon just lists ways on how the building is not good for them, and the only thing that convinces ray is a fireman pole😂😂😂😂
The neighborhood is like demilitarized zone is still my favorite line .
And it's probably even worse today.😅
Actually it’s in Tribeca, one of the fanciest downtown short of Wall Street. I hear the firemen are friendly to the fans if you ask to see inside (obv not the same as the set exactly).
@@ericvannielsen may have to go check it out. Thanks
@@ericvannielsen Probably every single day since 1984.
Egon’s slow head shake” nooo” to Peter, then Peter immediately agrees to buy the place!!😂🤣
THAT is the sign of a true friend. Ray mortgaged his house to fund their business; so they settled for the crappy building Ray liked/wanted (but no one else did). I’d have personally at least tried to negotiate better terms for the building instead of: “we’ll take it”
@@NeoRazgrizThey were negotiating. They were listing the faults of the building, exaggerated or not, to set up negotiating for a better price. The moment Ray expressed how much he loved the building and was ready to move in, they lost all leverage which is why the agent got that smug smile at the end.
So I've identified the liquor they're drinking in this scene as Hiram Walker apricot-flavored brandy. Now I want to identify Dan Akroyd's coat in that scene.
Damn, you've answered a question I didn't know i wanted answered. Now i got to get a bottle of that brandy and put it with my Ghostbusters Funko Pop display. Thanks!!
I always thought it was a Kahlua bottle - thanks for clearing that up.
That bottle makes a cameo in GBFE! 👻
Distilled right in my hometown - Windsor, Ontario. Super cool to see it on film!
London Fog? he were pretty much the original makers in WW1. You could start there.
“You gotta try this pole!!”
Don't forget you g string 😂😂😂😂
When, I played the video game of 2009 that was the real third movie, I loved doing the pole sliding down thing all the time when you do it on Xbox 360 you score 5 winning achievement points on you gotta try this pole all the way.
@@drewharding I played the game in 1990
Bustin makes me feel good
The interest rate at 19% means he got a loan for $100k and with that money he was not only able to purchase that giant firehouse, but have money left over for the renovations and building the containment unit plus rewiring to accommodate power needs and build 4 nuclear accelerator proton packs!
The 80s sure were a wild time
If only money went that far nowadays.
“I think we’ll take it” love the delivery on that line. Makes me chuckle every time
i like it because they thought they had to play it to be a terrible price property because the guy had to sell his house, but he loved it and didnt care about his old place at all 😅
Imagine the egg on the dean's face when the Ghostbusters proved him wrong.
Well, depending on when the next movie is approved, if he's still alive by then, and if he agrees to it, I'm sure Jordan Charney's character will be very surprised. Or at least say he was surprised.
He's such a creepy guy
Everyone has their critics who don't believe in or support their work. JK Rowling got turned by a dozen publishers before finally finding one. One publisher said the books would never amount to anything.
2:16 I literally thought it was about to turn into a musical 😂
That would be amazing actually. Imagine Bill Murray singing a tune about being slimed?
I’ve thought that my whole life! Lol
He was actually in tune with the underlying music 😂😂😂😂
It was such a great movie. And in my opinion the special effects held up very well over the 40 years.
The Thing was also around this time, great special effects
big difference between special effects and only CGI. CGI is a special effects but its also only 1 of dozens of tricks they used to make things realistic
It was pretty decent of Venkman to let Ray buy the firehouse even though Egon thought it was in bad shape. I mean, it WAS Ray’s money after all.
@jime,
Egon knew it was perfect for them, but so as not to agree on the inflated asking price, he came up with a list of (supposed) deficiencies in order to have wiggle room to haggle the price. As you know... ☆
@@fjb4932I am quite certain you are correct… the neighborhood being a demilitarized zone was a good feature… you know… in case the containment field gets shut off.
Tha facial expressions of ray when Beckman gives Egon the chocolate bar! Priceless
It's Venkman, not Beckman
“Beckman”?
I was born in 83...Ghostbusters were my first love...I hold this film Sacred❤
I was born in 1967
Its a bunch of wavy lines.
84
I had a proton pack, trap, car, and a fire station that my parents scoured every toy shop for.😊
As one should. The 2016 movie was nothing short of blasphemy.
Also born 83 saw he second movie in the late 80s
"the franchise rights alone will make us rich beyond our wildest dreams"....well you just crossed the billion dollar mark, so well done!
I like to believe after Egon and Venkman tried to talk the price down, Ray deliberately acted like an excited child(well partially) to get back at them for making him mortage his parent's house.
