Found a xp385 abandoned under a bush for 5 years in snow country at a friends. The chain was so rusted I cut it off. Cleaned it up, 32" bar full skip, it's a beast and runs like new. NW Cal.

The subdleties/noise of the grinder and air tools etc. are what i like about your videos. It helps me understand how hard those saw heads are.

Hey Donny. Thanks for another great video. Ran the one of your 390s last couple weeks. Man I love it! Makes the job just sweet. I'll be sending out some more end of the summer.

I love your videos donny but it would be cool if you get the time to show how you use those measuring tools,or templates I guess you could call them hanging there on the back of the porting station, not looking numbers or anything just how you use them to get close to your target, they look pretty handy

Nice work donny . I own a logging business located between buffalo and pennsylvania in n.y. for about 30 years now my dad owned and ran it for 40+ years before me . I wld really like to buy a new 500i walkerized of course . If u could please let me know in a comment or something that would be great or I will call the shop someday in the near future . I wld like to start keeping some of ur saws in the wood . Thanks alot for all ur help & knowledge in the videos . Keep ur dremel's in the cylinder's bud .

Grinding on cylinders is therapeutic for me Donny. Ported a small 246 this evening for a feller. I agree also, I believe the 385xp was a better saw than the 390xp. I enjoy your vids and would love to see a shop tour and the old saws. Be safe and have a great weekend.

Since working on piston have question. Do you vapor hone or have step use for clean up on older saws. Or do it old way elbow grease them.

Mr. walker...what are the tools you’re using for measuring your pre determined port height? I’d like to get some....looks quicker than what I’ve been doing..,never seen them before.

I jst ended up with a 385 cause it was cheap used saw with a internal air leak on the crank. Threw a nwp crank and new skf bearings in then had it ported and machined. Turned out good

I really like the wider lower transfers on the 385 jug... and I’m totally thinking that the 390 crank needs more counterbalance... just like that huge piston in an xtorq 372 with the same crank counterbalance...what were they thinking there...LMFFAO! It’s all relative and interesting indeed. I really want that split tip shaft for the emery...that’s awesome! Start tossing all your old burrs into a little box...I know a guy that you can send them on too to help him with his porting work... LMFFAO!!! Keep your saw out of the dirt! 😂😂😂👍
