Chronic stress can affect every system in the body. Let's talk about how to lower cortisol and relieve stress.
We've been told that our environment is dangerous, which causes a lot of stress and anxiety. But, while our environment may be dangerous, it's not as dangerous as many are led to believe-and it's not healthy to keep your attention on this negativity.
It's vital to change your viewpoint on your environment and see it in a positive light, as well as filter out some of the negativity you're exposed to.
Chronic stress can potentially lead to various health issues, including:
    • A weak microbiome and more pathogenic bacteria
    • A poor immune system
    • Inflammation
    • Fertility problems
    • High insulin levels
    • High triglycerides and LDL and low HDL
    • Poor detoxification
    • Slow digestion
    • Poor absorption of vitamins and minerals (including vitamin D)
    • Tightened fascia
    • Cognitive problems
    • The activation of bad genes and suppression of good genes
Two of the best ways to deal with stress and cortisol:
    1. Change the viewpoint of your environment and filter out various threats of danger
    • Get space in nature
    • Connect with your environment
    2. Physically flush out accumulated adrenaline and cortisol
    • Exercise
    • Do physical work

Having two or more cats would really help you.
Closing yourself in a room when things are upside down would just make you feel a lot more depressed. It is better to sit outside and see people doing their daily activities.

PTSD-C over here, and it feels nearly impossible to avoid stress and I've not managed to get a handle on my stress response. Even if I hide out at home, crazy stress inducing circumstances seem to always find me. Last weekend, neighbor downstairs locked their dog in a bathroom for days and it literally barked, cried, whined for 24 hours straight. Two days ago, AC went out, and was 83 inside my place for 24 hours. A couple months ago, I came home at 3am to find a strangers dog inside my home, with a closed front gate and closed door, so a stranger opened my door to let this dog into my home (I was of course majorly frightened thinking there may also be a stranger in my home as well to go along with the dog). A few months ago, a crazy neighbor lit her 30 foot high tree on fire just 25 feet from my door, and was yelling like a crazy person for 2 hours outside prior to lighting the tree on fire, and I had to call 911. I don't even live in "bad" neighborhoods, just nothing fancy. But I literally can't avoid weird super stressful things even when I hide out at home. So exhausting, and I have no clue how to avoid constant stress mode. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I'm moving to the Philippines in a couple of months but if I do not like it I'm going out west and Montana is the first place I'm going to try.. you got the right idea for living a long happy and healthy life.. hello from south Louisiana..,🐊🐊🐊🐊🐊when the hurricanes get in the Gulf it is very stressful and not because of the wind but because of the power outage that it's going to cause if it hits where you live.. I plan on being in the Philippines this next hurricane season.. I will be living in a house on the ocean with Crystal clear Blue Waters and white sand beach as my front yard and rainforest mountains as my backyard. I can walk 15 yards to the crystal clear lagoon in my front yard and spear some fish for lunch and my Filipino companion / fiance/future wife will clean them and cook them.. now that is what I call de-stressing. Even though its a manual therapy it impacts and balances the Nervous system so often they notice improvement not only in posture but sleep, improved digestive system, helps regulate hormonal imbalances etc.. They often don't understand how the Bowen Therapy can have such a profound effect on the body. So good to have found you and your videos as it it great to help my patients understand. I will certainly refer your videos to some to my patients. Also if the body doesn't respond is often a gut issue. I think I have been in danger mode my whole life because of the environment and messages I grew up with. This has disabled me in so many ways: feeling alien, not good enough no matter how much I do or how hard I try, overworking myself in work and in relationships, being too nice, giving too much , putting up with abuse... My health has massively suffered because of this and I am sure the perimenopause symptoms I have are also due to this. Even though I exercise and eat a lot of healthy foods, my cortisol levels are off the charts and the slightest 'threat' stresses me out. That defense posture you describe is my posture and no amount of exercise has fixed it. Thank you for this enlightening information. Wow, you are spot on with this video! I am seeing people posting videos of how they feel fed up with the world that they are living in today. Change is easy and imminent if they would start by changing their environment and get moving. Thank you for your videos Dr. Berg .

I shared this on Facebook. I find the workers shortage is making our jobs more intense and stressful and managers want us to keep up or get out.

Agree! Management doesn't pitch just sit in offices while we do the work, more work with less people. I still take breaks to keep my sanity and physical health as well. We need to take care of ourselves, nobody else will!

Great advice, as always. The media is motivated to be a stress monger.

This makes so much sense to me looking back at highly stressful situations in my past. I'm going to work at adding exercise, green tea and shifting my perspective now. Thank you Dr. Berg! I started watching you last week, started OMAD 3 days ago and already lost 6 lbs and even my face looks better already!!

I am working on cutting out stress. The news is depressing, so I watch something wholesome or funny. Staying away from negative people (for me, its family). Its also helped me quite a bit now that I am working from home part time. My heart palpitations are almost gone! Doing something or being nice to someone else who really appreciates your kindness is another boost. You're so right about the fear mongering that goes on. Its so out of control. Love your videos!

For me personally, the main source of stress was thinking that I have to accomplish as much as possible in a day or that things are urgent, they just have to be done. I was constantly speeding through every task. I was constantly thinking of the next thing I have to do. But one day it clicked : that’s not why I live and that’s not what I live for. I live to enjoy my life with the people I love. I started to embrace a slow living lifestyle and I feel totally different. I stoped rushing and I try to do everything with enjoyment and at my own natural pace. So what if something remains undone? Not the most important things like eating and taking care of my children, but so what if the house is not perfectly clean? Me being calm and happy is more important!
I also try to avoid stress coming from other sources. I don’t watch the news. I take care of my mind, to feed it positive and good things.
