+SinSignia It happened back then on FO3 to me. He was gone the moment I laid my eyes off him. Lesson learned... I reloaded and never made him fetch anything since then, I do it myself. Seems like it still happens now on FO4 lol.
Right?! It seems like yesterday that i almost shat myself at the tease of FO4 after being OBSESSED with FO3 and Skyrim for years! The e3 that year was amazing for Bethesda!! Too bad the wearable pipboy that came with the collectors edition was shit lol
+Dragon4c3_ You mean like IGN gave Fallout 4 a 9.5 because they like the devs? Witcher 3 was awesome, it was a huge, gigantic jump from 1 and 2 which I thought were "meh", both in gameplay and graphics. I was in fact not sure about buying Witcher 3 because 2 was such a disappointment for me, but boy was I surprised when I finally decided to give it a try. Fallout 3 was just an OK shooter on the other hand, the story wasn't that engaging and 4 seems to be more of the same without any obvious improvement to the graphics. Skyrim was a lot better than Fallout 3 and it felt like an evolutionary step from Oblivion whereas Fallout 4 doesn't seem like a step up from 3.
Pretty much the entire game is different from 2 to 3. The world is much bigger and more open, the quests are far more enjoyable, and the graphics see a huge improvement. The mini-game in 3 is actually worth playing and I spent probably 20 hours on that alone, I spent less time total on witcher 2 than just the mini-game in 3. The side quests are actually fun in 3 and the world seemed a lot more immersive than 2. I'm not going to pick out individual mechanics, as that would require time and research which I'm not going to spend just for youtube comments. And different types of combat mechanics don't mean shit if they aren't fun, it's easy to 'innovate' but if the game is not that fun then it's meaningless.
+Dragon4c3_ Fallout 4 is an RPG. Role Playing Game. You are taking on the role of the vault dweller from vault 111. How the fuck are you going to spew forth nonsense when you have such a minuscule understanding of what the fuck you are talking about. SMH ya filthy animal.
@@the_blind_hearing6 for the most part, their creation engine is just a modified version of their 21 years old gamebryo engine. they keep trying to fit more and more features into an ancient system that wasn't means for any of that and the result is more expensive AND worse than making a brand new one that is designed to meet current and future requirements. bad management, I guess p.s. their development team probably can't get any creative work done cause they're debugging 99% of the time.... must be hell to work there
No, gamebryo is fine. Their plugins are the problem. If they ever change engine, you can say good bye to mods. Not everyone of them gonna be gone, but it will be nerf heavily. I rather they update their plugins than a new engine. If modder can do that much, then a team of pros can at least do about the same. Bethesa just incompetent.
6 years later I’m still playing fallout 4. Granted it’s a 300+ modded fallout that doesn’t look anything like the original and my pc turns into a superheated nuclear reactor when I enter Boston. Still a great game.
How do you keep it from crashing? I’ve got Fallout 4 on PC and it crashes every time I enter Diamond City after my 1st visit. I’ve got about 200 mods installed but I use Vortex to manage them properly so there are no mod conflicts. I’m stumped.
@@HST2017never remove big mods specifically script mods and a few others mid playthrough that’ll wreck your game. make sure you have most of the big stuff you want before starting. dunno if you knew that already but that was the core of a lot of my problems with my early modding lol
+A one I don't think anyone is expecting a game like Halo to last 60+ hours but 5 or so hours is an outright insult for a full retail game. Regardless of brand or series.
You should try it out and rate for yourself how you liked it. I for example still bought bf hardline even after watching AJs review and i personally love it. But i still love to watch angry joes videos and im a big fan of him. The point is: dont let the opinion of others decide which games you should buy. :)
+Daniel Carroll Yep, people really really hoped that Bethesda would not walk down the obvious and cliché route. But it seems they did, trying to outdo Fallout 3 instead of doing something new and interesting. I really really liked Courier Nr 6 for that reason. I could actually explore the setting instead of being a huge ass mary sue. Being the chosen one gets tiring after the fiftieth game.
It gets so obvious when you compare these games to tabletop RPGs. Take star wars for example. It is so damn cliché to play a jedi/sith that people don't bother. It is the down to earth feel that makes the games believable and long lasting. What I wanted from a story perspective was to be a random character just walking around and trying to figure things out. Not being a legendary saviour of worlds.
+Daniel Carroll m That was what bothered me, the game felt like I HAD to complete it, not like I COULD complete it. The story has SO much emphasis but is dwarfed in size by the world and other content. Guy wakes up 200 years old and looks for his kid? WTF is that. I was expecting to be the sole survivor AND roam a wasteland trying to surving while uncovering lore via factions and nefarious plots. I don't even care about that kid, I like the settlements more
+angelowl89 uh... you are a random... you don't have any special significance for being over two decades old, infact it rarely comes up in dialogue, you still make a name for yourself from the ground up.
