Hi Mallory, I checked out the link but it didn't have what I was looking for: How often should I brush my cats teeth? Also, should I have a tooth brush for each cat or can I use one and wash it each time?
Hey Mallory, do you think those plaque off powder will do the same job as the toothpaste or the dental treats? Since my cat rejects my offer for cleaning her teeth, I am thinking about other ways to get rid of the potential plaque.
My cat loves the taste of Virbac chicken flavored toothpaste, and jumps onto my bathroom counter to ask for a tooth brushing session every night before I start my night time routine. He’s very food motivated, so it only took him about 3 days to get into this habit. Before I started brushing his teeth daily, I was so worried that he will hate me for it, but turns out he makes sure I brush his teeth even when I get lazy.
I just got my first cat of my own (not a shared family cat) and your videos have been a GODSEND honestly thank you so much. I feel so much more confident in giving a happy and healthy life to my kitty :]
There’s no such thing as a family cat, cats will still choose someone in your family as their “favourite” and treat rest of the members as their “staff” or the underdogs
I had no idea they have dental cleaning for cats!!! I can't believe I never heard or thought of that. You just saved my baby from dental disaster! Thank you!
I have learned to put a cat tooth gel on top of the dental treat you show. My cat really goes for it this way. Vet said to keep doing this because her teeth are pearly white and gums nice and pink.
I was flipping a house 3 years ago and this big tom cat showed up and he head looked huge because of all of the testosterone...like a lion, I've never seen a male cat like him. The neighbor said he was a stray and of course I took him home. I took him to the vet because he had really bad breath and the vet had to sedate him and pull most of his teeth, his lower left jaw has teeth and the rest is gone. Poor thing. He eats wet food and does fine. He is around 11 years old now and I will be brushing what is left of his his teeth. I had him neutered and he's like a dog now, very loving.
Interesting, good info. Thanks for posting :) One thing - the small tooth benefit of kibble isn't abrasion - it's blood circulation. Wet food stimulates zero blood circulation throughout the gums. Good blood circulation requires regular chewing and crunching, which cats were made to do. Good blood circulation assists with good mouth health. I've done 40+ years of animal care - pets, farm animals, and wildlife rehab, and I've been researching raw since 2009. Raw feeding including bones is the absolute best for teeth. However, ***I don't take a raw diet lightly*** - All but one of my pets are on partial raw. All except one get to choose from raw, fresh cooked, wet, and dry kibble, portioned out carefully twice a day. I have one recent rescue, Major PUR, a Siberian, who came with a wound to the roof of his mouth. He'll need two more surgeries to get it closed, and it's a challenge getting food into him in the meanwhile. He does the best with partially frozen, broken up raw. I really hope more people will *learn* about raw and consider it - I can see the benefits. But it's extremely important to RESEARCH FIRST! A lot! Doing it wrong can do serious damage. In all my years however, I've seen many pets get sick on manufactured kibble and canned food - for me it's only been the cheaper kinds. None of my animals have had bad results from the raw, and it's the best thing I've ever seen to clean their teeth. I don't go to extremes, I see the value of all of it. I do TNR with feral cats, and i'm very glad there's easy to buy and use kibble for the farm folks and other people taking care of all the cats that lazy losers dump on them. One of my cats is a farm feral who was starving because she was rejected by the colony, and the farm wife begged me to take her or she wouldn't survive. Masquerade will ONLY eat kibble, that's it, and she's absolutely gorgeous and healthy! Major PUR would get very sick on just kibble. They're all individuals. For toothpaste, I use Verbec C.E.T. toothpaste, and ALL my pets LOVE the chx flavor. Makes it so much easier to brush! Thanks for sharing your experiences.

My poor kitty had most of his teeth extracted at the shelter before I had him :( I'll have to check out some of the resources and products you linked so I can take good care of his remaining teeth. Helpful Vancouver Vet has a video all about cat dental health that made me feel a lot more comfortable about taking a cat in for a dental cleaning at the vet if I needed to, if anyone is interested about that. thank you Mallory, this video is so informative and helpful!!
