Sharron explains that transgender athletes should compete against others of their biological sex, not their gender identity.

Misleading title. She wanted to compete at the Olympics trials. Even if she was allowed to compete and qualified for the Olympics; she wouldn't be able to go. The IOC prohibits women who have gone through male puberty from competing in the womens' swimming events . I think diving and waterpolo are the same. This rule also applies to women who were born intersex and have elevated levels of testosterone. Lea has always been banned from competing at the Olympics. But there wasn't a clear rule yet at the US swimming federation that prohibits transwomen from competing at their events. And one of those events is the US Olympic trials.
I'm a trans woman who transitioned 20 yrs ago. I was always good at martial arts. When I went to clubs I told the instructor I don't want to spar with the women. I was always thanked for my honesty and fairness. I wasn't as strong as the men but I'd beat women hands down.
I totally support women's sports for biological women. We were born we can't get away from that, and I totally support Sharon Davies.
Separate open competition for all sexes is the way to go. Go Sharon!

I think there should be a shout here for Riley Gaines the American swimmer who was forced to swim against Thomas and was physically attacked by Trans Activists for speaking up for womens rights in sports and personal spaces. I believe her and Sharon are very good friends.

Best news ever. Not a fan of the wording of the decision by the governing body. Say it as it is. Men (trans) cannot compete against WOMEN.
The Olympics Organization should make this call. Their decision should be respected. Someone at win a law suit in one country while another country decides differently. They need standards and a process to test everyone across the board to make sure those standards are followed.

Not in terms of muscle mass actually. That's what puberty is responsible for. It's also why sports at school clubs can be mixed gender before puberty, but should be separated during / after puberty, otherwise you'd just be discouraging females in competing.