+hereLiesThisTroper I was more worried about the door to door vault salesman than the character's family. You spend more time speaking to him than you do your spouse or baby. Man if only I could have rescued him...
@@carolprice1389 Did you ever buy it? It’s under $10 now. I’ll never buy that one. I’m still kicking myself for buying Cyberpunk 2077! LoL! The game to get now is Outriders, coming April 1. The Demo is free right now, and it’s really good!
fallout 1: must find the water chip. fallout 2: must find the G.E.C.K fallout 3: must find my dad. fallout 4: must find my son fallout NV: WHO SHOT ME IN THE HEAD?!?!
If you were honest and not fanboying Then it's fallout 1: must find the water chip fallout 2: must find the G.E.C.K fallout 3: must find my dad fallout 4: must find my son fallout NV: must find my killer
christian, have you ever played NV? The plot line isn't revolved around Benny, he is the way of introducing to the courier independent route, and Ceasers legion. The story revolves around hoover dam not Benny.
thelil hedgehog I played over 300 hours of NV and I know once you find Benny, you pick a side, NCR, leagon, mr house, or yes man. I'm just making fun of how it starts like the rest of the fallout games. And the rest of isn't all about finding something. In fallout 1, once you fond the water chip, you pick a side, your vault, or the unity. In fallout 2 and 3 once you fond the G.E.C.K. or dad, you fight the enclave (not giving you the choice to join to fight against the NCR or the brotherhood of steel kinda sucks). In fallout 4 once you found your son, you pick a side, Minutemen, Railroad, Brotherhood of steel, or the institution (even though fallout NV did the ending better because you get to form alliances that affect the battle of Hoover dame).
As one of those "hardcore oldschool Fallout players." I found myself overwhelmingly frustrated and disappointed with Fallout 4 at first. However after giving the game a chance over and over I ended up having a great time with the game. Unfortunately the things I enjoyed in the game were not in-line with the rest of the series, Bethesda has made quite a lot of changes that I think were just terrible ideas. Fallout is about ROLE-PLAYING. And I have to say this over and over again because so many developers get this wrong. Stop making the player character voiced in RPG's. Just because it worked for Mass Effect doesn't mean it will work for your game. Fallout up to this point has been a mostly traditional RPG that allows the player to completely create their own character, including name, appearance, attributes and playstyles. Adding 2 voice actors to represent this entire spectrum of creativity is just dumb, dumb, dumb. And it's even more frustrating because this is FALLOUT! This series is known for it's lengthy, complicated, and dynamic dialogue options that bring in the player's speech skill, and even all their other skills (as with New Vegas) to really make all players feel unique from one another. Now all that's gone and we are left with a pointlessly shallow, arbitrarily limited 4 options maximum system that all but kills the role-playing in this game. And despite all of that... I still really like Fallout 4, genuinely I think it's a really, really fun game. So here's my advice: Fallout 4 is NOT a Fallout game, don't expect satisfying role-playing, don't expect a well-written story, and don't expect complex RPG mechanics. Fallout 4 is the most literal interpretation yet of that old hilarious saying "Skyrim with guns," Fallout 4 absolutely fits that moniker. Expect a solid, well-crafted exploration based game with a "kinda" Fallout skin over it and you've got Fallout 4. And is that a bad thing? Absolutely not, I'm totally ok with a more exploration focused game for the series. I just hope that this foundation is used by Obsidian in the future, to give us a real role-playing focused Fallout title.
+Kolbe Howard Personally, I prefer games to have voice actors for the Player Character, but..I can see where you're coming from. It's really not worth it if the dialogue options are so limited and shallow. That's incredibly disappointing.
+Kolbe Howard Well that's your opinion, I hate mute protagonist and the fact that in fallout 4 finallly have a voiced protagonist is something that motivate me to buy it more early, I hated that in the previous bethesda game to have mute character, its just feels so impersonal. And yes it did work, the mass effect series has a voiced protagonist and it works totally fine, So yeah it's worth it instead of having a totally non personnal character like in the previous bethesda game.
+Kolbe Howard Agreed. As long as you're making your own story, just wondering around and doing quests is fun enough to warrant 7-8/10. But the leveling and the dialogue are totally butchered. As for players voice, disabling that is the first mod I've got.
+Kolbe Howard Now its more about the shooter part. The dialogues are "out" so to say. Just like they did to morrowind (never played oblivion so I dont know) . I liked morrowind but I get why they do this.
