1:00 - I've found the "paper towel" method works to activate my core and to keep my body quiet. What I do is imagine that there are two sheets of paper towel under my feet with the perforation intact. As I draw, I imagine ripping the paper towel apart.

Hi! Can you please elaborate, or make a dedicated video about shoulder alignment? it looks so easy when you do it, but I'm struggling with it for a very long time. any tips about how to get aligned or very detailed explanation will be very appreciated... Thank you!

Awesome! Thank you for the technique videos!
Could you guys possibly make a video on how to properly position your shoulder (the shoulder from the bow arm)? Mine has a tendency to go upwards and not stay stable when I draw the bow. ☹️

This is an excellent video. I'm particularly interested in shoulder alignment and hip alignment. I've been trying to implement KSL where, at the set position before raising the bow, the front shoulder is turned toward the target and then the bow is raised. This feels really awkward to me. I like your method (I think Brady Ellison does it too) where you stay open until after the raise and the beginning of the draw (although Brady seems to start the draw during the raise.) It feels more natural to align the shoulders during the draw after the raise. Also, do you leave your hips open as you change the shoulder alignment during the draw? I find it very difficult and end up swivelling my hips as I draw and aligning them with the shoulders and not the feet, then I have to reset my hips back to an open alignment to match my feet. As I am moving my hips back to where they should be it throws my upper body out again and wastes valuable time. I need a way to make sure my hips don't move with the draw and shoulder alignment. So if you could give any tips on how to keep hip alignment in the open position for the whole shot cycle that would be great. Many thanks for your great videos.

The torso rotation you describe was standard technique here in the US until our current national coach was hired and now it is discouraged. This does not seem necessary to me at all, but then I am not national coach. Your open stance actually retards getting onto good line, so you can trade off draw length against that stance (the open stance shortens your draw) until you find good alignment and good back tension. Good back tension is important but not for the reason most people think. It is important so that you can feel your full draw position. BTW, a closed stance lengthens your draw if you need that tweak, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. (It actually facilitates getting into line.) Keep up the good work!

I thought with straight pull or recurve bows, that draw length isn’t a factor, I thought you just pull as much as you can with those types of bows? I shoot a compound and have a 29 inch draw length. I built my own straight pull/recurve from a small tree in my back yard, both my son and myself can shoot the homemade one. He has a 19 in draw length and obviously can’t pull the homemade bow as far back as I can but don’t this show the fact that anyone can shoot a recurve style bow, just at different lengths? I’m very new in archery so I could be wrong in my assumption.

Target archery uses a clicker. When the tip of the arrow pulls through the clicker, theres an audible click. That's the indicator to release. Release before and theres less force imparted to the arrow, pull too far and theres more force. Consistent force is required for accuracy. You'll notice your son's arrows wont fly as fast as yours. With the sights on the bows, they require the arrow speed to be consistent. All that is set up around each person's draw length (which is a function of their own anatomy and technique).

They could probably add Dutch subtitles but then you would have to learn Dutch!