I have always know dental health for cats is so important yet so overlooked because brushing teeth for most cats is a battle. I have 3 11+ yrs cats and all have tartar and red gums. I took my 1st cat to my new vet and it was about $1000. That included three extractions. I know some of you said to shop around but my cats are very stressed in car rides and they are my kids, so I will pay the costs. But now I will be more vigilante on their ongoing dental health. This was some great information and I will look for some of these products.
I've been using the vetoquinol toothpaste by putting a little bit on a treat. I adopted a bonded pair (not littermates, both about 7 months old) from a shelter a month ago, and they will not let me touch them yet. I've tried giving them the toothbrush to lick, and they're not fans yet. I think we'll get there, but for now I'm glad that the toothpaste at least does some work without brushing.
I have tried a number of dental diets for my cat and they have really helped. Hills t/d and Science Diet oral care are quite large and force the cat to chew and produce more saliva, additionally there is an interlocking fibre technology that scrubs the tooth rather than just breaking apart like regular kibble. The Royal Canin Feline Dental Veterinary Diet is also large and has abrasive nature, I have found this one is great for cats suffering from gingivitis as it also has a chemical component which prevents plaque from forming and an additional benefit of giving very fresh breath.
So helpful! I adopted my cat off the street and she had very bad dental health, having to get four teeth pulled! Will definitely be using some of these products going forward!
FWIW, I use a surgical toothbrush from Curaprox for my cat. It’s a little red one, meant for people who’ve had mouth surgery or radiation so it’s tiny and super soft. I really like it (cat doesn’t. 😅 But she would hate others more, I think). For toothpaste I use Aptus Bucacat and she seems to really like the taste of it. I usually let her lick the majority off my hand (you’re supposed to use ~2 cm) because it’s supposed to still work and she’s really not a fan of the toothbrushing in itself. Especially on the molars. Just a recommendations for others in the EU who might not have easy access to the products mentioned in the video. 🙂
I think with brushing your cat's teeth, the most important thing is to try your best. It's not easy to get access to your cat's whole mouth every time, but with consistency, you should be able to get a decent amount of coverage and help to make your cat's mouth cleaner than it would be otherwise.
@@AllAboutCatsYT Thank you! Yes, definitely, brushing a bit is better than nothing! Luckily my cat doesn't hate me brushing her fangs and front teeth (she starts to hate me if I do it every day so for now it's 3 times a week) so at least I constantly cover those :) will keep trying to reach the molar bit by bit...
I brush my cat's teeth on a regular bases. My cat can not get her teeth cleaned because she is allergic to anesthesia. So I do what I can several times a week. I use cat tooth past from the vets.
After a dental on my cat, my vet informed me that it does matter the type of brush you use on cats it should be made specifically for cats due their enamel being thinner.
There’s also some cat toys by petstages that can help with dental hygiene, not sure how good these work, some are like rubber material and some are soft with a mesh material over, they are probably more suited for kittens, but I think any cat that chews the toy a bit while playing this could help, my cat has a couple of them, they seem really well made. Obviously it’s best to use the multiple methods such as a cat toothpaste, brush, dental treats and chewable toys, maybe with a bit of everything our cats teeth and gums will stay healthy
Have you ever tried emmi-pet? That's brush that works with ultrasound so no brushing required and it does not even vibrate or make any sound. It works great for dogs - does anyone have experience with cats?
My kitty loves chewing on silvervine sticks. I never hear much about silvervine, but it seems to me like something that is probably beneficial to his oral health, since the wood scrapes against his teeth, he uses his whole mouth in the process (front teeth to nibble and peel the bark, back teeth to chomp, and middle teeth to gnaw and chew), and it's natural, so I don't need to worry about questionable additives or ingredients. It's also a source of fiber, so probably helps with his digestion. The biggest benefit is probably that he doesn't need any help from me. Any thoughts or opinions on silvervine or other similar types of natural chews either overall or just in terms of dental hygiene? Should i squeeze some kitty toothpaste onto his sticks for good measure?