@@basshead. Starfield's engine is fine, their issue is that they are focusing too much on sheer scale rather than filling the world they have with interesting locations, stories and fun things to do and places to explore with interesting things to find. Starfield is just completely empty. If they make an Elder Scrolls game as empty as Starfield, people are going to be pissed after the 12 year wait and probably stop buying Bethesda games altogether. Let's not forget Morrowind and Oblivion basically brought them into the limelight and kept them afloat. If that fanbase that supported them at their lowest leaves, most will follow after.
The engine is fine people have created near infinite amount of different things with it. It’s more berthesda that isn’t willing to take advantage of the engine
Actually, it's any button. But if you keep skipping it with B your character may make a remark about how annoying the speaking character is. It's pretty funny.
When you skip dialogue, your character's interruption corresponds to which button you use, so using triangle gives an almost interrogative "Hmm." Circle gives a rude response, while square is being a smartass. Also, if you do this while the character is drunk, expect slurring.
Having a voiced protagonist is nice and all but I'd rather have a much deeper dialogue tree with a silent character. I think that would have fixed the biggest complaint people have with the game.
+Iqbalx1 How are they dull and boring when the dialogue options are so limited because of voice acting? At least with a silent one, your character can feel much more like your own. In Fallout 4 your character keeps feeling like somebody else's vision.
That just goes to show you learn from your mistakes Bethesda yes hell is coming for you, greed got to you. Don't try to become what other games have become stick to your traditional story
I was 13 when this game came out and I was only allowed to play video games on weekends. I remember waking up at 7AM on Saturdays just so I could play as long as possible before Monday rolled around, then I wouldn't stop thinking about it until i could play it again the next weekend. Still to this day one of my favourite games of all time.
@@Grimm141 16 times the detail of Fallout 76? In that case it doesn't matter because for it to matter one first needs a value and since Fallout 76 lacks any value, all amounts equate to nothing because the game itself is nothing 😂
Fallout 4 8/10 Fallout 76 3/10. Damn Update. I decided to check out fallout 76. I bought it on PS4 for 20 dollars after wastelanders dropped. And I have actually been enjoying it. I’ve seen what they are gonna be adding to the game. I’m hyped for seasons. I know delrith did an updated review for wastelanders it I’m still having fun. Can’t wait for more.
I still somewhat had fun with it, not as a fallout game but as a sort of time waster. If it was under a different name it would of been received somewhat better.
2015 - Joe on F4: "This engine is sooo outdated, it really needs an update. Models and terrain look like they could be in Oblivion." 2018 - Joe on F76: "This engine is sooo outdated, it really needs an update. Models and terrain look like they could be in Oblivion." 2021 - Bethesda: "So we decided we're going to keep our same engine for another decade, it works." *Bethesda PR team crashes*
+Bobster930 I didn't bought the game yet. It looks again like an extension on previous games with a different world and story. I'm not excited enough to pay even like 30 dollars for this.
+Bobster930 I love it the same, maybe slightly less than the other ones. Still taking up all my gaming time because it's better than all the other overhyped shit released last year.
EXACTLY or end the franchise you are making the fallout franchise to shame this is not the old age this is the new age, Bethesda has no idea how to create a fallout game even obsidian make a better and best fallout game than Bethesda this fallout was a disappointment and laughing stock
fallout 2 dialogue + fallout 4 combat + fallout NV perks and random encounters + fallout settlement building but you can set up new settlements anywere = ultimate fallout
No, Obsidian is good but they should recreate Black Isle completely. Fallout. Baldur's Gate. Icewind Dale. Planescape: Torment. As far as CRPGs go they were never surpassed.
Les Fleurs du Mal I rather end the fallout series and don’t get me wrong after fallout no lonesome road DLC leaving a perfect message to end the series and it should and it shaming true name of fallout
They both suffer the same issue. A lot of visual eye candy and a bunch of tacked-on game mechanics without any depth and a severe lack of interesting stories and side quests and a very bad lack of unique and handcrafted locations with their own story to tell. The issue is that Starfield is amplified and made even worse than FO4 because it has even less in it than Fallout 4 does. It's a space exploration game where you can't fly your ship and there's nothing to explore. It's no wonder people are pissed about it.
20:20 This is why I love you Joe. I've seen review after review giving 9/10, 10/10, calling all this bullshit "streamlining", but the dialogue is fucking TERRIBLE. And everyone just...excuses it, because they're so caught up in the hype that they can't think critically. UNNECESSARY is the perfect word for it. What was once a deep conversation system that allowed you to ask a lot of questions and discuss the motivation of characters, and philosophy of the factions is now nothing more than a "advance conversation" button. It does NOTHING.
