Okay while Eloquence Bard is great, let's make it the last one when voting is open, so YMBA can end this season on a high note with a OP class that makes DMs cry.
100% accurate. I ran a one shot, and a friend played a Harengon Trickery Cleric...to say it became a Bugs Bunny cartoon because of it, would be completely true.
About Modify Memory, friendly reminder as a DM that it's a very good counter to a Polymorphed T-Rex, as they have very weak save against this spell, so it's easy to convince them that their party betrayed them (and since the T-Rex is very dumb, it won't think twice about it before being transformed back and regaining their Intelligence). Easy dominate beast without concentration.
one use for the cloak of shadows feature, while not the strongest, it does work well with invoke duplicity, since it doesn't use concentration. Essentialy what you can do is use invoke duplicity, then use the use cloak of shadows to go invisible and use to get away while the your duplicate is distracting your foe/pursuer, kinda like a budget version of mislead.
Fr honestly bg3 portrays trickery cleric so badly and im saying this as someone who loves the subclass. She sucks at it, particularly at hiding her worship and pulling off in story tricks.
trickery domain multiclasses REALLY well with either assassin rogue or thief rogue. roll a drow, split cleric levels with assassin and paladin and you have a drow judicator or even a favored consort of lolth. Loved that character
I always loved that Forgotten Realms novel trilogy about Everis Cale who was a Chosen of Mask. He was a rogue / trickery cleric, which was a super interesting combination. It wasn't a prankster archetype, more like a priest of a sneaky rogue god. (the god Mask)
One of my favorite Characters was a Halfling Rogue 1 / Trickery Cleric 3, worshipper of Tymora. I reflavored every spell and feature as the character manipulation the odds with sheer luck from Lady Tymora! - Guidance? Luck - Bless? More Luck - Pass WIthout trace? still luck, nobody look to where we our!
Its cool seeing your take on this class, ive played with three separate trickery clerics and each one has at some point developed sticky finger to the point the party basically cut holes in their pockets and bags so they couldn't steal anything remotely shiny when we werent looking directly at them.
Don't forget the Gentleman Bastard Series for thematic inspiration. Locke Lamora, priest of the Nameless Thirteenth/the Crooked Warden, is a quintessential trickery cleric using thievery/deception as a religious practice
Just to address a misconception in the video, Blessing of the trickster states, "Starting when you choose this domain at 1st level, you can use your action to touch a willing creature other than yourself to give it advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks. This blessing lasts for 1 hour or until you use this feature again." Thus you cannot use it on yourself. The more you know.
@@youmightbeadnd no problem, honestly if a gm allowed the cleric to self cast it I genuinely don’t see a balance issue with it lmao but eh, that’s warlocks of the shoreline for yah
@@wavecycle that’s really not as strong as you think when you consider that rogues get a higher ac from studded leather light armor with a good ac than they do from the best medium armors that give disadvantage to stealth. Plus, it’s stealth and not invisibility so you still need to be heavily obscured. If you can explain how advantage on stealth is more broken than a paladin/sorcerer/hexblade multiclass or coffeelock maybe I’ll believe it was balanced with multiclassing in mind and almost nothing else in the game was lol
yeah the "player handbook effect" is why I am both looking forward and dreading the new one this year, still the playtest version of Trickery was alright.
Great video dude! Love the Trickery Cleeic and the mischievous vibes it has, but also how well it lends itself to stealthy deceptive gameplay shenanigans with sleight of hand like tricks. The fact that you can have up to eight versions of you on the battlefield at level 17 is as side achingly funny for the players as it is aneurism incoming for your DM. A great subclass all up - not my favourite necessarily (Twilight for the win), but definitely great for roleplay elements. If I ever play this subclass, I know who I’m having as my deity of worship: the gopher from Caddyshack XD