I have the same issue surrounding ingredients - there doesn’t seem to be any VOHC cat treats that don’t have fillers as a first ingredient. I bought the Purina dental treats recently and the ONLY thing i like about is its size - it’s the only treat my cat has to chew due to its shape/size (good for large breeds). Just makes me feel strange that it requires up to 17 puffs daily of something mostly made of corn. Looks like good ol’ brushing is the best way to go (my cat thinks Virbac is a giant churu tube and loves the stuff)
I agree, R C. The fact that 17 treats per day are necessary to deliver the benefits definitely takes these treats down a notch. Thank you for commenting.
Comprehensive and informative. No address of additives to drinking water, however. I had to cancel my cat's appointment for teeth cleaning under anesthesia. The receptionist could not pin down the cost for a procedure without problems. But upwards of $200-400 dollars is beyond my means until I pay down $1800 in credit card debt, which will take seven to eight months to accomplish. In the interim I shall employ the methods discussed in this video to hopefully keep real inflammation at bay.
Hi there. That's a good point-while I didn't mention water additives, these can be a viable option if your cat drinks water on a regular basis. The VOHC has approved two water additive products for cats, both of which are from petEssentials. You can learn about them here: www.vohc.org/VOHCAcceptedProductsTable_Cats.pdf While it can't remove that tartar, home maintenance can help to prevent disease progression, and you should see good results during the coming months.
@@AllAboutCatsYT Oh, thank you for your response. I want to do right by my "Gordo", but I cannot incur debt that I cannot honor. I worked as a bankruptcy paralegal until five years ago and the office had many, many clients who reached critical mass after incurring vet bills. My desire is to maintain us both along life's journey while paying the freight.
I use this toothpaste both for my cat and dog: at Amazon bought product and they really like the taste and easily let me brush their teeth. Thank you for your videos
I adopted two cat brothers two months ago and just started brushing their teeth. They both tolerate brushing well, so it won't be an issue brushing their teeth once a day. My last cat lived to 17 but lost over half of his teeth by the end of his life. I want to take better care of my new cat's teeth this time around so want to brush their teeth regularly.
My 2 boys came to me at 3 months old. At age 2 I tried using Greenies. Tigger never liked them but Buck pulled the bag down eating almost all of it. He has never eaten Greenies since. They are now 10. I am putting chubbos on restricted wet diet. Both have lost about 1.5lbs in 4 months. Meal schedule is 3xday and both cats are more attentive and interactive. Brush time on cat wheel.
Got the catnip flavor on impulse, when picking up litter. My cat just inhaled them rather then chewing. Thinking that kinda defeats the purpose. Looked up the greenies TH-cam channel and the comment section is disabled. Not a good sign.
The Petsmile applicator swabs are awesome. One of my cats doesn’t like the toothbrush but accepts the applicator swabs and it’s great for getting that toothpaste on her teeth so the enzymatic toothpaste can get to work on the plaque
Sarah I bought the pit smile toothpaste it had a big toothbrush small on one end and big on the other four dog which my cat hates ant but I didn't see any applicator things in there that you talked about are they like a Q-tip or something maybe I could use a Q-tip my cat fights me terrible I can't even get it in her mouth I end up putting it on her foot and she licks it off I don't even know if that will help and of course she hates me for it and she knows at night when I'm going to do that and she runs but her teeth are bad she's only four and a half years old only eats wet food has already had five teeth pulled last month
Your cat is calm I got to put my cat in my cat in the bag which I highly recommend I get an alnatural from Chewys but I’m having trouble with back molars his front teeth are clean but he been having dental all his life from Banfield, I’m afraid for him to get his covered dental work I’m trying more products from Chewys.
my cat HATES when i brush his teeth, so i'm very excited to try the vetoquinol toothpaste. although honestly, he has kind of a bad personality and he's very annoying and bratty so i have a feeling it won't matter 🥴 but it's for his benefit
Very helpful video. I am going to look into pet insurance. Do any of them cover cleanings? I'm putting together a notebook before adopt a kitten. Even thought I have owned cats, there were aspects I missed the mark. I wold feel more confident doing my homework. Thank you for your videos ~ Diane
Some of them do, but you'll need to get a wellness or routine care plan attached to your standard policy. You can learn more in our video on the best cat insurance: th-cam.com/video/9fD9WNBeTSI/w-d-xo.html
I got my cat about 2 weeks ago, lately his breath has started smelling pretty bad and his poop is orangish sometimes smelling absolutely horrible. I realize my cat has a horrible fiet and limited the food and spread out his meals more. But his poop is not soiled and breath has only gotten worse. I would try wet food but i dont want to hook him on something potentially bad for his health since hes already 13 pounds.