+Vastro Trinity Man, fuck Witcher 3. Yeah, I said it. Everyone jizzing in their pants for that game. I agree about the dialogue. Knew it since day 1 at E3.
+Grim Games I can't actually tell if I like the Fallout 4 dialoque better or the fallout 3/new vegas ones better. There's a mod to get the old dialoque style back but I feel like I prefer the new simplified way somehow. For now it's just fine for me. I hated it before the game came out but now its all good.
Cyberpunk was development hell, was created in the process of generation swap, it crippled them, but Yeah, they just announced it too early and basically fucked up, but on PC it was stellar, amazing experience
The slow-mo miss of the mini-nuke on the behemoth was hilariously epic, as was your reaction to it. Even though it didn't hit the target, that slow cruise by his leg as it moved slightly out of the way was a truly beautiful sight. I never use the Fat Man or mini-nukes for two reasons. 1) I prefer precision shots, so as not to be caught in the blast radius, and 2) I am so anally cheap that I cannot bring myself to part with an ammunition so rare. Besides, the mini-nuke is best used against a large group of weak enemies rather than a single powerful one. My opinion of course.
+Seth Roneen I'm the same way. I'm currently sitting on about 20 fusion cores just because I always feel like I'll need them for something down the road. I've used a heavy weapon twice. The first was the minigun on the deathclaw that you basically are forced to use and the second was a missile launcher that I used on a Mirelurk queen when liberating the castle in the Minutemen quest line. I, too, am a cheapskate.
+Seth Roneen Always use V.A.T.S. with the Fat Man. It adjusts your aim to form the best possible parabolic arc for accuracy, the blast radius will do the work if it doesn't hit spot on.
+Seth Roneen Get the ammo crafting mod. They are still rare but you can actually use the gun this way. I bring mine and save it for deathclaws, behemoths, crazy large groups, and vertibirds.
The dialogue has to be the weakest point for me. Not the voice acting; just the dialogue. Like mentioned, it doesn't feel like what I say matters - it only determines what little extra voice tidbit I get to hear after I make my choice. I really hope future DLC and/or mods take more time to flesh this system out and make me feel like the character I want to be and not just a more sarcastic (or not) version of the base character. And don't get me started on terminals unlocking after 10 seconds and the fact that you need certain perks to even attempt hacking/lockpicking, my gosh. Even so, i'm still having a fun time with Fallout 4. There are many things I miss from New Vegas, but the time sink is still very, very real.
+Spottedfire25 Sarcastic option seem to be the best dialog compare to the other. The lockpick and hacking isn't trouble me much since i need only rank 1 in them to unlock most of basic locker/computer. The Expert lock mostly disappointed with few extra ammo and stimpack. The Master lock always being the shortcut route. FO4 doing a lot of things right while doing a lot of other things awkward. It still fun and good game, but christ it is wonka and glitchy as hell for now.
+Spottedfire25 At first I thought the same but then out of curiosity I started new vegas again and saved before talking to npcs and chose different options. but its the same as in f4, more choices but they still lead to the same outcum, pretty much always. just one different sentence before standard dialogue kicks in. so actually nothing really changed, if you want to believe it or not.
I bought fallout with all the dlcs for just 8 dollars the other day and I’ve gotta admit I’m having more fun on a 8 dollar 5 year old game than on a 50 dollar game that only just came out not long ago *cough* Cold War *cough*
+Marko Stamenkovic OBVIOUSLY. Fallout 2 was one of the best rpg games ever made. Fallout 4 is just a good shooter with rpg elements, horrible acting, and really flat story which your decision and choices don't really matter.
+ExileTwilight I am actually really hyped for something like that. Go look up Alpha Protocol. Joe did a review on it a long time ago. The game is pretty bad, but it has really good writing and a decent choice system similar to the ME games. And it's made by Obsidian.
i was about to come and comment here "so true lol", until i realized i did it 8 months ago lol. i keep watching old Angry Joe reviews while waiting for another good Fallout..
Lmao yess!!! Okay i was at the part with Piper and i really just wanted the XP so i disarmed all of them except the last few, dumb shit ran into them and we got fucked up :/ good times.
+Jin Kazama Really stupid. Reminds me when there was a Tumblr war between the Steven Universe fandom and My Little Pony fandom (that was started by the SU fandom and note I am in both fandoms) that had me all like "Why is this even happening?". Beyond ridiculous.
+Jin Kazama I couldn't really get into the Witcher. I only played Witcher 2. It's not my game at all. I got way more into Fallout 4 to be honest. This whole fanboy war is just stupid.
The thing that annoys me about fan wars is never seeing anything valid in critiques on both sides and the general writing off of anyone's opinion... even one agreeing with one 90%. People just need to grow up and enjoy what they enjoy and not force opinions on people.
