    Dude you rock! Thank you so much! I got a crankbait stuck in my index finger (side of the tip right at the joint), after trying to free it from my son's lifejacket. I got the crankbait free, but then the belly hook got me. Tried pulling it out but it hurt waay to much and was making me queesy. Called 2 urgent care's but they chickened out on me and said "sorry you'll have to go to the ER". No way this was going to cost me an arm and a leg... found your video and iced down my finger for 45 minutes, then I worked at it and popped it out. I think my hand hurt more from it coming back up to temp than the actual trauma of the hook. Anyway, thanks for the tip... I'll remember it always!

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...it really is easy with this method and as for the barb, I do the same as I do when removing the hook form a fish...just push down a bit and then pull out, to avoid the impact of the barb :)

  • @John-h9j2b
    @John-h9j2b 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It's really easy to do. If you only have one trebblé hook in your hand then cut the other 2 hooks off so you don't end up hooking yourself again and double up at piece of strong fishing line and feed it through the hook and get you buddy to push down on the shank of the hook and tell him to count to 3 and oñ 2 you give it a Quick yank and you will be fishing again in less than 5 minutes. I have hook myself a lot and this is the best method.

    That’s not a realistic way to remove a hook. You can’t just pull the hook out like that because of the barb.

    One of the benefits of using barb less hooks. Another angler came up to me once to ask me to help him remove a hook from his tongue! I pointed him in the direction of the dock store for help.

    • @2-old-Forthischet

      @@billwalker4836 that angler had already cut the line off of the hook but I still didn't want to take a chance that he would freak out and maybe even cause more injury. I know if that happened to me, I'd want a trained professional to help me. Oh, I forgot to say that it was a treble hook too. I haven't used treble hooks in a long time ever since I snagged myself.

    Happened to me this summer taking a spoon out of its box in the harbour. Got frustrated with trying to remove the packaging and ripped on it. Next thing I knew I had a hook in my thumb. Reacted quickly and pulled it straight out. Good thing there was no kids around to hear my choice of language.

    Lol and me yesterday i got a hook on my pinky but it was sooo deep i couldn't get it out alone while i was at the beach i asked a sir and his son to help out the sir came and he told me "maam u got to be strong cause this will hurt badly" I'm like fuck it get it out i don't care, and he got it out by just pulling and pulling and the f hook kept poking me inside dang that fucking hurt but thanks to that sir i was happily unhooked he told me damn u r strong cause this hurts a lot and normally people go to the ER for this, and i told him in this corona days its not worth the trip i rather man up 🤣 and end of the trip. I wish i knew yesterday that there were some easy ways.

    i wouldnt want the barb to gouge a hole in my hand. Ripping it out with the barb does alot more damage than pushing through and cutting the barb off or flattening it

    • @GettinJiggyWithGenghis
      @GettinJiggyWithGenghis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Push down, “freezing” doesn’t just numb your hand it also keeps the hole open and the flesh stiff and harder to cut. Here, peel a boiled egg when it’s fresh vs when it’s cold, you can peel it way easier when it’s cold Bc it’s much harder to dig into the egg.

    Nice video. Ice numbs the tissue, but does't freeze it. If it really froze the tissue, you would be dealing with frostbite.

  • @tunskit
    @tunskit 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    You don't need a tetanus shot after getting a fish hook in your hand (or elsewhere). Tetanus can only survive in soil or feces and comes from livestock, where it's hosted in their stomach. You don't need a tetanus shot for rusty puncture wounds either, since rust doesn't cause tetanus. If the wound bleeds, you're going to be fine, since tetanus can only survive in an anaerobic environment.