I would like to try but couldn't find it here. If Kojima is okay, I will give it a go since the price is not to high too. They said, they used some kind of acic as an "enzim" to help prevent tooth plaque
I recently got adopted by cat and the doc said she about two to three years old and they said she has some tartar build up on her teeth and I’m terrified to try to brush them but I’m gonna try wish me luck thanks for the tips
My cat has already got tartar. And probably i can see some kinda toxin effect on her body (kinda yellowish fur where she licks) can these toothpaste able to remove tartar slowly? I just wanna avoid any anaesthetic procedure
Have you tried the Proden plaque off powder? Would you recommend it? Of course it won't replace the brushing with real toothpaste but I was wondering if it could help(:
Wow this is so informative I had two persian cats twins seven month old... One of which died recently due to excessive hydration and wrong treatment by a veterinary doctor I am myself a doctor but a human doctor so i have one question for you i lost my one cat just a week back now i dint want to loose it's twin brother he has developed gingivitis may be secondary to herpes or calicivirus... I want to ask you if i can give human b complex tablet in powdered and diluted form and second if I can give a human chlorhexidine mouth wash to him... What percentage of chlorhexidine is required in cats to give them a mouth wash so that I can dilute human chlorhexidine mouth wash to clean my cats mouth he is really suffering otherwise he is very healthy he is 4.5 kg and gut healthy please answer me about chlorhexidine and vitamin b complex tablet so that I can save my cat...
I have a friend that has three cats and she loves Wysong Denta Treat. It’s a powder sprinkled on the food that has cheese enzymes in it. Any thoughts on this product?
On a serious note, two out of three of my cats need some dental work. Sadly, those are the same two who have other health issues and I am afraid of the anesthesia. It is difficult making these judgement calls. Lighter note, Wessie has always appeared to be cooperative in these videos, but based on his body language, I am guessing if he could do his own rankings this one is at the bottom. It has been helpful for us cat parents though.
I just checked and it seems we can't get any of these products from Amazon Canada. Please let me know if any Canadians know where to find these - I checked Pet Valu and Pet Smart, they don't carry these products either.
I got a powder you put on the cats food,I check on the name later,it's 4 am in morning while watching this and can't be bothered to get out of bed to check.😁😼
How did you get them used to the scent of the powder? I have one too called PlaqueOff, but when I sprikled it on he knew something was different and left it. Did your cats not notice?
I have a 22 month old cat I rescued 6 months ago. Her gums look healthy and teeth pearly white, but her breath stinks. I'm disabled and poor, but of course, I want what's best for her. I wonder if ɓrushing her teeth would be enough at her young age or should I get her a professional teeth cleaning. Do most people start professional cleaning at age 3? Banfield has a pretty good wellness plan that includes dental cleaning, maybe I'll start there and add at home brushing. I hope she lets me...
I would lean towards healthymouth's water additive, which has undergone clinical trials to demonstrate its efficacy and contains salmon oil to attract the cat to water. www.healthymouth.com/Articles.asp?ID=253
Can you do a video reviewing calming cat products ? I’m looking to introduce my cat into traveling but she is very skiddish of loud sounds . Whenever she goes outside if it’s very loud outside she will immediately come running back to me /inside the house . So I don’t want the introduction to riding in the car with me to be too stressful . And of course if calming products are not okay/reccomended by you that would be valuable information to us as well ! Thank you !
I agree with Jackson Galaxy on this. Putting your cat under stress everyday trying to "brush teeth" for what is very minimum results is not worth the little benefit it gives. Brushing teeth won't remove hard tatar. I am surprised you didn't look at more natural options such as raw bones or silvervine sticks.