You people remind me of Middle Schoolers... there is no Bugthestard, there are people like you that judge other peoples opinions with your own which do jack fucking shit because funnily enough insulting someones opinion isn't likely to make them change it, funny how that works btw, and then there are people that play the game to enjoy it. But lets not skip over the real problem, you just don't like it because of the creation club don't you? Allow me to introduce you to the three P's. Petty. Pointless. Pathetic. Which one are you? Actually you know what don't answer that, your answer would only bore me.
Man, there must be something wrong with that elevator's loading time... The game has loads of them indeed, but mine (pc) were waaaaay shorter than that!
Yeah, he found a bug. I found it too, had to reload. You'd think someone who plays games for a living would realize the difference between a long elevator ride and a complete system fuckup, but this is Angry Joe
I'm playing it on PS4 and never have a run into such a long loading screen or a Elevator ride. So i'm asuming this must have been a bug. Usually it doesn't take more then a few sec. 10-15 sec would be a long one for me i believe. No more then half a minute at most i think. Not that i've ever clocked it. When it comes to BETHESDA games i'm so used to the loading that i rarly ever notice how long it takes since i allways go into planing mode when they come up.
+Oliver Rees As a indie dev.. It can be quite funny. Some ppl that have never even worked on a game themselves often claim to know best. Even better than the dev him/her self. Some ppl come and starts order you to do this and that to your game. In my opinion, and I'm sure its shared by alot of other developers is that you should just ignore ppl, just do the best game you could. And on the forum side.. say 500 players, and 10 assholes. 30 ppl commenting, where as 2~3 are the assholes, and they always see to take the most place :-P
vertitis hahaha thanks man, despite being a gamer myself, I also find it quite hilarious. There will be those assholes but as whole the gaming community is decent to say the least, my previous comment was just a joke...
+vertitis But your product is up for scrutiny as soon as you put it out there. Nothing's beyond criticism and it's not up to you to decide what others think of your game. Especially when it's so easy to compare it to so many alternatives nowadays. No matter, btw, whether your critics have actually worked in game design themselves. That's a rather ridiculous argument to deny someone else his opinion.
+breakfestbacon You do realise the karma system was pretty much useless, and had a tendency to lump everything into a saint and a devil category. right?
he said 0 consequence with what you do. Did he not? i simply told him a way see what your consequences are for hurting a person you should not. The karma system was stupid to begin with, you were either very good or very bad.
+Korax That's because it started off originally as an RPG, and now they've gone and decided to neuter most of those elements that made the series so great. It feels like they are using the new gunplay as a "filler-feature" to make up for the fact that the Role-playing is unbelievably pitiful compared to even Skyrim.
+Korax Besides, you are making it sound like that if you are a consumer, and you are displeased with your product, you aren't allowed to voice your opinion, or show disapproval of it.
Yeah, my friend bought the pip-boy edition of Fallout 4, and my other friend wanted to look at it, and put it on, and the pip-boy instantly broke. Then they started fighting.
Fallout 4 was badass to me, and yes I been playing fallouts for years... and I still say to me Fallout 4 hits the spot on a bad day at work out of all the Fallouts. (And mods too, thank the Gods.)
+Bobly Bobson People seem to exaggerate the power of DeathClaws. Don't get me wrong, the DeathClaws are powerful, but they only remain a big threat until you get to a certain level. The Lakelurks in New Vegas were always a bigger pain in my ass than the DeathClaws ever were. I was at a level where the DeathClaw Alpha-Male seemed like a pushover, but a basic Lakelurk still shot my ass down with almost no effort.
+Bobly Bobson They nerfed the Deathclaws? Well that cements my decision to not buy this game. Which I already considered boycotting for what it stands for (the dumbing down of video games as a whole).
+Patrick Alexander No... There are no exaggerations. Deathclaws in the past were truly monsters in all other fallouts. To have them spawn so much and be killed so easily, makes the entire enemy a disappointment.
+Bobly Bobson I have more trouble with the flying insects than the deathclaws :c probably because I cant hit the stupid tiny bugs and I can just shoot a mini nuke at a deathclaw easier.
I just wish they let Obsidian do their version again. In my opinion Fallout New Vegas was better than Fallout 3 in every category, maybe barring the main story quest. EDIT: I personally loved the New Vegas story but the main concensuss in the community seems to be that 3s was better.
There was an interview before FO4s announcement with obsidian, about where they would take the series next if they could and they said that they would love to do a New Orleans centered fallout.
