I can't thank you enough for this video. My F150 has been making that noise since day 1. We followed your advice and the noise is GONE! I am so happy! 👍
You saved my sanity with this fix. I have a brand new 2021 King Ranch that both doors had this squeak/rattle. I didn't even use the tape, just tightened the bolts and BOOM, quiet as a mouse now! Thanks for posting this.
I’ve been having this same issue, for what I paid for the truck, it should be rattle free at the very least. But I’m glad I found this, gonna give it a shot.
My 2020 F150 XLT passenger side has the noise coming from the same place. I suspect the white tab attached to the lower mirror mounting screw was causing the noise. I applied heat shrink tubing to the screw, then reattach the white tab. So far no more noise. I also applied some dielectric grease to the inside of the plastic cover and all the mounting tabs. That might help to remove the noise.
It’s ridiculous what has to be done to quiet a $50k+ truck. Ford should be embarrassed. Unfortunately a lot of newer vehicles have these issues though.
Man perfect video. Glad I found it. My drivers side was driving me insane the past weeks. I will probably just do both sides. Thanks for the video and fix.
Just found out that 7mm screw that holds the door panel was actually missing for both sides. I think the stereo guys forgot to put back. Called Ford and they don't sell those screws by itself. Went to hardware store to match up. Closest thing was a #6 screw 3/4" with a washer. What I did was take out that same screw from the back of the door panels where that red reflector thing is and used that screw for that upper door panel part and used the replacement screws where that reflector area is. The replacement screw does fit perfect and does secure that area well. I still did add all this modification with the tape anyway.
Works! Thanks , 2022 F150 XLT Even my dealer couldn't figure it out. I thought it was coming from the top area of the window/door, but sure enough the cover was the culprit.
Been having the same issue but only on the passenger side. Applied the felt tape today and so far so good. Rattle is gone! Thx for doing the leg work for us all. Appreciate it!
Also check the 3 Torx screws that secure the door lock, I have a 2019 F150 and both sides were loose. Tightened boths sides and the rattle is gone. This will be the 3 Torx screws around the locking mechanism when you open the door.
You are a damn hero. I have a leased '21 xlt and the rattle is just a huge constant reminder that maybe they cut a shit ton of corners on this truck. Def gonna pop that panel open, although probably against the terms of my lease. Even on a lower trim, 55 thousand dollar car...I'd expect a bit of dampening. It's not like they just started making these things...
Sometimes just tightening the screw fixes it, but I figured while I had it off might as well add the tape to make sure it stays quiet. It’s been trouble free for me ever since.
After upgrading the door speakers in my 2016 mustang, the amount of rattles that came about, and the design decisions they chose to make are mind boggling. For example, the window motor cables touching the vapor barrier which moves in and out with pressure from the bass. This alone caused a nasty rattle which I fixed by stripping the thin layer of foam wrapped around the cables and permanently sticking the cables to the vapor barrier with butyl rubber ribbon sealer (second skin). I also had to use way too much single-sided high density foam tape to nearly every panel. It's much better now and the door speakers are crossed over higher to accommodate a sub amp, which definitely helps. I wrapped most of my amp cables in tesa tape. Wish I'd thought to try it on the door panels.
Man you are awesome. Earned a sub, that noise was driving me crazy since I the day after I picked up the truck. You’d think for 75K they could be bothered to properly tighten some bolts
So my 2022 Lariat has a similar rattle, I'm praying this is it... pretty sad when you order a new truck and it has a mind numbing rattle within 4 months. Wish me luck!
Bro.... just got a 2022 f150 and it rattling with the bass of music. And I only turn it up to like 15 max. I was about to go to gmc dealership and trade it in. I'll try this
at 60k+ this shouldn't be an issue.. but it is.. i've owned 3 f150's, this being the most expensive and worst/last one.. I have the rattle in the A pillars, B pillars, doors, door mirror caps, seat belt adjusters, rear seats when down, and rear window.. thinking trading it in is the only solution. but thanks for the fix for one of them.
both doors on my new 24 raptor rattle like crazy going over small bumps. tried this but unfortunately hasn't changed anything the sound seems to be coming more from the outer edges of the door towards middle pillars. so annoying
No. All of mine were able to be snugged up fairly well. You could try wrapping the screw with some teflon or electrical tape to increase its size slightly and see if that helps.
@@JonathanDavin try wrapping the threads with some teflon tape or electrical tape to thicken it up a little bit. That should allow you to tighten it up enough to stop any rattling. Don't turn it too much though. Just snug it up.

