Some of you have smartly pointed out I gave Battlefront (2015) a 5/10, not a 6/10 as I thought I had in this Review. I hate that I forgot I was tougher on BF than I had thought. For this Review I was teetering back and forth between 5 and 6. Had I realized that I likely would have landed at 5. Same Score as I originally intended. However 5-6 is still reasonable, as DICE did make some real effort in so many places to improve and actually give us half or some of what we asked for, its just EA comes in and eff's with Progression and Loot Boxes due to the greed overextending into places it doesn't belong. Id stand by a 5 or 6. And Id respect anyone who says its lower on that same principle.

Not all developers work on the same systems. There would have been a particular team within DICE working on the progression systems, while others handle graphics, gameplay, etc. They actually have done a good job on most of the game, just a few adjustments need to be made to progression (which isn't actually that bad).
We have F2P Games better than this, i play smite and their core game is separate from their microtransactions.

People have forgotten how awful the release of this game was and that we as gamers and consumers hold the power. EA won't be getting my money, ever, if I can help it.
It’s getting ridiculous how often this argument is being used. No Mans Sky, Destiny 2, BF2 and sometime soon probably Cyberpunk are all getting passes because they EVENTUALLY made the game good. I do not pay all that money to have a good game in about 3 years time. That’s ridiculous and it’s becoming standard and people are constantly defending these developers.

I could go on to say why that’s bad, but if you don’t already know why, there’s no point in even talking. Also, NMS wasn’t just ‘over promises’, it was a blatantly bad game at launch. It was boring, buggy, it’s “ending” was atrocious and was overall a horrible experience.
When I was working at Toys R Us last year for the holidays when this was all going down, I was always working in electronics and any time someone came in for Battlefront 2 EA, I advised them about the loot boxes, the terrible story campaign, and awful progression and pay to win formula and convinced them to buy different games. I must’ve saved at least a hundred customers from buying it.

I honestly think we the consumers should take credit for killing it. (well it's not dead but it received a crippling blow for sure). A capitalist economy only works when the consumers have the power of demand. A mega company tried to force us to create a demand, we beat down them by not opening our wallets. We just need to think with our heads and not our feelings when making a purchase. No matter how pretty and shiny the product may be. And please parents teach your children. Not all shiny new things are good.

Thankfully it’s a very different game nowadays. After all the backlash it got over time EA pulled their grubby mitts out of it and let Dice fix it as much as they could before pulling the plug on updates.

But "hurdur they're optional don't like them don't buy them blarg" or whatever, this company is a parasite and I'm sick of the excuses for supporting them.
I still find it a bit strange that game devs sell to EA, if I worked at a place and they told us we were bought by EA I would start looking for a new job ASAP because this shit is going so far down the toilet the sooner you are off the better. Do they not have a choice(EA sneakily buys shares?) or are everyone just so desperate for the $ that they sell the future of their company knowing full well what a horrible fate awaits them? quite literally selling themselves to the devil.

This game is just as much DICE's fault as it is EA's.
The lootboxes are removed (weapon parts and star cards are unlockable leveling up or achieving a number of kills), and I think the only way you can use credits now is buying skins (which is useless now with the celebration edition). Then to level up fast (and unlock guns faster), I recommend playing the coop mode (it can get kinda grindy, but hey at least you can unlock exclusive guns).
And offline all the star cards wepons and heroes are unlocked
I would hazard a guess and say that Disney did not want players to be soldiers of the evil Empire in a campaign that's considered canon, so the writers had to come up with an excuse for her to go turncoat almost as soon as the campaign starts.

The campaign made me sad... I just wanted to play as the “bad guys”, but no... went from being a part of the Navy Seals to ISIS in 10 seconds..
to be fair you try to save like 4 more dudes and then get the death penalty. the transformation happens over months and years which is brushed away in one quick sentence. I think the Space missions are more insulting than the story

From what I’ve gathered, there is a ton of cut content from the campaign. Iden was always going to defect and we would have been okay with it had the defection occurred towards the end of the campaign, anyways apparently an end game boss battle with The Zillo Beast from Clone Wars was cut.
@Reborn Why would you uninstal a multiplayer first game because of the campaign? And I hope you've reinstaled it since then, because the game is great now (The multiplayer).
Reborn The add on to the campaign was actually pretty good (Old Iden, etc), though still not an empire story. Also, you’re missing out on Fallen Order, it’s okay to buy an EA game if it’s good. If they get good reception from non-micro transaction games and hate from games with micro transactions they’ll figure out that we don’t want them. Just think of Jedi Fallen Order as a Respawn game, and not an EA game.
Love seeing how much this game has changed for the better. I always end up finding myself coming back to watch this to compare the horrid past of this game to its present

Weeeelllll EA had learned there lesson. Instead of 1 time payments for the season pass, they can use the loot box system. Where they can charge you as many times as they want too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Because they are banking on the typical gamer to be too lazy to grind out long hours for content that's locked, so they can keep spending more money into the game they already purchased for $60-$80. So the lesson EA learned is that clearly there weren't greedy enough in Battlefront 1 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The game play is not that great if you look at it, All these star cars do not provide anything but ruins game play. You jump into a match and have zero cards and your a super skilled player but someone who has all legendary cards come along who is a half ass player takes your ass out. How is that good balanced game play, its not, the game is piss poor.

I do not own the game but I have played it at my friends place for around 10 hrs now and the game play is poorly done. There are heroes who are very OP, skills of classes aren't that great, the game modes are very weak I seen better done in game that are 20 years old. The one thing a lot of people do not see how little there is put into games these days besides making it look pretty and charging $60 to $100 or more. Lastly People do not see when it comes too anything Star Wars Disney is pushing for focus on what they have created which in it self is poorly done just like this game.

It's not. It's a great game with brain dead micro transactions. Giving it a 2/10 means you're ignoring everything the game has to offer (graphics, tight gameplay etc.)
Everyone is upset with the microtransactions including myself, but lets not kid ourselves this is a fun game. Frustrating progression system, but fun.

Alfred, I just finished playing the original Battlefront II campaign. Repetitive it may be, but it isn't bland at all, it has more flavor and personality than both of EA's battlefront games combined. I'm playing Kotor again too, a timeless jewel, better written than any of the disneyverse movies by far.

Came back to re-watch this, and I realized something about the campaign. This game had 2 missions as the empire before switching to the rebels side for the other.... 80-90% of it? Meanwhile the original Battlefront II from 2004's campaign started you off as the Clones before transitioning into the Empire in a basically 50-50 split under the 501st. Even the campaign's idea was done better and made more sense in the original.
And you know why that is as well as I do.
