When I'm in a food or housekeeping slump I come here to watch you. Then I remember all the reasons its worth doing. My family is very grateful for you also in that regard lol.
Hmmm.... I feel like I was sitting in the corner of your kitchen drinking hot cider and listening to the din of children milling n chilling outside. Your channel is a nice place to "come home to". :)
My WIC dietitian told me about a hack some people do. She said to add a can of drained beans to your ground beef or whatever meat you’re using when you start browning it. Apparently it takes the texture of ground meat and doubles your meat amount! I haven’t tried it yet but what a great way to stretch food while adding nourishing benefits!
I love that wic gave you a wonderful tip and that you are passing it on. I love that program and also used all the wonderful services they provided when I was a foster mama ❤❤❤
I do this but with red lentils.. i just wash them and put them in raw. They take only about 15mins to cook so if it's like a meat sauce or something it works great 🥰
You have to be the most amazing cook and homemaker I know on TH-cam. You do not only cook good, you inspire to think outside of the box. Try new things. Not to be afraid to try, just put your hands in it and try. Sure we will probably not make it look as good as you make it but we can get there with practice.
Hey Lisa, I don’t know if you do this, but making your own pasta is a great way to use up eggs! Even making 1 serving for each member in my small family uses 4 eggs, so for your family you could easily use 20 eggs!
You are such an inspiration how you embrace cooking "challenges" and don't let things go to waste.😊 The vegetable soup and grilled cheese looked so delicious and perfect for a chilly day.
Another great video, thank you 🥰 A little tip for you, I saw you light a match on the gas jet to light the candle. If you use a long wooden skewer you can light that multiple times to light your candles 😊
I have so many cuts of meat we don't like either and have been thinking about a good old fashioned meat grinder for the past year. Well God is good! He cares about the little and the big things. I not so randomly saw a manual grinder at our local goodwill ❤. Now I can use up the meat cuts I've been avoiding. 😂
Love this message of making do (and making delicious!) with what we have. This thrifty, frugal mindset can lead to such creativity. Also, I remember loving breakfast for dinner as a child! My mom would make bread pancakes and scrambled eggs and it was the best!!
Look up the food preparation term: VELVETING This process (adding baking soda to sliced flbeef) softens tougher cuts of beef so they can be used for things like orange beef, fajitas, beef teriyaki, etc.
My mother in law refuses to cook in smaller batches even tho they are empty nesters now😅she will cook up a storm and divide it between us and it’s such a blessing some days especially now that I’m almost due with my next. Kiddos eat so much more often than hubby and I and some days it’s exaughsting to keep up with 😊
I usually cook my ham hauks with my beans or peas. I actually buy them for that. They make the broth from the soup so delicious! I love your videos so much! They are so inspiring and encouraging. God bless your weekend.
Congratulations on the book coming out!!!! It looks amazing. Hope you were able to fill that fridge up with your sister's farm meat. It is nice you have family helping you both out like that! Beautiful.
Just ordered the book! I've been baking sourdough for a couple years now (learned from this channel), but I'd love to have the book to get new inspiration and refer back to. I'm so glad you put it all together into a physical cookbook.
Spaetzle or drop noodles are great to add to vegi soup to make it hearty. Egg based, so you still get extra protein. The mix is like a thick batter and then it's dropped by the spoonful into hot broth, water or soup . Cooks in 10 minutes ❤ So delicious for a fall lunch or dinner.
Another good way to use ham hocks is making southern soup beans. I put pinto beans and ham hocks on the stove and cook till a soup like consistency my kids love it.
Love that breakfast sandwich! So simple and so delicious! It's just my husband and I at home and I still make sourdough every week and cook from scratch! Thank you for the inspiration!
I did the same thing when my 3 sons were still at home, they would come home from practice, the house smelled wonderful, you are such an inspiration Lisa! ❤
Same here. Makes me miss my younger years (I'm 58 now) with kids, cats, dogs and chickens and a house full of cooking, yogurt, kombucha and sauerkraut. The good old days!
I love how you don’t seem to over wash/peel veg and fruit Lisa. My Dad used to provide us with loads of organic produce and I just used it as it was (unless it was muddy) and I’ve carried on in this way. He always told me peeling and over boiling produce meant you lost a lot of the goodness 😍
I've been making salmon cakes for years. Please don't be afraid to leave the bones, skin and discs from the can. It's a great source of calcium. When you mash it with a fork , it dissinagrates and you can't see it.❤
Hi Lisa, I got my Daily Sourdough Book today, I love it. Cannot wait to make your recipes. It is very informative, Thank You, Thank You , it is so unique. I live in Missouri to, I believe we are kindred spirits. Your friend , Carolyn R...
I just love watching your videos, Lisa! I could watch them all day. But since I don’t have all day, I usually put them on when I’m soaking in an Epsom salt bath. It’s the perfect way for me to destress.❤