Hello:) I want to try and start brushing my cats teeth, I have two cats. I was wondering, if I want to use a toothbrush, should I get them their own toothbrush or can I just use one for both? And also, should we be brushing their teeth twice a day like with humans? And if not, how often! Thank you so much:)
Hi! Good question. They can. There's one water additive that I'd recommend; it's from Pet Essential's healthymouth line and has been approved by the VOHC. www.healthymouth.com/pet_ESSENTIAL_healthymouth_p/hm-luv.htm
Nice comprehensive video. I will have to ask tho, where are you going where a dental procedure is only a few hundred bucks? cuz uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. its like 1k minimum everywhere i am
thank u. great ideas and thoughts i got tiger her teeth cleaned and 829 dollars but she had couple extractions unfortunately. the vets brought her to in past while expensive did not do a thorough job checking her teeth. there are water additives also but some cats wont like them. that is an issue i have with tiger. best to always get the cat x-rays with facility so the d.v.m. can see gum and any abscess or anything-so crucial. so treats is a bummer as they contain lot of bad stuff i learned from your video but just hoping they might help tiger some. never knew about them leaving a film-wow. she wont let me brush. i don't think most cats will unless trainer earlier and they get used to it not fearing it but see it as fun. i will get her a good cleaning each year. there are great board certified animal dentists too but they are not cheap of course. u r awesome thanks for a great video love your shirt too.
I whish that my cat will let me clean her teeth But she wont let me But when I get our New kitten in a few weeks I will try brush his teeth 🐾😸and do you have any tips for 6 hour drive will be less stresfull 🐈I saw a cat bad to go in cat carier and a few toys I put valerian and cat nip toys in and I will by valerian trits too shuld I put something alse in carier 🐾🐈🐈😻Stay safe 💖 😻🐾🐈And I love little clip of Wessy 😻😻it was so cute 💖
Not sure how big your carrier is, or how you are traveling. but do you have space for a litter tray, or maybe part way through the journey you can offer your cat a litter tray. I have seen they make travel litter trays, some fold flat then part way through the journey you can open it and put some litter in and some have a zip over to keep the litter inside. Also make sure you have water available to your cat. I hope your journey goes well
Hi Glorija, good to see you here! Here's an article with a few tips to help you take the stress out of traveling with your cat: www.wildernesscat.com/how-to-travel-with-cats-stress-free/
Yes I wouldn’t start brushing at that age but if you get your kitten used to you opening their mouth or maybe putting your finger in with some gauze round it, that will really get them used to it, then toothbrushing should be much easier for you both when you do start 😊 also Petstages have some toys that cats and kittens cat chew, tho make sure you supervise you kitten with them
Hi Brayan, the others here have provided great tips! This is also a good time to establish a healthy dietary foundation and encourage your kitten to try some more challenging foods. Good luck!
Hi Caroline, good question. Perhaps it would have been a good idea to mention water additives. There are a few on the market that seem to be effective, including one that is on the VOHC list of approved products for cats. You can learn more about it here: www.healthymouth.com/pet_ESSENTIAL_healthymouth_p/hm-luv.htm
My cats won't let me get any tooth brush in there mouth so I take the treat route but I give them a couple times a week more like 1 time. I'm still trying the toothbrush but no luck so far

Excited to try this. One of my cats is teething so it might be a good time to introduce this habit, since he loves biting stuff
Good luck!
Plaque Blaster is good, and doesn't require brushing. It cleared up my cat's troublesome diseased mouth.
Sounds interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Sounds good
You are seriously so awesome and educated its great, I'm excited for more of your videos.
So cute watching Forest eat the treats ❤️
There’s also some cat toys by petstages that can help with dental hygiene, not sure how good these work, some are like rubber material and some are soft with a mesh material over, they are probably more suited for kittens, but I think any cat that chews the toy a bit while playing this could help, my cat has a couple of them, they seem really well made. Obviously it’s best to use the multiple methods such as a cat toothpaste, brush, dental treats and chewable toys, maybe with a bit of everything our cats teeth and gums will stay healthy
I wish I started brushing my cat's teeth when he was a kitten :-( But we are working our way up to it gradually. Thanks for the info!