This was my experience with fallout 4 Levels 1-5 a bit dull, but the deathclaw battle was hard I guess.(did anyone else have that glitch where the power armor didn't spawn in) Levels 5-15- now things are starting to pick up. Goodbye kellogg, hello brotherhood. Levels 15-25 finally, now I have plenty of ammo and some cool new legendary guns. Levels 25-35 man, I really need some more perk points. 35-40 please, please Preston, no more quests, I beg-BUT GENERAL THE COMMONWEALTH NEEDS YOU!
The deathclaw battle was hard ?? You mean that battle where the devs give you a power armor at 5 minutes into the game HARD ? YEAH MAN that shit was really fucking hard.
I put off playing it for so long just because of the complaints I've heard about it. But now after nearly 40 hrs, it's a huge improvement over everything in Fallout 3 except for story. Hopefully F76 is the last time Bethesda pimps out the engine
I probably have over 5k hours spread through PS4/Series X and PC, it's amazing how time can fly while playing this game, Witcher 3 was really fun, but Fallout 4 was hands down my 2015 GOTY.
+fruitycolax whyhyy ??? its not. i roleplay. AND THERE ARE BUILDINGS ADDED YOU CAN BUILD YOUR OWN BASE IMAGINE.I am roleplaying it and its not been destryoed.
Man it’s crazy how starfield came and went. It was basically just a reskinned fallout game. I enjoyed it but damn I was disappointed. I finished the game pretty quickly and have not played since.
@@kyero8724 That's becuse they finally moved off Creation Engine 1...that they used from Skyrim to 76 lol. Starfield and ES6 are the first games on Creation Engine 2 (not the same engine just a sequel to it). I personally loved starfield and hope it gets some good expansions. Also the best running and looking Bethesda game to date. Gives me hope for ES6 and Fallout 5 (especially with all the attention the show is bringing I think Bethesda is gonna double down on the funding the dev team gets)
@apollo4619 it needs a expansion where we go to a evil universe like star trek where the cities we know are harsh and ran by corrupt n stuff. Mirror to the hyper polish and clean cities
I just want Fallout: New Vegas 2. Update: Some people are reporting replies they disagree with as spam. Stop reporting people you disagree with. I will always restore those, even when the attack me.
+John “TheRealCatBox” Spedding Is it that bad? I like it myself. But then again I find myself liking games like Knights of the Old Republic II, New Vegas and MGS2 that take an artsy approach where the premise of the game as well as the medium itself is deconstructed and messed with. I suppose that's part of why I enjoy it.
***** if you didn't know, new vegas has more locations, more weapons and armor, far more quests, more factions, an actual faction system and more endings than both fallout 3 & 4
I can't complain about the glitches in FO4. They gave me the best laughs and surprises for months. The enemy A.I.s killing each other has been awesome!
I found a legendary star sniper rifle that I named Garry. It does double damage if the target is at full health so if I do a sneak headshot it insta kills most of the time.
This was my first fallout and I only tried it cause I was raised in that area of mass so it was SOOO fun going and finding landmarks I knew from real life in the game. And I really loved it. I knew so little about fallout that i beat the entire game without using vats because I just skip tutorials lol. I was so hyped for a new fallout....only to see fallout 76. I almost bought it but I fell short on money and by time I had money I had starting watching reviews and to this day I've never touched it.
I don't see a problem with "needing 9 levels" to become a shop owner. Your character shouldn't just instantly know the economics of a world that isn't their own. Seems like an arbitrary thing to bitch about. It _would_ take a while to get used to the new system of currency and understanding the worth of things in a world like this.
+NerdStoryteller Well when in other games you had some way of making money other than dumping all your points into charisma. 9 levels is a lot considering I beat the game and most side quests at around level 50. Not to mention the gating off of perks for some crazy reason. RPG's are about choice. If I want to dump 16 skill points into barter and be a master salesmen but shit at everything else for a few levels then let me. Not really. Why is this clearly advanced plasma rifle modded to all hell worth 200 caps? Whilst a regular pistol is 100 caps? Makes no sense nobody would be that fooled.
I like the game but I don't know if I'd give it an 8/10. There are a few things that bothered me about it. 1) the endings putting it bluntly suck. I liked it better in New Vegas when after you beat the story it would show you the after math of how you influenced the world. Like what happens to the factions or your companions. Instead it's just a bland cut scene you get for all the endings. That's lazier than Mass effect 3's ending. 2) I miss special and skill based dialogue options. In New Vegas it was cool when you could convince people to do things by proving your self with how will your skills were. Like How Easy Pete in New Vegas will give you dynamite if you have a high enough explosive skill. Or how you can impress the Boomers with your insight on science explosives and survival tactics. The most Fallout 4 has is that a high enough intelligence stat will let you bypass a few repair jobs on the broken ship or convince the robots in Dry Rock Gulch to skip so tedious tasks. 3) I miss reputation. I thought it was cool how in New Vegas you could infiltrate certain gangs if you wear there armor. We good one good instance where you're under cover for the Rail Road in the BOS but that's about it. Stuff I did like though I liked weapon and armor customization. It made scavenging in the wasteland feel rewarding. I liked the companions. They didn't have the smartest AI but at least I didn't feel like I was baby sitting them all the time. In New Vegas companions can get killed real easy when over whelmed by cazadores, night stalkers and death claws. Worst thing about it was that I couldn't use anti venom on allies so I kept downing them with stimpaks until the venom wore off.
