Thanks a lot Sjef. I've been struggling to find a consistant anchor for Olympic style, coming from a "trad" high face anchor. That tip about coming in from the side, rather than under, made it much more natural and far easier. Very grateful for you taking the time to share your knowledge, much respect from UK.
"Mabuhay" from the Philippines!!! Hi Sjef, I have been watching most if not all of your competition videos and really love your shooting form. All of your tutorials have been very helpful though I only shoot indoors on a recurve recently to keep in shape during this Pandemic time with my son. May I request that you do a video on the subject of drawlenght vs arrow length on a recurve bow using a clicker? I find the articles on the net a bit contradicting of which is really proper. I can say hearing from a PRO like you would be the best... Thanks and more power to Triple Trouble. Stay Safe and God Bless!!!
This was really helpful. It so happens I was having an issue yesterday with arrows going high and I couldn't figure out why. Now i've got a couple of possible diagnoses I can test and I know how to treat them. I like this format--having us look in on a real coaching session. It makes it really easy to understand what you're talking about, and the advice is very practical.
I wish I could be a sioux Sjef for a day and learn a few things. This just happens to be exactly what I'm struggling with right now. When I anchor comfortably, my finger is not on my jaw. If I smash my finger against my jaw, my eye is way to the right of the string and thus I can't aim properly any longer. What's the best way to find your particular anchor point? What part of the finger should be against the jaw and should the string always contact nose, lip, chin?
Thanks a lot, Sjef. Actually, a quick question about the head position, when drawing and try to reach the anchor, do i need to lift my head a lil up so that it is easier to attach my hand under the jaw?
Great stuff Sjef! SVDB method FTW. In all seriousness I notice both Jaap and yourself use the Fairweather finger tab. Do use the plate with the shelf or without? Does this influence the anchor in your opinion?
I use the one with plate (Sjef) because it just fits nicely, but I can shoot without as well since there is enough surface area of the hand touching my jaw too
i get like a neckpain on the side were i have my draw hand (left) should i not pull up my elbow as much ? it das feel that i put tension somehow in my neck shouldnt that be ?
My question is to sjef, when I anchor at the jaw,as side anchor it's feels like perfect. but when I shoot with that anchor something hits hardly on my lips and chin! What can I do for that? Please reply.. 😊
Hi How are you doing Kindly I am using recurve bow 68" 26lbs am suffering from loss power after full extension when anchoring, the tip of the arrow keeps crippling, what can I do
At the Papendal dutch olympic village no one is allowed to train with a coach. My archery club is entirely closed; might want to give another good example here on this channel and at least stick to that 1.5m distance ;)

Hey Sjef! Just wanted to ask your opinion of the draw length and the bow length. World archery page of yours says you have 31.5" arrows - same length as mine. When using 25" riser with long limbs, at the moment I got 12 pounds more on the clicker then what limb labels say. Am I overdrawing the bow? What do you think of 72" bows for people with long arms like us?

Thank you Sjef. You show me the problem I have with my elbow. I always drop it down about 5 cm in anchor position. Now I know how to solve it. :)
Love you guys! Great vid. So many things to try when I get out of quarantine😕
Cheers,
Chris
Where can we hire our personal sjef?
I envy Jaap so much :D

Looks like he stil is thinking straight draw then adjusting after swinging the hand in to anchor . .