Have you ever tried emmi-pet? That's brush that works with ultrasound so no brushing required and it does not even vibrate or make any sound. It works great for dogs - does anyone have experience with cats?
Very excellent advice for anyone who wants to give there cat the best dental care they can. Top notch.
I've never heard of Silverine sticks. Thank you!
You can learn about them here: www.vohc.org/VOHCAcceptedProductsTable_Cats.pdf
While it can't remove that tartar, home maintenance can help to prevent disease progression, and you should see good results during the coming months.
Anyone else get the weird urge to brush their teeth while watching this video? 😂
Hi Mallory, Which dental care water additives safe for cats?
Brilliant video, very clear, well presented and to the point. Lots of good information. Gorgeous Kittie...
Your explanation of wet and dry cat food won my like.
My cat was just diagnosed with gingivitis and is having a cleaning in a couple weeks. Going to try these at home products as well
Your cat is calm I got to put my cat in my cat in the bag which I highly recommend I get an alnatural from Chewys but I’m having trouble with back molars his front teeth are clean but he been having dental all his life from Banfield, I’m afraid for him to get his covered dental work I’m trying more products from Chewys.
Helpful, instructive, user friendly video on dental health. Thank you!
Thanks a lot hun I was needed to watch this
Thank you I love all of your videos.
I didn’t know cats needed their teeth taken care of 😭 now I’m here searching for something that my cat will enjoy
my cat HATES when i brush his teeth, so i'm very excited to try the vetoquinol toothpaste. although honestly, he has kind of a bad personality and he's very annoying and bratty so i have a feeling it won't matter 🥴 but it's for his benefit
Thanks for all this useful information!
In my opinion, it's best to put away money in a separate account for yr pet😉
Do you have an opinion on Proden Plaque Off?? I'm a little nervous about the levels of Iodine in it.
Very helpful video, thank you!
Incredibly informative as always
Excellent video young lady
th-cam.com/video/4fGotYwTD24/w-d-xo.html
I recently got adopted by cat and the doc said she about two to three years old and they said she has some tartar build up on her teeth and I’m terrified to try to brush them but I’m gonna try wish me luck thanks for the tips
I love seeing Forest in your videos! ❤
any recommendations on products to add to water?
Thanks Mallory for this information in cat health. 😺👍
Very informative video, thanks
I learned a lot. Thank you. Excellent video. 🐾🐾🐾
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching.
My cat has already got tartar. And probably i can see some kinda toxin effect on her body (kinda yellowish fur where she licks) can these toothpaste able to remove tartar slowly? I just wanna avoid any anaesthetic procedure
Good tips on the toothpaste TY
Have you tried the Proden plaque off powder? Would you recommend it? Of course it won't replace the brushing with real toothpaste but I was wondering if it could help(:
this!! I'd love to know.
I second this! I've been using it on my Billie, but it would be great to know what others think. :o
Have you ever looked into vetriscience dental bites, if not could you please..i see them at Amazon and they look decent but i dont know
Thank you for your recommendation. My cat loves Vetoquinol, the only toothpaste she accepts
after a year, she still loves it!
My late cat did not like Greenies...yours are so cute!!
I would love to see you add a phosphorus count on a Dry matter basis mine has ckd and this is very important to me
Good requests!
Can you use a fresh breath additives (Liquid) in a water fountain?
Excellent video.😉
Great video and very informative thank you 😺
Baby tooth brush is great to use 🙂
I just checked and it seems we can't get any of these products from Amazon Canada. Please let me know if any Canadians know where to find these - I checked Pet Valu and Pet Smart, they don't carry these products either.
I got a powder you put on the cats food,I check on the name later,it's 4 am in morning while watching this and can't be bothered to get out of bed to check.😁😼
Pets purest,plaque pro
How did you get them used to the scent of the powder? I have one too called PlaqueOff, but when I sprikled it on he knew something was different and left it. Did your cats not notice?
@@JakeTheHappyGuy No she not notice any different.
