Great vid. Another check to make is making sure Cabin Overheat is not greyed out in safety menu. if it is , as was on mine, the car is still in transport mode on one of Tesla’s systems.
Do you remember when you dictated/filled in what you wanted written on the v5c? I want to add my name and my business name but not sure if I do that at pick up or if tesla do it before. I've asked them but they haven't replied.
Good video, Rick. Cheers. Your checklist download doesn't appear to be working - would you have an actual download link for it instead of my having to put in my email?
Brilliant Rick, amazingly helpful video. Collecting my Model 3 LR in March so this will come in incredibly handy. Shame they’ve stopped the referral miles, otherwise I’d definitely try and help out. Really appreciate your insight into collection day. New sub here and look forward to watching more. All the best, Marcus
You won't believe this. I bought a brand new Toyota C-HR 3 months ago. The car is fine but doesn't have the ' wow ' factor. Yesterday I placed a lease order on a Tesla Model 3 Long Range. I know I will lose money selling the Toyota. I don't have home charging because I live in a flat. My daily commute is a round trip of 6 miles and I pass a Tesla Supercharger on the way to work. Have I done the right thing ordering this car? Please tell me I'm not stupid. Subbed to your channel.
Yes it does have the external speaker. We have been amusing our kids’ friends by using the emissions app when we arrive at their houses. Enjoy your Tesla!
Hey Rick, which finance option did you go with in the end? I have a LTD company here in the UK, how do you recommend I go about getting a Tesla? Thanks for the video 👍🏼
Well, I'm probably a little radical but instead of buying the car, I went with business contract hire via the LTD and invested £50,000 in TSLA instead. It's working out pretty good so far 🙂
@@rickontesla no doubt! I take it the 50k has been split across two tax years or you’ll pay tax over the £20k ISA limit? I’m waiting on a pullback for Tesla, the market sucked today and I anticipate Tesla may pull back to 850 in the coming weeks.
@@Corey_Kit's invested via my LTD company (an investment co, not my transactional co). The plan is to hold for the period of the lease so a minimum of 3 years. I do quarterly update videos on this channel reviewing progress.
@@rickontesla interesting, I didn’t know you could invest from within a LTD company. I’ll go through your videos this evening and get myself up to date. Have a top evening
Just curious at what point do you sign the contracts and make final payment for the car? Before inspection? In that case what if you're not happy with the car due to quality control issues and want to walk away from the purchase (extreme case scenario I know). I'm picking up my car next week but received a text from Tesla asking for final payment now. This is my first time buying a brand new car so not sure how it works. Obviously I have never paid before seeing a used car so confused why they can expect that from a new car, especially one worth £60k. Thanks!
I'm not sure if it's changed now but when I picked up my Tesla, you could return it within 14 days (can't remember exact no. of days) for a no-quibble refund. That applied as long as you'd done less than 1,000 miles I think. I believe nowadays, quality control is way better than earlier instances. I'd still recommend doing the checks though as you can get things resolved quickly and easily on site in most cases. Enjoy your new car day!
It’s unfortunate that these check need to be done at all ! It’s bizarre that Tesla owners see this as the norm ? I want a model 3 but there years away from the car I’ll eventually buy . To be fair all manufacturers have issues I know but this is a joke .
Did I understand that right? You configured your car, to require a PIN to be entered always before driving? This would be too much for me. Isn't the keycard needed to be placed into middle of the car anyway? So if someone crashes the door glass, he would anyway not be able to drive away, isn't it?
99% of the time I use the phone app to automatically unlock the car. If someone stole your phone, or access to your Tesla account they could drive off with your Tesla. Also, if like me you let your kids and their friends play in the front on the games, you never have to worry about them accidentally engaging drive and whatever disaster would ensue. All of the above benefits cost me only 3 seconds each time I want to start a driving session, seems reasonable to me.
Thanks for the informative video. I am collecting my SR+ M3 tomorrow so I found this video just in time. I will use the list when checking my car. One slight worry was the fact that I have only 7 days or 100 miles to report any issues. I'll probably do 100 miles on collection day alone and still won't necessarily spot any/all issues if there is any. Surely Tesla are obliged to resolve issues during the term of the warranty? Also what is two factor authentication? Apologies if this sounds a dumb question.
Hi David, if you use the checklist then you should cover all the major items. Then if you spot anything minor once you’re home I’m sure you’d be able to report those issues via the app and they’ll either come out to fix them or you’ll take it to your local service centre. They will honour any repairs required during warranty period and I think you have a period of time to return for a full refunded in absolute worse case scenario. I wouldn’t worry about it though, the production quality seems to have improved significantly in recent time. Finally, two factor authentication is an extra layer of security to secure your account. You need a dynamically generated numeric code to login to your account in addition to username/password when logging in. I hope you have a great collection day tomorrow 🤞
Thanks! Looks like the lead time on the Model 3 is about a month currently. I ordered the spec I wanted through their "Existing Inventory" and it was ready to collect within a 3 weeks and had 6 miles on the clock. Not sure if it differs much when ordering through the custom build option. Don't forget to use a referral code when you order to get your 1,000 free supercharger miles!
The build quality is much better and more reliable than it used to be. If I was buying ANYTHING for £40k-£50k then I'd be checking it over fully before accepting delivery of it.
It’s a joke. You should not have to go round a brand new car on collection day ticking off a checklist. It should be done by Tesla technicians at the factory
Getting a white with white interior next year but the red really shows off the white interior 😍
Thanks Rick, collecting my Model 3 tomorrow will use the checklist!
Great vid. Another check to make is making sure Cabin Overheat is not greyed out in safety menu. if it is , as was on mine, the car is still in transport mode on one of Tesla’s systems.
Thanks for the info, funny how TH-cam lined up three delivery day videos and they’re all at the Trafford centre.
I'm picking up from Bluewater in a Car park. Seems you were lucky!
Brilliant video, first time seeing your videos too. Subbed. Congratulations to all TSLA shareholders right now too 🙏😊

Thank you very much for the checklist. I’m from USA and waiting for my tesla to be delivered.
Have fun!

You're welcome J D 🙂

I could never have a car with a white interior. Nice colour though
Which charging cables does the regular model 3 come with now? does it come with the 3 pin plug charger only or also include the type 2 blue cable?
It comes with both cables
are they still doing the referral scheme do you know? wanting to place an order in the next day or so.
No, they closed it down quite a while ago unfortunately!

I don't think you'll have any regrets, especially with a supercharger so close by!
Thanks. When do you settle up! Do you pay the balance on the day of collection ....?

Is it true that the quality checking on the cars coming out of China is much better than the made in the USA models?
Quality control is way better nowadays for sure.

How do you generate referral links to get free charging?
Hey Asim, unfortunately Tesla retired their referral programme a few months ago so there's no way to get a referral link sadly.
Is it necessary to actually look for all these manufacturing faults? Is the build process that unreliable??
