My daughter plays a life cleric of a war god. She likes to say things like "I can break every bone in your body while naming them. Then I will only heal them if you can name them back."
8:21 Calling someone back through the doors of death isn't inherently evil. It's when you create something that just stands in the doorway and disrupts traffic that brings up controversy.
Possibly the Oath of Redemption and Peace Cleric as well. Not sure about playing either of these though. Concept is great, having to refrain from beatdowns would hurt my soul.
Idea for a Life Cleric--a guy named Deathblood Hellkill Boneslash III, who just wants to help people and is sick and tired of dealing with his edgelord assassin relatives. He's the white sheep of the family.
While Life Cleric is definitely THE 'healbot', they can still combine Guardian of Faith, Spiritual Weapon and Spirit Guardians to deny the enemies a LOT of area.
@Kefkaownsall That only applies if you are using the new spell while using the old subclass. (It also really shouldn't, the spell isn't that strong and it's one of the dumbest choices they've made in 2024.)
The take care of yourself and last rough months HIT HARD. Coming from a father of two who left the IT world to become a counselor during the pandemic. Thank you.
One of the underrated aspects of this subclass is that you always have Cure Wounds, Healing Word, and Spiritual Weapon prepared. Which means you can prepare spells you normally wouldn't otherwise.
My DM warned us we would need a life domain cleric when we started CoS. I volunteered and he was right, if I hadn't been a life domain we would have been murdered long before we got to Strahd.
11:00 Ok, have slots to keep scrolls, potions, and other supplies affixed on the back side of a shield is very creative and innovative. I like that idea.
I play a Life Domain Cleric half Dwarf Half Tabaxi named Zarba Rook! Imagine a 6 foot tall Tabaxi that looks a mix between a Lynx and a Snow Leopard with a dark red cloak and blue eyes. A Golden Heart mixed with a learned psychopath wielding a light crossbow
I have a Former Captain of a fleet of Warships. A lvl 10 dwarf of the god Tempus with 24 AC + shield of faith and shield. Cleric/artificier (life domain/steel defender) in a steampunk world where steel defenders are warfoges, DM let us create a sheet for them. I made steel defender cleric forge domain!! Best duo ever
I wish other classes could be better healers, like the artificer-alchemist, with some tweaks & some homebrew could become one. If the Alchemist subclass had a Fumigation Tool (pretty much a pest killing air powered gun & tank that people use in real life.) it would allow for you to disperse potions at a distance to players & poison enemies. In my head, you could fill the tank with up to like 3 doses of any one potion type (which you would actually have to own those potions) & the number would increase as you leveled. I haven't really refined the idea but I was going to say, this tool could be held with an offhand & during a fight, you could use a bonus action to spray a charge of the gun onto an enemy or another player. The gun would add an extra 1d4 to any potion or poison effect & can spray someone 15ft away. The tool would only be allowed to be recharged during a short or long rest. There would probably be a list of poisons & potions not compatible with the tool for gameplay reasons & you could flavor it as the poison/potion being too thick to become mist & be sprayed or too acidic for the tool to hold (with poisons/acids). Idk, just my random homebrew idea that would really improve and flavor the Alchemist as a potion expert as well as a tinkerer because this subclass would be the only character who would have access & be able to use the tool.
im trying to make a charcter and im stuck between making an armorer artificer plasmoid or life cleric plasmoid where its a slime brought to life by an alchemist but one is smart and builds stuff or the other one was a healing potion that came to life and now is a healer
@skulldar My most recent character is a Artificer - Armorer but they are a Triton (Merfolk, but my DM allowed me to look similar to Mind Flayers, because we sort of created a new oceanic playable race that uses the Octopus as the starting idea..but all of my traits and such are just as the Tritons are in 5e) My character created a suit which consists of a large circular tank, which is where a person's stomach is located & it is filled with water. I stay in that tank & the suit filters the air & adds fresh Oxygen into my environment. It was quite a shocker to my party when I finally removed the plate cover that I would cover the exposed tank, to blend in as an armored human. They all gasped and laughed when they finally realized I was pretty much an octopus who was just operating the suit instead of being a pretty buff human.
Ok…so this is weird timing, but during my last session, my friend’s satyr fighter no shit ACTUALLY killed a Bulette with a headbutt. She’s usually an archer, but had to pull a desperation move, or else risk the opportunity attack that absolutely would’ve bitten her in half 😂

This may be the best explanation I’ve ever heard.
devotion paladin and life cleric, the two golden retriever subclasses subclasses with the biggest golden retriever energy in all of D&D.
And both of them are exactly one massive crit away from becoming Alexander Anderson at any given point

@@Kefkaownsall A fair point. Maybe a Dancing Sword then? Assuming, of course, that the DM is willing to 'play along'.

Life Cleric just got better with improved healing spells in 2024 PHB. I don't know if you can keep everyone up all day, but I think I'm going to try.

Hoping you get to hunter conclave ranger at some point 🏹. Especially with Tashas additions to ranger it makes it a fun class to play