Srithor it's an ok game. It's an action shooter with the smallest hint of rpg I've ever seen in a game that proclaims itself to be an rpg. It's an action shooter made for the lowest common denominator. All the missions are repetitive and end the same. Your choices have little to no impact in the world. It feels far from organic. It's a shot game that disguises the reek with fast paced action making it ok to play. It's a repetitive shitty game
Srithor you must not know what an rpg is, but from what you've said you have only proven my point of "action shooter with slight hints of rpg style gameplay"

+John Doe But meh nedz de graphix.

I don't even care about that kid, I like the settlements more
+angelowl89 uh... you are a random... you don't have any special significance for being over two decades old, infact it rarely comes up in dialogue, you still make a name for yourself from the ground up.

christian, have you ever played NV? The plot line isn't revolved around Benny, he is the way of introducing to the courier independent route, and Ceasers legion. The story revolves around hoover dam not Benny.
thelil hedgehog
I played over 300 hours of NV and I know once you find Benny, you pick a side, NCR, leagon, mr house, or yes man.
+Kolbe Howard Every dialogue check being based on charisma ruined it for me. My character had 10 intelligence, but was clueless about everything.
Joe, 2015, the engine needs changing. Joe, 2023, the engine needs changing.
Sadly TES6 will use the same engine.
It’s more berthesda that isn’t willing to take advantage of the engine
you can skip dialogue
press 'B' on the xbox.
But yeah, the dialogue sucks
Actually, it's any button. But if you keep skipping it with B your character may make a remark about how annoying the speaking character is. It's pretty funny.
Pizzario sounds fun
Mellow Memestar lol
When you skip dialogue, your character's interruption corresponds to which button you use, so using triangle gives an almost interrogative "Hmm." Circle gives a rude response, while square is being a smartass. Also, if you do this while the character is drunk, expect slurring.
By guys fulut fors story is gud wtfffffff drrrrr
Having a voiced protagonist is nice and all but I'd rather have a much deeper dialogue tree with a silent character. I think that would have fixed the biggest complaint people have with the game.
they knew it was a risk wen they did it
I prefer that the protagonist is voiced silent ones are too dull boring and outdated for me
+Iqbalx1 How are they dull and boring when the dialogue options are so limited because of voice acting? At least with a silent one, your character can feel much more like your own. In Fallout 4 your character keeps feeling like somebody else's vision.

I'll be honest, Fallout 4 isn't very good either, sure it's a fun game but the writing is just awful compared to Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas.

RETRIBUTION!
Starfield makes Fallout 4 look like a masterpiece 😂
They both suffer the same issue. A lot of visual eye candy and a bunch of tacked-on game mechanics without any depth and a severe lack of interesting stories and side quests and a very bad lack of unique and handcrafted locations with their own story to tell.
The issue is that Starfield is amplified and made even worse than FO4 because it has even less in it than Fallout 4 does. It's a space exploration game where you can't fly your ship and there's nothing to explore. It's no wonder people are pissed about it.

This is why I love you Joe.
I think we are just spoiled by the witcher 3 lol
+Vastro Trinity Yeah because we haven't had CRPGs with deep conversation options for nearly two decades...
+Vastro Trinity Man, fuck Witcher 3. Yeah, I said it. Everyone jizzing in their pants for that game.
I agree about the dialogue. Knew it since day 1 at E3.
+Grim Games preach it
+Grim Games I can't actually tell if I like the Fallout 4 dialoque better or the fallout 3/new vegas ones better. There's a mod to get the old dialoque style back but I feel like I prefer the new simplified way somehow. For now it's just fine for me. I hated it before the game came out but now its all good.
Coming back to this review after Joe’s Cyberpunk review....fallout 4 may have been buggy, but at least it worked on every platform it was released on.

+Jesse Guzman Thats what I did :D
+Seth Roneen Always use V.A.T.S. with the Fat Man. It adjusts your aim to form the best possible parabolic arc for accuracy, the blast radius will do the work if it doesn't hit spot on.