It's all watching you. I had 3 boys growing up and I didn't cook as much as you. But now that I'm 63 I hate to cook. Anyway you can get me wanting to cook? I do make sourdough breads. Also is there a video of your house inside and out? I'd love to see it. Also what are the ages of your children and what chores do your children do?
I recently shared a video on this channel touring my home. As for cooking...I would say find a recipe that you are interested in making....finding a new recipe always helps get me out of a slump
I so agree. For instance,I bought a salted grassfed butter I did not love and some grass-fed meat I do not love as well but this inspires to not waste and just use things because although not always preferable it is still all good food. Thanks for these videos!
I really enjoy watching your channel, although I only have one child and I am a vegetarian, I have lots of folk in and out of our home. I don't ever worry that you are cooking food that is different to mine, I love what you do and I just substitute what we eat for where we are different. Your ideas have ignited me into doing many of my meals in a different way. I want to start making sour bread, thanks for a lovely informative and lovely channel.
My first loaf of sourdough turned out so good! I followed your directions, except I used half all purpose flour and half whole wheat. I’m so excited it turned out!
Loved the video! I have been cooking for the last few weeks from all the leftover items in my fridge and freezer too. I have it cleaned out and plan to do major stock up next weekend. So excited for your cookbook! Just fed my starter plan to do some bagels, bread, English muffins maybe pizza. So thankful for all the recipes and options you have given! Hope you have a great weekend!
Good morning from Niagara Falls Canada my and I are in our late 50s she has been watching your channel for quite awhile now , she would like to give you a recommendation on all the ricotta you have left over she says to make gnocch. They are made with both potatoes or ricotta, but they are much more lighter with ricotta ty
❤ I have been using several of your sourdough recipes and just order your book and can't wait for it to come in! Love your channel and have been inspired by you for many years ❤️
Thanks for the encouragement! I pulled out the short ribs instead of going to the store this morning for tonight’s dinner/tomorrows lunch leftovers Saved me some $$ 😊
Yum yum yum! Those breakfast sandwiches are a big hit in our house too. I always love a reminder that food doesn’t need to be so complicated or fancy. 😊
Just got your cookbook in the mail and love it already! Thank you for printing some of your blog recipes! Some of your recipes are staples for our family (SD hamburger buns, pizza dough, etc.) and I get tired of looking them up online or managing the mess of printed recipes. I am so excited for them in a beautiful, hardback, bound print!
Hello lisa 🌷 I can only imagine how good your home smells ... I have 3 lovely children Sophie 31, Laura 29 & Jak 25. I just wished I'd of made more home cooked meals when they were young. You make it look so easy... have a great weekend 🌷 x
Oh funny I slice my breads like this as well and always feel like I need to give bread slicing lessons to my family when I make them a loaf theirs always looks like they sliced it with their feet 😳🤣😆
Lisa! I am so excited to get your cookbook. I preordered it back when I got the link, I have been stalking the mailbox. 😂 I have always been a real book person vs printed off online. I got into sourdough from watching you. It has been such a game changer for my gut. You make it look so easy. I still can’t get mine to pull and stretch as nicely as you but the results are darn tasty ❤️ (guessing my kitchen is just too cold)
Lisa, I would just like to know how you got your kids to eat the wonderful foods that you make!? We are about to go from 3 to 4 kids and I need to stop being short order cook! Your kids seems to eat such a beautiful variety of foods. Maybe that’s all they are offered so they learn to like it?
Little ones often go through phases as they learn and try new things...stay consistent in offering them everything you are eating...I will deconstruct what we are having for the kids that may be hesitant...for example of I am making soup...I will keep individual components out and serve on a plate with something I know they will eat like bread with butter or blueberries etc. If it is sausage sauerkraut soup for example...hold some of the sausage and potatoes and put that on their plate with some cheese and a little bit of fresh sauerkraut bread butter berries or some other fruit etc. Salads, sandwiches, tacos are all easy to just portion out into little individual portions not mixed together
Our main sources of meat are venison, chicken and Turkey. We try not to eat much pork. We do however use either the lard or ham hock ground up with our ground up venison burger. I swear it's the best burger meat ever. I'm like you, I cook on a whim, no meal planning. Meal planning means i have to prepare and think ahead. I'm just not built to do that. 😂😂😂😂
I had gotten into the rhythm of doing this, then I hit a wall this month, no idea why. This video is a bit of a motivation to get back into that rhythm.🙏
Wow I loved all of your meals. I’ve been making sourdough bread and other recipes too. English muffins next. I can’t wait to get my cookbook. My first sourdough cookbook.
So funny I am watching your video. I turned it on to listen to while going through all my not so favorite choice cut meats and finding recipes. I didn’t even look to see the title. Isn’t it exciting to get fresh meat for the year and having the whole freezer to choose from?
Not to mention the Savings! Got our Steer last Saturday and picking up our Hog tomorrow. Big output, Big Savings. I start saving as soon as I pick up, for the next year.