Something about pairing Trickery Cleric with Feywander Ranger just feels right. 3 levels to let the wisdom focused trickster add wisdom to all Charisma skill checks, allowing them to function as a party face is really strong. Maybe add in the Druidic Warrior fighting style for Wisdom scaling when you have to get involved with melee combat. 5th level for multi attack and misty step. Go either 3 or 5 ranger and cleric the rest of the way and I think you're gonna have so much fun
I think I'm going to have my fiery Dragonborn sorcerer multiclass into this route because she often likes to play fiery pranks on others. She's also chaotic neutral due to an unfortunate curse placed on her the night after her birth (that almost got her killed) and her parents' attempts to mitigate said curse.
In an RP heavy game... This Subclass is amazing. While the Cleric combo of Spiritual Weapon and Spirit Guardians is the typical combo, lean into the dex a bit and you also have an incredibly sneaky character... just remember... the cloak of shadows doesn't have to be used only in combat. At the table this subclass rocks, and I speak from years of experience running one.
A video about trickery domain cleric, mentioning the sheer insanity that is Jester and Laura Bailey, and having innuendo in the video? Yep, the Traveller has blessed this one lol.
Clerics never appealed to me much, but today the last player to join a group is opting to pick Cleric so I went to look at their subclasses and I had no clue there was such a variety.
Imma say it, this subclass has the best expanded list in the entire game. On top of all the majors hits cleric usually has, now you have a bunch of the best spells in the game that aren't on the cleric list. The features are weak but remember that spells are features and having so many good spells in one puts it above many cleric subclasses that may have good features but not good spell lists.
This is by far my favorite cleric subclass. Sure, it's not super powerful, but doing that isn't fun for me because I already know how to "break" the game.
I know this isn't the best choice mechanically (Action Economy effing sucks) but I'm running an Echo-Knight Fighter (6) / Trickery Domain Cleric (4) after Strahd himself decided to shove the soul of my prior character into my echo...
Multiclass this with the arcane trickster and you get the trickery trickster.
Literally building this as we speak.
The Rick Roll was triggering. And yet, perfect.
Okay while Eloquence Bard is great, let's make it the last one when voting is open, so YMBA can end this season on a high note with a OP class that makes DMs cry.
I always vote for Eloquence 😊
We finally got trickery cleric. I'm happy. So I'll help you get Eloquence Bard as the finale!
Eloquence Bard makes me cry as a PLAYER. When dice rolls effectively become pointless like... What's the point of playing when you CAN'T fail?
Been doing that already. I love alchemist and kinda wanna see a video on it XD
As my DM described it: “You wanna play Loki?”
You DM is bold to invite such mischief.
A Harengon Trickery Cleric is Bugs Bunny comitting to a bit.
100% accurate. I ran a one shot, and a friend played a Harengon Trickery Cleric...to say it became a Bugs Bunny cartoon because of it, would be completely true.
@@ATK1734 It’s what Bugs deserves.

@shadowldrago hell yeah Elmer( the unblessed term)

These videos are really becoming one of those things I really look forwards to each week. I really like hearing about this odd and random classes.

I had no sound on this video and thought it was part of the gag

Ah Shart... the trickster Cleric that people respec into any other subclass as soon as they can....
And if you're old, I'm Ancient ....
I waited until it was thematically appropriate to respec her
Fr honestly bg3 portrays trickery cleric so badly and im saying this as someone who loves the subclass. She sucks at it, particularly at hiding her worship and pulling off in story tricks.
This might be just the right Cleric subclass to mix with Rogue to multiclass as a holy agent of a thief god.
ANOTHER CHARACTOR SHEET MADE, I grow stronger with every video

A Trickery Cleric, a Trickster a Rogue and a Satire Bard walk into a bar.....
The DM quit.
I would love to hear your take on the Death Domain Cleric! You do these so well and make them fun!
Might just be me, but I think Trickery Domain works better at the table than in BG3. I usually change Shadowheart to be a War Domain cleric.
Excellent character, atrocious character build
Because the BG3 Trickery Cleric doesn't have a usefull "Invoke Duplicity" Feature
