All things considered, I’m saving up for a Cheetah! I’m quite interested, first, in converting my giant cypress DX into a custom ‘peddle assist’ E-Bike.
You’re reviewing this as a bicycle these are meant as motorcycles and not bicycles and you’re complaining about pedal position but some of that’s types of bikes are actually meant to have the drive train replaced with pegs you gotta understand these really are motorcycles that found a loupe hole and aren’t bicycles at all
These look cool. I'd like to ditch the pedals for pegs and have a belt drive with a 35 mph speed. Unfortunately that wouldn't fit legally within current ebike definitions.
Remember, Sondors knew about the 50lb weight increase several months before they disclosed the 115lb overall weight. They lied to thousands of customers and are getting away with it!
I have a Madmods Scrambler on order since Apr. The latest update says it's supposed to ship next week. I also paid the introductory price of $1499. I'm disappointed that it weighs so much after they estimated it at 65 Lbs and didn't give the true weight until they shipped the first batch. Still for $1499 I figure I'm getting a good deal despite all it's short comings. I do not like the cap on the back of the seat of the Cafe at all, it takes up some room from the seat and I just think it looks stupid. I plan on updating the motor to a Bafang G062 1000w hub motor and bigger controller.
I'd love to know how you will do this. Got my Cafe today and want to upgrade it as well. If you make a video, that'd be awesome. If not, can you share whet to at least get the parts ( ali baba?) And the vendor you will go with?
I have been building human powered and e-bikes from bare frames up for many years and let me tell you, this MadMods Scrambler was the worst assembly experience ever!! The shipping box was beat up with numerous tears. The tube that was inserted through the head tube to secure the bike during shipping was loose (because no one noticed the glaring omission of the head tube’s upper bearing/race which was never installed) and just banged around during shipping (chipping paint on the head tube & fork crown), severely kinked front brake line, the front disc brake incorrectly mounted so the outer scalloped edge of the disc hit the brake housing (needed a spacer), charger not working (case broken), derailleur guard bent too far inwards preventing shifts to the smallest 2 cogs, missing top bearing/race of the headset, and no included inventory of what should be in the box, no invoice, and no manual. Does the headlight come on automatically in the dark, who knows? At least mine has the logo right side up & both brake levers are marked Zoom. The packaging was terrible and for the MSRP of $3500 Sondors could afford to do a better job. I bought a full size 250cc Chinese touring scooter for less than $2k and not only did it come fully assembled, they had a steel cage built around the scooter which was then actually bolted to the cage. It was rock solid and arrived in perfect condition. Sondors customer service was excellent though and they expedited the missing/damaged parts & even offered to pay for a local bike shop to put the bike together. After numerous rides I have only 2 minor complaints. Wow, is that seat ever hard! Ouch! My other suggestion would be to have the storage compartment door open on the right side so when the bike is leaning to the left on its kickstand and you open the compartment door everything doesn’t fall out like it does now. About the seat height: I'm just shy of 6’ tall so I added a piece of 2” thick high density foam under my butt. It is still not the ideal pedaling angle but hey, this is NOT a road or mountain bike so I am fine with it. Eventually I will reupholster the seat with thicker foam. I tried a Super 73 once and unless you are shorter than 5’, forget about any pedaling in comfort. The MadMods pedals just fine and you will quickly get used to the width & weight. As for the reach to the handlebar, the Scrambler comes with a higher dirt bike style handlebar which I angled rearward to greatly shorten my reach and allow me to sit further aft. Try to keep in mind that the MadMods is a moped, NOT a bicycle nor is it a motorcycle! All in all, this is a fantastic electric moped. The construction, welds, and paint are perfect and it is beautiful to see. It rides like a dream and I love it! Even though I got mine at a pre-production promotional price, the MadMods is worth every penny of the full MSRP! I say “Go for it!”
I have a hyper scorpion and one thing it lacks is really good motorcycle tires. I like the idea of you building your own e bike, only remember we need good solid tires so we don't get so many flat tires.

Full custom color and such, custom LED panels, domino throttle, custom mid drive motor, and choice between street, all terrain, or knobbies for tires. In the $5k range but $1000 off for Black Friday so if you order before November you can get it for 4k or spend that on upgrades.
