Always loved playing a Genie Warlock with the Pact of the Tome. Always loved the idea that the genie was trapped in the pages of a picture book, and that's where you take your little rests. It combines both the subclass and the pact really well, and while a little suboptimal, it's reallyyyy fun and thematic, and makes for some pretty little vistas to rest in. Bonus points if your DM lets you thematically 'capture' some slain enemies inside your book, and you can go on to publish those stories.
A party i was part of once had a pretty nice synergy with the genie warlock and my monk where the wizard in our party would cast haste on my monk and everyone but me would get into the genie vessel so i could just step of the wind double dash around the battlefield and drop everyone off at strategic places
It's not easy being Grung -- unless you have a Marid Genie patron. Have the genie's vessel half full of water so you swim in a pool every day. No mater where you are, you won't suffer from water dependency. The Marid could look like big ol' toad like Gamabunta instead of a fish...
That is exactly the build I am playing in a campaign right now. Pushing level 12 and loving it. I’m pact of the chain, so my sprite (who used to be an imp,but change because reasons) carries the party in the bottled respite in the form of a ring chained round his neck. We love it because we can travel long distance over night and get long rests. The DM hates it.
Wildfire druid would be cool. I'd like to see your take on a druid that uses fire to protect nature by cleansing deadwood, blight, and the ocassional town.
I had a genasi genie warlock whose whole thing was saving her and her father (patron's) home from being destroyed. The only reason she went out to protect her home is because if her dad did, he would do it in the most destructive way possible
While pact of the chain is flavorfull, nothing beats pact of the tome and the moon invocation, now during your long rests you can do light activity, so while everyone is sleeping you can just sit in your vessel and have some alone time, put on some LoFi, read some books and listen to the rain thats pouring down outside.
One specific situation I think would be hilarious is if the Genielock's Vessel is a fancy ring and the party is looking for a thief or something the Warlock can just hang out inside their vessel and let one of the other guys carry it and be used as bait for the thief. Then when the ring is stolen they can just pop out and catch the guy
Our warlock had a gold coin as his. We infiltrated a castle by hopping in it and placing it in front of a gaurd patrol route right, his imp stayed outside the barrier surrounding it and kept eyes on the gaurd who picked it up and when the gaurd was isolated and his buddy were isolated everyone but the wizard and warlock popped out and disposed of the guards. The wizards familiar then picked up the coin and placed it on the where the 2 used several fireballs as "distractions" so the rest of the group could rescue the Bob in the dungeon. Only the wizard and warlock survived the attempt.
9:01 Been forever since I heard that sound effect, I giggled XD But the best use of this class is pulling your party into the vessel and having your familiar fly it to the top of a tree or bury it in the ground, then roll your eyes when the DM has to go out of their way to contrive an encounter to interrupt your siesta.
A Jigalo Genie Warlock could be funny to play. Some dude is just some Noble Genie’s plaything and you get paid with magic powers. It’s like an actual Sugar Daddy/Sugar Momma Subclass.
Can't believe you didn't mention the Cheese Grater™where you choose the Dao genie and pick up the 2nd level spell Spike Growth and two invocations: Grasp of Hadar and Repelling Blast. This allows you to move your target 20ft on your first Eldritch Blast like a yo-yo and then 10ft backward on any other blasts. Additionally, when a target moves 5ft within the area of Spike Growth they take 2d4 damage. This allows you to grate an enemy over the spikes repeatedly. The Dao also gives you bludgeoning damage, which would allow the Crusher feat to move them another 5ft in any direction. Also just for fun you can fly directly over an enemy and use Grasp of Hadar to pull them 10ft + crusher feat 5ft in the air. Causing 1d6 fall damage and knocking them prone. Enjoy :)
I've done this as a teamwork build...my ranger using Spike Growth and general pew-pewing, druid using Thorn Whip and Plant Growth (most creatures get 1 square of movement), and warlock with Repelling Blast and Grasp of Hadar. Locks down anything that can't fly, and they only move when you make them. Spike Growth is an amazing anti-minion spell, too.
My favorite genie warlock character took Pact of the Blade (as a barbarian multiclass), and essentially tricked an efreeti countess into _employing_ rather than enslaving her ("I wish to be the freest of your servants"). And since she technically had the freedom of a lesser efreeti but none of the actual _privileges_ , the warlock/patron story basically wrote itself.
Play the genie warlock for a one shot changeling with packs of the talisman. Pretty useful. Eventually was going to take two levels in sorcerer to get distant spell to snipe with Eldridge blast
Love this warlock three points: - I know you don’t want to talk about the spells but the spells are so good (most of them). The hijinks you can get into with creation is off the “chains”. - Limited wish requires the spell cast to only take 1 action to cast. So anything that takes 10 minutes or the like is off the table. So what if you can’t get a Find Steed, you can do Revivify, Wall of Force. or Mass Cure wounds in a pinch - You can have your Dragon and when you know you are going to have to have more ump Recast Find Familiar and choose what you like again. :)
pseudodragon is pretty solid! It's sting attack is strong once you have Investment of the Chain Master to make people fall unconscious if they fail the save by 5 or more.
love myself a Genie Warlock. it's my 2nd favourite Warlock after Undead, which I find even better at locking down enemy positions at low level due to it's ability to instill fear on every hit basically creating this invisible wall around you as they are unable to move closer to you. Still holdin' out for Rune Knight and Trickery Cleric.