I do love making pasta and that is a great idea.
I was just thinking about making/eating pasta and poof here's your post. I love all things pasta and potatoes. Can eat them both every day. Be well. 😊
Lisa, i am writing to you from Kerala, India.
When i am exhausted from mundane activites i watch your videos. Your voice is comforting.❤
I am so glad you find the channel encouraging! Thanks for watching from across the world.
Girl, I have 7 kids. We cook the bacon on a sheet pan in the oven. 400 for 15 minutes. All at once and no babysitting!
That’s what I do to cook our bacon and it’s so good and easy. Plus I save the grease in my fridge to cook with later.
8 kids here and same!!
I e watched her do that
Same. Such a time saver. 🙂
425 for 10min;)
You are such an inspiration how you embrace cooking "challenges" and don't let things go to waste.😊 The vegetable soup and grilled cheese looked so delicious and perfect for a chilly day.
I love watching your videos. Sometimes I get in a rut. Watching your videos will give me ideas ❤❤❤. Thank you so much. Have a blessed day Lisa
I’m glad you get inspired!
Another great video, thank you 🥰 A little tip for you, I saw you light a match on the gas jet to light the candle. If you use a long wooden skewer you can light that multiple times to light your candles 😊

Use your breadcrumbs for the salmon burgers instead of flour! So good. We love them that way!
Love this message of making do (and making delicious!) with what we have. This thrifty, frugal mindset can lead to such creativity. Also, I remember loving breakfast for dinner as a child! My mom would make bread pancakes and scrambled eggs and it was the best!!
A warm and cozy video today. You have definitely shifted to running a fall menu. ❤
Look up the food preparation term: VELVETING
This process (adding baking soda to sliced flbeef) softens tougher cuts of beef so they can be used for things like orange beef, fajitas, beef teriyaki, etc.
We are empty nesters and I do the keep on cooking too. I really helps no matter what size the family. I just make less than I did for our big family.
My mother in law refuses to cook in smaller batches even tho they are empty nesters now😅she will cook up a storm and divide it between us and it’s such a blessing some days especially now that I’m almost due with my next. Kiddos eat so much more often than hubby and I and some days it’s exaughsting to keep up with 😊
What a thoughtful gift from your mother-in-law!
Beautiful.