+Seth Roneen Get the ammo crafting mod. They are still rare but you can actually use the gun this way. I bring mine and save it for deathclaws, behemoths, crazy large groups, and vertibirds.
I feel you man... I'm such a hoarder I still can't bring myself to use any of my 100+ fusion cores or 40 mini nukes.
Codsworth can even say my name! And it's not a common name, so props to Bethesda on that.

+Josiah Duff (GT500 Mustangs) he can't say my name ;( forever alone.......
+Filip Seger Are you including Fallout 1 and 2? because those were VERY different
+elij5650 elij5650 you're an edgy one lol. People like a game that I don't? They must be idiots.

+Marko Stamenkovic
Everything in Fallout 2 is more entertaining than anything Bethesda shits out
so true but it gun play sucked!
+Marko Stamenkovic I have to disagree a bit. I think when "romancing" companions such as Piper/Cait etc is pretty good.
+Marko Stamenkovic OBVIOUSLY. Fallout 2 was one of the best rpg games ever made. Fallout 4 is just a good shooter with rpg elements, horrible acting, and really flat story which your decision and choices don't really matter.
Worst thing about this game is the new dialogue system. It doesn't matter what you say anymore.
Didn't matter that much in Fallout 3 either, New Vegas was different but then again, that was another game developed by another developer.
Andrew Markus That's an excuse. A dialogue system that only limits the player to 4 options is worse than one that has far more options.
+Andrew Markus Reeeeally hoping for a Fallout 4 based game from Obsidian :)
+ExileTwilight I am actually really hyped for something like that. Go look up Alpha Protocol. Joe did a review on it a long time ago. The game is pretty bad, but it has really good writing and a decent choice system similar to the ME games. And it's made by Obsidian.

+Jin Kazama IDK...I still think Just Cause 3 will kick the asses of both of them.
The thing that annoys me about fan wars is never seeing anything valid in critiques on both sides and the general writing off of anyone's opinion... even one agreeing with one 90%.

Yeah, he found a bug. I found it too, had to reload. You'd think someone who plays games for a living would realize the difference between a long elevator ride and a complete system fuckup, but this is Angry Joe
+Whitey 4000 OH the elevators have made my game restart about 10 times already. on my game everything stops moving and you cant do anything at all
Well I remember very well the elevators in Mass Effect, all episodes... But I loved that game anyway, actually!
+Thomas Samoht Yea, the way they used the elevator loading screens for banter between characters actually helped to flesh out their personalities.
The more I look at these comments, the more I realise that the gaming community is the worst community out there...
+Oliver Rees As a indie dev.. It can be quite funny. Some ppl that have never even worked on a game themselves
often claim to know best. Even better than the dev him/her self. Some ppl come and starts order you to do this
and that to your game. In my opinion, and I'm sure its shared by alot of other developers is that you should just
ignore ppl, just do the best game you could.
+Oliver Rees "worst community out there.". Are you aware that the KKK still exist?
D0pam1n It seems as you do not understand what I wrote. I did not refer to critique..

People used to complain about the gunplay. Now that it is actually good, people complain about it becoming an fps.
+Korax I tought in 2015 we could have both.... damn me and my reasonable expectations
***** you sound like a console peasant right now
damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Fallout 4 was badass to me, and yes I been playing fallouts for years... and I still say to me Fallout 4 hits the spot on a bad day at work out of all the Fallouts. (And mods too, thank the Gods.)
Am I the only one who found the death claws way to easy? I mean, I found groups of Raiders that gave me more trouble than a death claw...
Anti Matter I cannot speak for the deathclaws in Fallout 1. I have just recently started the first game, but have not encountered one yet.

Pretty much same reason why I started playing this game. Was my 1st Fallout game too.
I have that same experience with Fallout 3. First Fallout game and I lived about 45 minutes away from DC
Con Cahill
Buy low, sell high. The first rule of economics.
+NerdStoryteller Well you can get it with six charisma so not even nine
SHrek oger lord plus 2 levels so 8 really.
+Con Cahill Yeah also depends on how many perks you invest into charisma at the start of the game.
A really bad Fallout RPG game, a pretty fun open world shooter.
Stuff I did like though
I liked weapon and armor customization.
+Mass Debator this is late but you must be so salty because that's the biggest comment Iv ever seen and no one will ever or has ever read that
stfu.
I'm very happy about the changes in this game from the other fallouts and this game is honestly the best game I've ever played, I fucking love it
+TheRealJoker same
You must have played some shitty games then because Fallout 4 was pretty damn average.
+Mountain Dank agreed

"Let this be the last in the old style Bethesda RPG's".
Laughs in Starfield.
