We are so HYPED for this series! Thank you everyone for being here and a special shoutout to those who watched the Onimusha playthrough! This is going to be one epic journey. Take care and enjoy the episode :) - Eric & Sarah
@@gg8264Should've used that extra money to keep in all the Guarma and New Austin content instead of spending millions on small details like railroad spikes being hammered in and woodpeckers making actual holes in trees. They went way too far into the realism aspect.
Another amazing fact was after this game was released, the island of tsushima ended up facing a typhoon and one of their oldest shrines got damaged a priest set up a crowdfunding campaign to get the shrine restored. he was asking for $50,000 but when the fans of this game found out, they helped out greatly and ended up raising $250,000!
56:35 It's implied that Jin's father is the wind. Yuriko said earlier: "your father is the wind at your back". The wind also flew around Jin's sword when he got those arrows in his back. And i just love that. Not only is it an awesome gameplay mechanic to follow the wind instead of having a minimap, but also that Jin's father shows him the way foward
they also say something along the lines of his mother being the birds in the trees, there's a certain mechanic with birds that makes that make sense as well
Fun fact, one of the reasons the Mongols failed to invade japan was because they got caught in 2 Tsunamis. A interesting thing was the Tsunamis happened outside the usual tsunami season.
Some people actually say that the Samurai of Tsushima successfully defended the Island but the Shogun put a hush hush on it and said that the mongol got defeated because of the Storm.
1:02:11 The start of that opening with the Japanese "Wadaiko" drums thundering in the background as Jin traverse the open plains always gives me goosebumps. This game is amazing in more ways than one.
You guys are in for a treat! Just played this one for myself a month or two ago, and it was all I could think about for the longest! Really hard to tell for sure, but the Khan hits Shimura with the hilt of the sword, knocking him unconscious. It definitely looks like he goes for the beheading though!
I absolutely loved this game. I too adore samurai mythos and culture - I have watched a ton of Kurosawa movies and actually read the biography of Miyamoto Musashi, the creator of the two-sword style of fencing - and this game nailed it completely. Not only that, but it perfectly captured what a true historical ninja was actually like - not some ding-dong in black pajamas and a bad mullet. I can't wait for this series. Have fun!
It's because it's popular in western media and Japan culture is used in anime , movies and videos so of course the mongols will be painted as black and bad
Ayyyyy this is a pleasant surprise! Was not expecting you guys to play through this any time soon! Very glad to see it's the directors cut. You guys are gonna love Iki Island. I've been wanting react gamers to play through the Metal Gear Solid series - even suggested it to you guys, and then I realized that you can't buy the HD collection in the PS store anymore! Very upset. Though a Master Collection is coming out in the fall so, hopefully I can convince a bunch of gaming TH-camrs to play through at least the first three games. It's a terrific series. Very emotional, impactful, poignant, fantastical, and outrageous.
this game is so good !! i still need to play the dlc. combat, story, and characters in this game are top tier. one of my fav parts is definitely the music !!
If you don't mind a tip, one of the first techniques I would pick up is one with the falling roll. Jin can't jump very far without taking damage, and it doesn't regenerate out of combat until you get the charm that allows for that. So with the technique learned, you'll be able to jump off some fairly tall heights and, as long as you time it right with the circle button, not take any damage as Jin goes into a forward roll.
Been waiting on this playthrough lol. Don't be afraid to play on Lethal. Having your enemy's attacks be as dangerous as yours can motivate you to not be afraid to go all out. And surviving big encounters feel all the more rewarding.
I recommended red dead revolver to play but another great western game as well is GUN from 2005. It’s what gave the inspiration to rockstar for red dead redemption cause red dead revolver was a linear game unlike 1 & 2. I think y’all would really love both of them. Also GUN has a lot of famous actors as the voices of the characters. Like Thomas Jane who was punisher in the 2000’s film, he’s the protagonist. And there is plenty more :)
EYYYY YOOOOO, you always bring a smile to my face. I hope you guys are prepared for this remake season upon us. I have to recommned Max Payne 1-3, and would love to see Sarah play Alan Wake(which already had a remaster released so play that lol). Of course, if you have access to a PS3 or 360, those games can be played. I also have to recommoned my favorite PS4 game, Death Stranding, although for that game I think I'd watch you guys stream it. Happy Tuesday, you'll be at 10k yet.