Honestly played as a Fire Genasi with a efreeti patron that was his mother, Mask of Many Faces, The Actor Feat and Pact of The Chain let me get away with a ton of double dealing. Also Investment of the Chain Master made Sprite very good. The save to Poison or Knock creatures out being your spell save DC makes it way more reliable and like the imp it can be invisible and attack with advantage from a distance.
There's a couple of things that make Dao Genie amusing to me: Spike Growth plays really nice with Repelling Blast Crusher feat + Dao Genie's Wrath gives you a free 5 feet of knock back per turn as long as you can land a hit of any kind. Taking Crossbow Expert feat so you can Eldritch Blast some poor bastard directly up for 10-45 feet will never not be funny. Ring vessel + Flying familiar + Party joining you in your mobile home = Genie Airlines. Give your ring to your familiar, hold a slumber party in your ring, instruct your familiar to carry your ring while flying to your destination. The Imp Familiar is invisible and, in Raven form, has a 60 ft fly speed. Even if the DM rules Impy can't take Raven form and concentrate on invisibility, the option is solid. Besides, night flights at high altitude are pretty hard to touch, and it only takes a turn to shift between (dropping concentration is a free action).
What makes this perfect is the excellent roll play opertunities to give you the edge..play an air genasi and work towards making yourself look as much like a dijiin as possible... Say an unsuspecting enemy finds your lanp...thinking its a real genie lamp they give it a rub...come out and give em a real show..let them think your only desire is to grant them a wish...once they do...use your wiah to give it to them in a way they wont like....the suprise...out pops your party ready and armed for the ambush of the century!
Now starting as a Draconic Bloodline (Silver Dragon) Sorcerer at 1st-level then going Air Djinni Warlock up to Warlock 6 before taking Pact of Sorcerer 4 then Warlock all the way. The campaign goes up to 12th-level for now.
I once played a Genie Warlock that was a Genasi that had studied his whole life how to get to the elemental plane to get his Genie dad to play child support. And when they finally met he was like “fair enough, here’s some magic”.
I like to flavor that the Chain familiar is the chosen genie in disguise so that people don't scream bloody mary when the genie is outside his bottle/lamp/etc
Fuck yes with that Chronomancer's Guide To The Future 2 shootout! I love Chronomancy! (If I got any typos it's because I'm trying to channel my Dwarf Genie Warlock who wished to an Efreet for smithing prowess)
I use Investment of the Chain Master with the Pseudodragon so now it’s Poison which lasts an hour and can knock creatures out scales with my Spellsave DC. Add a player with the Poisoner’s Kit and we can build a stockpile of the stuff.
You're thinking of "Grasp of Hadar." Repelling Blast: When you hit a creature with eldritch blast, you can push the creature up to 10 feet away from you in a straight line. Repelling blast has no limitation.
The thing about Warlock is not that he has lower number of spell slots its that its specialized and you need to know how to do it. A warlock will have lv5 4 slots at maximum , if you are a genie you can do a rest in 10 minutes so that is 8 slots per day. A wizard has 3lv5 3lv4 and 3lv3 slots the 8 slots if you take into consideration the upcast are the same in power. For lv1 slots a wizard has 4 slots but the warlock has invocation(Mask of many faces and misty visions make you a good spy and illusionist), that cancels the lv1 slots For the other lv2 slots you have other invocations that make up for that and if you want the single ability to fly with a genie without concentration is like having a better fly
I was playing a time displaced warlock wo used their prismari familiar (fractal) as a flying mount to save their mom from dying (yeah feels terminator but not bein a chosen one) it was fun I was trying to save my previous character who dyed to a jerk player but we roleplayed it to make it fun
Would it be my DREAM to multiclass Genie Warlock+Divination Wizard+Aberant Mind Sorcerer and just be an astrologer manager who senses whats going to work best and telepathically give my allies orders from my special office/apartment? I even get a boywife genie and a sprite assistant???
Personal experience with Genie Warlock A Earth Genasi with Dao Patron and use Pact of the tome making them a REALLY strong caster focused Warlock Oh yeah, and Hex is pretty trash.... on the same level as why Hunters Mark is trash
How are we gonna pass over the Armor of Shadows Invocation? Free mage armor is easily one of the best ways to avoid dying and conserve those limited spell slots.
Pact of the chain tends to be highly overrated, especially if you have a DM that allows the alternative familiars like tressym, flying monkey, oblex spawn, or an imp that gives magic resistance and you can do this with pact of tome and PoT has better invocations in most campaigns
Also with a ring and the eberon book crystal you could claim your vessel is the tome as the tome projects the symbols you need for the ritual and you trace them yata yata yata flavor is free
Yeah, but you can't get a Quasit, or Chain Master... your reasons are legitimate except I dismiss them entirely because of the Quasit. WhY doesn't anyone else want a caterpillar carrying their ring up a castle wall? They shoot at Ravens and bats! Make your ring a string with a knot to hold your house= Quasit is the best thing in D&D
@Bacon_and_Busch yes the 3 chain types and the 3 situational chain only invocations can be nice but most of what chain can do a tome familiar can do (especially if you and your DM have stibbles) as even if you have a bad enough DM that can honestly claim that the guys would truly shoot a random bird there's still plenty of options to get you in ans you get other rituals (solving a lot of slot limitations) 3 more cantrips from any class and at higher warlock lvls a free death ward and/or sending