No, he was just that clueless.
The very next day he bought them a barely working clunker for close to three grand which would require nearly the price of another car to fix up into reasonable working conditions.
But really, that was Venkman and Egon’s fault for sending Ray out on his own to make a big purchase.
how is this getting even when he's going to be spending more of his own money by ruining the bargaining process? by your logic he's a vindictive idiot rather than someone who is simply naive and overcome with excitement in the moment.
Why you like to believe such a stupid thing that would totally change Ray's lovable character?
probably one of my favourite scenes from the first movie its this and the stay and slimer the classics
the era before internet/cell phones!!!! better times
how to talk to a friend- you went there😅
Number 1. Ghostbuster movie blows every ghostbusters out the water except for the 70s ghostbusters.
A brilliant film, funny, sharp and something we’d not seen before. I love this film.
Rest In Peace Harold Ramis. 😔💐
3:47 Hey! Does This Pole Still Work?
3:50 *(slides down)*
3:52 WOW! This place is GREAT! When can we move in? *You gotta try this POLE!* I’m gonna get my stuff!
*(as I cosplay my favorite Ghostbuster, it’s really nice to see YOU here 😂)*
I always like the firehouse one of the things why I really like about the Ghostbusters
huh? that sentence makes my head hurt, periods or commas? grammar isn't very good either.
You liked the firehouse, one reason why you like the ghost busters? turned 3 sentences into 1 and cut down on 4 words....when being so verbose is actually a detriment.
@@ravinraven6913 yeah I have no idea what are you talking about I just said I really like firehouse
Ray standing in that pose declaring that they have to try his pole 😂
Peter and Egon looks at Rag when they were at the firehouse like "Damn it Ray!"
Every single line of dialogue and the body language in this 4.5 minute clip is infinitely superior to Frozen Empire’s best attempts at humor and character development.
This scene reminds me of what it was like to find a new place before the internet.
They found the right place pretty fast! 👍🏻
I think they may have used the same real estate agent for The Real Ghostbusters episode, The Boogieman Cometh.
This is way better of an introduction to the fire hall, than that never mentioned again 2016 thingy.
Take care, and all the best.
I can't believe Peter's drunken rambling would be actually inspiring and would be used in trailers.
The real estate lady was also Phoebe's boss in an episode of "Friends".
The actress is named Rhoda Gemignani. She was in tons of stuff back in the '70s and '80s.
She was a recurring guest star on Who’s the Boss.
@@VagrantZero84 Yes, I read that. It's been so many years since I watched "Who's the Boss?", I didn't remember. I'll have to see if I can catch it in reruns somewhere.
I know it's trivial, But where's ''I Can Wait Forever'' ?? At 1:26 the guy moving the Equipment had it playing on his headphones. But it's missing here. Always remember hearing this!
It was cut from later releases for some reason
Likely a music licensing issue.
Very soon sometime around next year I'll be getting a lego set of the firehouse
Great actors
I absolutely love this sequence...Extremely funny!
I never used to notice Egons shaking his head saying no
I always loved the emphasis the dean puts on "DOCtor" like he doesn't believe Venkman has a doctorate
"everybody has 3 mortgages these days" lol!
that was the 80s, borrowing money and barely paying it back...its one reason the USA has such a high debt and we can only pay off the interest.
Love this film so much
Get Her lol!
Where are we gonna get the money?? i dont know..i dont know. 😆 🤣
How did they get the Firehouse, Ray's inner child loved sliding down the pole and history was made for the Ghostbusters.
My favorite movie 🎉
I had the Ghostbusters Firehouse Toy playset as a child. I always thought it was a unique building. I'd buy it and I could make it a home or a video arcade.
I just noticed Ray said the possibilities are "unlimitless".
Im in my mid thirties and these guys in early thirties. I feel so old now but I look way younger lol
those dudes in early 30s? lol, im 35 and i look 25, these guys look 45 at least haha
@@votpavel ikr lol. Looking at them reminds me im next looking 45 one day.
I still think our generation looks good for our age.
This is cool ngl i watched the new movie
I cant help but feel that its was mostly Venkman's fault they were kicked out of university. I also find it rather ironic that they made the building work for them despite Egon's criticisms.
And his future wife gave him a does of his own medicine.
From some comments I've been reading, it was most likely some sort of scam that Peter and Egon were trying to get the price down but didn't bother informing Ray of.
The Dean was the best actor in the movie.