Congratulations on your new book! It’s always a joy to watch your videos each week ❤
Just ordered the book! I've been baking sourdough for a couple years now (learned from this channel), but I'd love to have the book to get new inspiration and refer back to. I'm so glad you put it all together into a physical cookbook.

I love to watch you cook. Is the piano music at the end , your daughter playing,, it is beautiful
No it is just the background music I use for videos...

With cornbread
Boom! I ordered your book the second I heard you mention it! I named 2025 the year of sour dough for me! Woot!
Me too!
Me three! ❤️
I'm so excited for you! It is a really fun journey.
We have 9, the last are twins, and I also have to think ahead and churn food out nonstop!😊
Love that breakfast sandwich! So simple and so delicious! It's just my husband and I at home and I still make sourdough every week and cook from scratch! Thank you for the inspiration!
I am glad we could inspire your breakfast this week!
You certainly don’t waste a thing!!!! Delicious meals!!!
Can you do a day in the life video? How you homeschool, keep your house clean and cook all day long? Would love to see more “behind the scenes” ❤
I'm sure there are day in the life videos you can find here on this channel...I have done something like that in the past.
Love this video, Lisa! Always so inspiring!
Totally agree on cooking - it’s just two of us but we are busy so when I have time I start multi - meals.
Just made my first sourdough bread and it was a big success ! Thank-you !
I’m so glad you gave it a try!
I finally made the jump and ordered from Azure! Picked up my 2nd order last night! Beyond pleased with the products, worth it!!
That is wonderful! I am excited for you.
Oh Lisa ❤ I LOVE your recipe videos! I learn so much from you thank you❤❤❤❤❤❤

I know you get a lot of practice but still, it's amazing to me how skilled you are at cooking!
I love your videos Lisa , can you do some crock pot dinner for the winter .. I wished I was your neighbor 😂
I so agree. For instance,I bought a salted grassfed butter I did not love and some grass-fed meat I do not love as well but this inspires to not waste and just use things because although not always preferable it is still all good food. Thanks for these videos!
I love your channel, it is so relaxing and I feel like you help a lot of people to love homemaking and cooking
I always make chili with ground beef, pork, and venison. Love it! Great video!
I haven't been doing the refrigerator rise, it just works better for me. If you plan a bit, sourdough isn't difficult if you work outside the home.
I really enjoy watching your channel, although I only have one child and I am a vegetarian, I have lots of folk in and out of our home. That’s great to hear! I’m glad you have found some inspiration in my videos and that you are willing to adapt the recipes to your family’s needs.
Now you have me chopping onions and celery and carrots for soup! ❤
This was amazing! One of your best! I'm so hungry. Ty Lisa.
Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing Lisa ❤ inspired

I love some bottom of the barrel/pantry challenge meals. Whatever you want to call it. They always work out to be some of the tastiest meals!
Me too - it's always fun to get creative with what's on hand.
Yum yum yum! Those breakfast sandwiches are a big hit in our house too. I always love a reminder that food doesn’t need to be so complicated or fancy. 😊
So true!

Wahooo! Congratulations on your book! Can’t wait to read it ❤

GREAT video, as always, Lisa. Can’t wait to get your book ❤
Thanks so much! I’m so excited about the book, too!
I just preordered the book. Very excited to get it and start using it. 😊

That is a great tip, thank you for sharing!
Enjoyed watching what you cook. Love from Virginia ♥️