Everything else is just "elemental flavor of the week". Nothing that provides a full on distinct game plan suitable for most encounters.
So, uh, I'm late... but your math is wrong The answer is slightly more than 314 square feet for the genie vessel to find the square footage of a circle is: 𝜋r² 𝜋=3.14159.... it goes on r= ½ diameter ²= the number×itself r=10 (for a 20' circle) squared (10×10)= 100×𝜋(3.1415926)= about 314 square feet. I think you squared the diameter, not the radius. Mostly I'm just... algorithm stuff, dont know if it helps for "older" videos, but I did it irregardless (which is now a real word)
"These first 2 aren't the most important but... "
"Agonizing blast"
I never looked down at my phone so fast lol

publishing your trapped enemies as a childs picture book nails the "rule of cool" so hard that i demand all DMs allow it!
You played Myst, didn't you?
You're inside the book and your familiar carries it around and keeps it safe. 🥰
Okay now we need "you might be a Cronomancer".
And we need another Bard class that will loose the vote so Cronomancer wins.
Chronomancer is awesome. Shoving Haste into a tiny bead and giving it to your monk or someone is honestly so handy.
His Chronomancer video is excellent, I remember watching next week with a big smile on my face.
its been a year, you think he gonna do it soon?
A party i was part of once had a pretty nice synergy with the genie warlock and my monk where the wizard in our party would cast haste on my monk and everyone but me would get into the genie vessel so i could just step of the wind double dash around the battlefield and drop everyone off at strategic places
That's hilarious, I love it.
Battlefield taxi monk. A brilliant stratagem.

My current grung is a monk that carries a gourd of pond water on his back as part of his strength training
I'm so glad this subclass exists because I've been working on an Arabian Nights setting for a while now
Wildfire druid would be cool. I'd like to see your take on a druid that uses fire to protect nature by cleansing deadwood, blight, and the ocassional town.

This chanel did such a weird thing. Found the formula on the first video and just started cooking
I'd go Dao patron, get grasp of hadar & repelling blast. the second a combat kicks off, "I cast spike growth behind the foe & start blasting."
Only 112 comments that’s crazy your content is some of the best on the platform
Thanks man!
I really wanna make one that's a harringon with a top hat as their vessel so they can hide in it.
My favorite warlock subclass by far. and yet another banger of a video keep it up
Love your Takes on the different classes!

Definitely neat to see a focus on a warlock archetype that isn’t Hexblade.
Chronomancer's Guide! Totally waiting for the second installment

First time viewer, but now I'm intrigued and subscribed! I've also played some of the first chronomancer guide, so I'm excited for the next one 🎉
This subclass allows you to get the thing any students want, a room for free
Now starting as a Draconic Bloodline (Silver Dragon) Sorcerer at 1st-level then going Air Djinni Warlock up to Warlock 6 before taking Pact of Sorcerer 4 then Warlock all the way. The campaign goes up to 12th-level for now.
This is my favorite of your videos! Great advice, funny, really well done!

I use Investment of the Chain Master with the Pseudodragon so now it’s Poison which lasts an hour and can knock creatures out scales with my Spellsave DC. Add a player with the Poisoner’s Kit and we can build a stockpile of the stuff.
My first ever character I played was Genie Warlock. Well a black cat tabaxi and more of fencer than eldritch blaster but yeah, I love this subclass.
I am thinking about doing a Genie Warlock dip on my Battle Smith artificer.
Steel Defender can carry the vessel while I am camping inside.
Repelling blast can only effect a creature once per turn. You can knock multiple creatures a turn, but each only once per turn
You're thinking of "Grasp of Hadar."
Repelling Blast: When you hit a creature with eldritch blast, you can push the creature up to 10 feet away from you in a straight line.
Repelling blast has no limitation.