Mrs. Rossini was a busy lady.
2:17 Am I the only one that thought he was gonna break out in song and the whole movie was gonna be a musical from that point on?
Brilliant writing
3:32
Ahh brings me back to my childhood when I was 5 and they’d show this on HBO. The day’s of cable boxes and HBO Friday nights!
0:49 I like Ray's smile.
Just watched frozen empire a second time. It was great
did you catch the patched floor and ceiling in the garage level from when the containment unit blew in this movie?
So did I! I watched it a second time because I was supposedly dozing off for a bit the first time I watched it, lol. Glad that I watched it one more time!
Wow the Gostbusters are realy good people!
I'm always totally amazed at how much of this my 4/5 year-old self enjoyed and understood this. Kids entertainment has been dumbed down so much since these times. Early 90s for me. Think of a movie a 4 year-old watches today.
Que recuerdos cuando me lo pusieron mi padre
How many of y’all realized quickly that Egon listing off the problems the firehouse had was part of a con Peter and Egon were trying to pull on the realtor in order to get the place cheap, and Ray’s enthusiasm basically made them lose the chance to get the place cheaper? I never realized it until someone pointed it out to me.
Yeah, but the Realtor doesn’t control the listing price of the property.
@@ArmyJames Doesn't the owner of the property set the price after the property is evaluated, and the realtor can be used to haggle the price down?
"That's just New York commercial real estate." -- Louis Rossmann, quoting an actual real estate agent in 2020. Some things never change
More of this in Ghostbusters please. Best Ghostbusters movie ever.....and no Firemaster!!!!
he and Phoebe were the best parts of that movie. Well, them and Ray. I just hope they give Peter more to do in the next movie. Come on, you got Bill Murray, use him!
@@ExplorerDS6789Nah Bill is just in it for the money, he hates playing Peter in the franchise that's why he has less screen time than the other OG cast in Frozen Empire.
@@Spectahman2.0 and that's alsi why it took a hell of a long time to make a third Ghostbusters. I guess getting Murray to agree to a cameo is easier than getting him into a main role.
At 2.16 thought Bill Murray was going to start singing, the swelling orchestral incidental music.
Me, too. I think that's actually the director having a little jape with the audience. 😂
I think Nestle had an adverstising deal with some Hollywood studios. I remember seeing the Crunch bar in various movies from this era (Die Hard was another) and wanting to try it. I love that chocolate now.
LISTEN! do you smell something?
... 😂
"does this pole still work"
no the pole went bad
At 3:23 we see the building that will forever be in our minds!
What’s even more hilarious is that the neighborhood where the building is doesn’t even look like it does in the movie and there’s a subway stop on the other side of
Funny how Ray was worried about negotiating for the mortgage, but not for the fire house.
2:16 Hiram Walker apricot flavored brandy!
Yeah, I remember when Ghostbusters was a good show, too.
They should've revisited the dean and university in the movie after they became successful.
Might happen in a future movie.
So much better than anything that followed the original.
Me and my PhD research funding😂
4:03 Real estate lady seeing 💲💲💲
These are just SOO ICONIC!
They were talking down the price of the new place, then Ray ruins everything saying it's "great" and "it has a pole".
"They gave us money, facilities. We didn't have to produce anything." The only difference today, is to add "true" onto the end of that sentence.
We miss you, Harold. T^T
But at 19% you didn't even bargain with the guy.
"The possibilities are unlimitless"
Why is the music so loud? Is this an alternative cut?
Trust me, I'm wearing a tie today Professor😊
This is actually Ladder Company 8's quarters, FDNY.
Did Ray ever pay off that mortgage?
i feel like you don't see comfortable friendly exchange type scenes today in movies. everything is so intense, and it's clear the actors have drilled thousands of times and are trying to exude their character. this is more comfortable and accessible to me, imo anyway
Ninety five thousand dollars was considered an egregious and unthinkable amount of money in terms of mortgage interest in 1984
19% interest for 5 years, 95k.. ya i wish lol
Mr. Angelino
Miss Rossini
The only bad thing about Ghostbusters is that they did not make a new one every five years. It should have become a tradition. The all female reboot never happened. That's a myth.
Am I the only one that thinks it sound like at @2:15 bill Murray is about to break into song?
This Is going to sound Insanely Nit picky but is the audio mixing on this video messed up? I don't remember the music being so loud you cant here the actors speak
Does this pole still work?
Only tranistors are in the radios, the way it should be.
How much do we think that building "cost" in 1984?
