That was so wonderful to watch that build and the babies new homes. This makes me want chickens, but we are waiting til Spring since we have so much else going on and need coops and all.
Funny story! Our first flock of 10 were rescued from our property (9 chicks & 1 older hen). We had no plans of getting chickens yet & had no coop, so we whipped up a quick wooden brooder & they lived inside with us for 4mo while we completed our current coop. My motto us, never wait til you’re ready, because we’re never really ready.😉
No matter what time of day I complete my project, I wait until the birds are roosted for the night before attempting to catch them if they have a flighty personality. I have some that I could let out and just have them follow me to the new enclosure. Atleast one who thinks he MUST attack on sight and a handful that would prefer to run for their lives 😅
Do you not have any digging predators in you location? I lined the ground around the outside of our run with hardwire cloth to prevent diggers from getting in