Could you do Dream or Wildfire druids? you videos are so interesting and I love you takes!!
This guy sounds a lot like This old Tony, is this you Tony ?
Great content!
i'm gonna threaten my DM to make a genie patron be kazzam
Dude with the subclass you could double deal by choosing. The race Genasi and getting two elements combined to one with this subclass
pretty sure pact of the chain all so let you summon an elemental mephit of on of the 4 Genie types as well!
Does the Genies vessel include toilet facilities?
Otherwise......
this is what you use your limited wish ability on, once every 1-4 days you get to wish away the contents of all chamber pots inside.
Thanks for the content!
Excellent! Thanks!!! 🎉
Played one in Strahd. Loved it but sadly didn't get to finish it.
I was playing a time displaced warlock wo used their prismari familiar (fractal) as a flying mount to save their mom from dying (yeah feels terminator but not bein a chosen one) it was fun I was trying to save my previous character who dyed to a jerk player but we roleplayed it to make it fun
I love genie warlock
I tell all my friends about genie warlock
genie warlock is my one true love
Forgot to mention the chaos you can create with Quasit/Imp and Flock of Familiars
Im from the future. And it indeed has been out for a while.
Im even more from the future and it indeed has been out for a while.
Spicy, Breeze, Grainy, and Wet 😂😂😂
Keep it up
Wildfire Druid next ??
Haven't played him yet but I have a genie warlock from Eberron inspired by the golden age Green Lantern.
Yanti Pureblood would be fun with this.
Shame Genie Warlocks don't get Mephits as familiars, fits their elemental theme better, might need to buff them a bit to match the CR1 imp
I would love for you to do a “You Might be a Swashbuckler”
I'm picturing a genasi nepo baby 😄
I want to do a character where their patron is the worst genie in the world and only uses their warlocks to grant wishes.
Personal experience with Genie Warlock
A Earth Genasi with Dao Patron and use Pact of the tome making them a REALLY strong caster focused Warlock
Oh yeah, and Hex is pretty trash.... on the same level as why Hunters Mark is trash
Do you host online games ? I would absolutely love to join one of your campaigns. Even if it is paid or something
Feet? Where we're going we don't need feet!
This is awesome. I play a Dae my self
How are we gonna pass over the Armor of Shadows Invocation? Free mage armor is easily one of the best ways to avoid dying and conserve those limited spell slots.
Or... use the Warlock's Light Armor Proficiency/be a race with natural armor
There's no rubbing-related subclasses left, right?
They live in a TARDIS
Hey
Okay so. Can the giene vessel be a container on top of a turtle?...Asking for a friend
Yes. Take a turtle familiar, and strap it to the little guy
Abherant mind sorcerer
Vuman
Telekinetic feat
Dao gene
Agonizing and repelling blast
Spike growth
Profit
Repelling Blast, aka the Fus Ro Dah spell
Can you do the totemist
Awesome!
Look at the glock again
this video needed more aldin jokes
what are a best races to choose for a Genie Warlock?
Oathbreaker Paladin pls
I’m from the future.
Pact of the chain tends to be highly overrated, especially if you have a DM that allows the alternative familiars like tressym, flying monkey, oblex spawn, or an imp that gives magic resistance and you can do this with pact of tome and PoT has better invocations in most campaigns

The people in the castle shoot at Ravens and bats. Caterpillars don't, as far as I know.
Soulknife rouge
The live action Aladin movie with Will Smith is wonderful and I will die on this hill!
It's a Whole New World*
Reskin your imp familiar as a mephit and voilà !
The only spell worth listing is spike growth under Dao. You combine it with repelling grasp and grasp of hadar to just cheese grater enemies over a damaging hazard.
Everything else is just "elemental flavor of the week". Nothing that provides a full on distinct game plan suitable for most encounters.
Coffee pot dao
Time travel sucks.
Technicnically you can see once a patron gives you power unlike a god they cant really take it away your like more of a sorc now
So, uh, I'm late... but your math is wrong
The answer is slightly more than 314 square feet for the genie vessel
to find the square footage of a circle is: 𝜋r²
𝜋=3.14159.... it goes on
r= ½ diameter
²= the number×itself
r=10 (for a 20' circle) squared (10×10)= 100×𝜋(3.1415926)= about 314 square feet.
I think you squared the diameter, not the radius.
Mostly I'm just... algorithm stuff, dont know if it helps for "older" videos, but I did it irregardless (which is now a real word)
It's a 20ft radius, not 20ft diameter. He was right
A genie warlock without a multi class is lame
the genie goes with the genasi like the hexblade with the shadar kai
DO SOULKNIFE!!!! 🫶🫶