@@Jack_of_Blades_1980 According to the 2012 Encyclopedia of Japanese Martial Arts, iaijutsu (originally known as battojutsu) is one of the koryu schools of martial arts practiced by samurai since the eighth century. I've never seen it referred to only by iai, although it wouldn't surprise me if it were. The technique apparently has many names over the years.
I think out of all the hack and slash I've ever played this had the best combat by far. Just remember to use roll responsibly one button press to dodge, two to roll. If you nail that button in panic you'll roll when you don't mean to and end up too far away to counterattack. This game is a literal and figurative work of art.
There's a lot I really enjoyed about this game, but one thing that bothered me was that I found it way too easy. I started the game on normal, moved to hard, and eventually ended the game on lethal. Yes, on my first playthrough, and I don't consider my overall gaming skills to more than average. The "ghost weapons" are particularly OP, so much so that I ended up doing a little research and found out that they were purposely designed to be that way because it fits in with the story (I won't say how, but you'll figure it out as you progress through it). I'm actually playing the game again, this time on hard, but trying not to use ghost weapons. It's bittersweet, because I feel like if you have a weapon than it's silly to not use it. I will be curious to see how you decide to use them and if you feel like they make the game too easy the way I did. It's a fun game though. Enjoy! P.S. The digital deluxe horse is no better than the others. It is kinda funny how they tried to push you into choosing it though. lol
I do hope that y'all check out Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in the future, Eric. Now THAT is a game with some EXCELLENT katana combat. Yer gonna love it and hate it lol
It's been a while since I've watched your content. I recently started playing Ghost of Tsushima and your playthrough came up on my YT feed. Since you seemed to like the combat, you might get a kick out of Hellblade 2 Senua's Saga. It's a shorter game that's only 6 or 7 hours, but it's quite good and the swordplay reminds me a bit of GoT in that it's very gory and visceral but the game itself it pretty cinematic. You might want to look into it for a future playthrough. I realize this video's been out for quite a while, but maybe you're still noticing new comments.
what a BEAUTIFUL game this is! it's really hard cause I really know that the second one got announced recently which means I'm pretty sure I've gotta get a Ps5. i dropped $1800 on a Gaming PC and that made me want to hold off until there was an exclusive I wanted. and well.. GoT 2 is one of them. Can't express how happy I am I found this channel, it really gives me motivation to get my ass back into editing to post so I can start trying to build my own
Just discovered you two. Trying to catch up. Didn't see it on your YT channel so would like to put in a request for Sarah to play *Gone Home*. Made by a few of the people involved in Firewatch. Keep doing what you're doing.
I will advise you to approach this game like red dead and explore everything you can since you're on hard difficulty you're gonna actually need to improved really quickly with better weapons armors and more importantly charms
Yeah kinda funny how lethal is actually easier in some ways there. Removes the role playing game limitations of your sword being a pool noodle. Probably harder to acquire a muscle memory for individual enemies attacks that way though. Less exposure to it right.
Oh lawd guys, get your tissues ready for this game. Only reason it didn’t win game of the year was because The last of us 2 was up against it. Have fun and enjoy! *edit* I’m glad you guys picked the English version, the Japanese dub is okay, but the amount of effort the devs put into finding the right VA’s for the character models is so important, especially considering it was made by western devs, I’m Japanese myself and the Japanese VA’s go way to anime for something that is a genuine and serious game.
You should change your button scheme there's only one that different for right hand players but it's the one where you use triangle to interact, game was a 100 times more fluid and it just feels better and more like most other games.
Also, I don't know if you want to play with this at all, but there are filters in the settings that will literally make the game grainy black-and-white, in the style of a Kurosawa movie. Do with this information as you will. ⛩
I don't know how this would work in streaming the game on TH-cam, but I found the best experience came from switching the language to Japanese. It's more immersive. Maybe for off-screen playing? Go for it, Sarah. 🙂
If you read the text we inserted at that moment, you would know that Sarah named her horse Roach. She did it because Witcher 3 is one of her favorite games.