@@JakeTheHappyGuy my cats don't mind plaque off! And it made such a difference even on my dog, who already had tartar. Maybe mix it with wet food?
Very helpful...thank you!
So so helpful!!! Thank you!!!
What do you think about oxy fresh water additive?
Can you do a video on giving your kitten and adult cats vitamins??
How often should you get professional teeth cleaning? In my area the starting cost is $1000 and I can’t simply afford that
Once a year, ideally.
@@AllAboutCatsYT do you any insurance that compare dental. Many i have look into (pumpkin, embrace and lemonade) dont cover dental care
What about water additives? Are they effective?
That cat got its teeth brushed for the whole year in this video 😂
Hello:) I want to try and start brushing my cats teeth, I have two cats. I was wondering, if I want to use a toothbrush, should I get them their own toothbrush or can I just use one for both? And also, should we be brushing their teeth twice a day like with humans? And if not, how often! Thank you so much:)
Do water additives work?
th-cam.com/video/4fGotYwTD24/w-d-xo.html
Hi! Good question. They can. There's one water additive that I'd recommend; it's from Pet Essential's healthymouth line and has been approved by the VOHC. www.healthymouth.com/pet_ESSENTIAL_healthymouth_p/hm-luv.htm
Nice comprehensive video. I will have to ask tho, where are you going where a dental procedure is only a few hundred bucks? cuz uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. its like 1k minimum everywhere i am
How often should I brush my cat/kitten's teeth. Daily or several times per week or weekly?
The latter. I’ve read at least 3x per week at a minimum.
thank u. great ideas and thoughts i got tiger her teeth cleaned and 829 dollars but she had couple extractions unfortunately. the vets brought her to in past while expensive did not do a thorough job checking her teeth. there are water additives also but some cats wont like them. that is an issue i have with tiger. best to always get the cat x-rays with facility so the d.v.m. can see gum and any abscess or anything-so crucial. so treats is a bummer as they contain lot of bad stuff i learned from your video but just hoping they might help tiger some. never knew about them leaving a film-wow. she wont let me brush. i don't think most cats will unless trainer earlier and they get used to it not fearing it but see it as fun. i will get her a good cleaning each year. there are great board certified animal dentists too but they are not cheap of course. u r awesome thanks for a great video love your shirt too.
May excuse me if I missed the information in the video, but how often are we supposed to brush our cat's teeth ?
Hi Lauren, ideally, you should brush your cat's teeth every day to prevent tartar formation and buildup.
I hope your journey goes well
@@Aw_tig thank you so much 😻🐈🐾stay safe 😻
Hi Glorija, good to see you here! Here's an article with a few tips to help you take the stress out of traveling with your cat: www.wildernesscat.com/how-to-travel-with-cats-stress-free/
Hey Mallory what would you recommend for a 2 month old kitten
Yes I wouldn’t start brushing at that age but if you get your kitten used to you opening their mouth or maybe putting your finger in with some gauze round it, that will really get them used to it, then toothbrushing should be much easier for you both when you do start 😊 also Petstages have some toys that cats and kittens cat chew, tho make sure you supervise you kitten with them
Hi Brayan, the others here have provided great tips! This is also a good time to establish a healthy dietary foundation and encourage your kitten to try some more challenging foods. Good luck!
$180?! My new vet just told me it would cost $500-600 for a cleaning.
Question befor ei get my cat what the first thing to donafter i bring my cat home? An dhow can i tell they dont like toothbrush
you the best!
Are any of the water supplements for dental health good/effective? Or were they not included in this video because they aren’t worth it?
Hi Caroline, good question. Perhaps it would have been a good idea to mention water additives. There are a few on the market that seem to be effective, including one that is on the VOHC list of approved products for cats. You can learn more about it here: www.healthymouth.com/pet_ESSENTIAL_healthymouth_p/hm-luv.htm
How do you feel about water additives?
My cats won't let me get any tooth brush in there mouth so I take the treat route but I give them a couple times a week more like 1 time. I'm still trying the toothbrush but no luck so far
I find what works to brush my cat is wait till they're about to sleep. They're too tired to fight back lol