Unfortunately not. I don’t have a rear slider. While they’re nice sometimes I don’t want to have to deal with rattles or potential leaks down the road.
Does your 7mm bolt holding the door on the bottom right get tight? Mine just keeps spinning. The spool behind it appears the be spinning also :( Still rattling.
Sad to see Ford kinda going back downhill. Sure my 2011 rattles but that's a 12 year old truck, I expect it. It's sad how someone spent $50k+ on a new truck and does the exact same thing I do on my 12 year old truck to quiet a door rattle.
OK, I have a 2022 F-150 LARAIT that's as Loaded as they come. I have a Rattle or kinda like a muffled knock and it's on the Driver's side, I have No Idea what "This" DOOR Rattle Sounds Like???? Here??? No one mentioned anything about How, Where, When or What this "Rattle/Noise Sounds Like??? Can some Maybe "Describe" this Irritating NOISE that I also have (Not Sure it's the same Noise as fixed here)??? Dealer Can't Hear it, nor FIX it??? There Since NEW, at 1267 Miles Now. Driving me Completely In Sane!!!
I could have brought it to the dealer, where I probably would have had to leave it, and waste at least a couple of hours, and they may or may not have fixed it. This way took about 10 minutes for both sides, a few dollars for some tape, and I know I did it right.
The way dealers operate today? Nah. Short on techs. Gotta make an appt which is usually 2weeks out minimum. Then they take a whole day for this 10 min job.
Funny, my 2022 Powerboost Lariat doesn't have a single rattle. Most STX models and XLT'S I've heard tons of issues. That's why I don't buy base models. They build them first and the lazy way because they are the cheapest of the trim levels.
I have the 2021 Lariat 502a powerboost and I have this rattle. Drives me nuts. It's currently at the dealer for recalls and mentioned it to them. Lets see if they find it/fix it. They have already called with more of an explanation to duplicate it. smh
Dude I thought I was going insane and super pissed my brand new truck was making that sound. Thank you brother! Video of the year!

Yeah some people have said they didn’t even need the tape, but I figured I might as well since I had it taken apart.
@@randomstuff25 I didn't have any on hand or I would have too. Thanks again.

A small, soft sponge behind that panel applies outward pressure on the trim panel and stops the rattling. Just another way to fix the problem.

I agree. Unfortunately they charge more for them while making them using cheaper and cheaper materials each year.
From the bottom of my heart thank you so much.
Glad I could help!
Omg thank you so much, sound was driving me nuts.
Glad it worked for you!
Did you add a stick on blind spot to your mirror? Where did you get it?
No stick-on. The mirrors come like that.
both doors on my new 24 raptor rattle like crazy going over small bumps. tried this but unfortunately hasn't changed anything the sound seems to be coming more from the outer edges of the door towards middle pillars. so annoying
That’s unfortunate. It’s really disappointing how cheaply they’re making these trucks now and charging more than ever for them.
So the 7mm bolt doesn't really tighten much, it just spins the rubber washer that sits between the door snd plastic panel. Does yours have that ?
No. All of mine were able to be snugged up fairly well. You could try wrapping the screw with some teflon or electrical tape to increase its size slightly and see if that helps.
Did you end figuring out how to tighten the spinning bolt?
@@JonathanDavin nope I've just been living with the rattle unfortunately

any suggestion for the rear sliding window rattle?
Unfortunately not. I don’t have a rear slider. While they’re nice sometimes I don’t want to have to deal with rattles or potential leaks down the road.
Tried clicking on the link for the tape but says it’s no longer available.
I just updated the link. Thanks for letting me know! 👍🏼
Does your 7mm bolt holding the door on the bottom right get tight? Mine just keeps spinning. The spool behind it appears the be spinning also :( Still rattling.
Yes I was able to get it fairly snug. I didn’t torque it too much in case I wound up stripping it. Your dealer might be able to fix it for you.
Hey will this method work for an explorer too?
I’d imagine if the rattles are due to the clips or trim. This tape works miracles. Haha.

Awesome video. $62000 truck, door rattles. Shouldn't have to do this but it's a cheap fix.
The expensive ones have the same bones as the cheap ones. Just some slightly nicer materials slapped on top. 😂
Yeah, as well as the nickel trick for the center console, but it's easy enough fix

Same issue with my 2022 XLT, something isn’t right with driver side insulation, I might go with the rape method
I've got rattling by the window controls on the armrest section. Annoying as hell.

I don't get rattles but my driver's seat squeaks
These trucks seem prone to squeaks and rattles everywhere, especially as they age.
@@randomstuff25 I agree. Now my rear leaf springs are squeaking from a dead stop when I accelerate
