Very Cool Video! It is beautiful to have Triple Trouble Back ! Even tough I respect your Retirement from beeing a profenssional Archer (and i think i can somewhat understand your reasons) , i'm still sad i can't watch you shoot any more Sjef! Please keep it coming, one of the best TT videos so far imho. (I've watched them all) Love you Sjef, you're a great Person (Also, tell Gjis -who is probably busy shooting- and Jaap -who is probably busy building bows- that we miss them)
Obviously you are a professional, but I still think it’s so cool that you guys keep proving that you don’t need top tier equipment for high scores, and also that people back in those days were able to shoot so well even with less opportunity for support than now. Keep it up! Love the video as always
Loved this! Always great to see you shooting Sjef! My first (and only) bow is from around this period - 2001 in my case - and I have the Beiter Centralizers without the end weights. So it was really cool to see you take a now-vintage bow out for a spin and do it proud. Speaking as a long-away archer who is only now coming back to archery after nearly 20 years away, it's been a great pleasure watching your channel and your videos with all the guys. I've found the videos most helpful, informative, and immensely enjoyable and this is one of my favourites. I appreciate your humbleness and respect of the 90s era archers too. There's some real legends of the sport from that time. I wonder if you'd consider releasing the full long-form (i.e. not sped up) version of your 596 shoot. With or without commentary (almost ASMR-like), just so we can watch your shooting form etc. Many thanks again. Can't wait for the next video!
I also love these vintage bows! And I would be very happy if I could shoot a 587, independent from the equipment and state of training... Your second best video, since the 200€ vs 2000€ bow challenge. It would be very interesting to see the cheap/expensive comparison done from a "normal skilled" archer.
This is a very good concept. I am going to bet that it is about the spread of information and increase in knowledge that has made archery and archers better in the modern day. I don't think it is the equipment that is giving the higher scores. It's not just archery knowledge, it's diet, exercise, sports medicine, sports psychology, all of these things had large leaps in advancement due to the information age.
Great video, I like it. To often I hear people breaking records but technology has moved on, breaking records using the same equipment is something to brag about.
Heck i love this format! I still shoot my older risers. I switch between a Samick Masters or a Max-Pro, however i use new limbs because i wouldnt trust older ones.
If you can find the bits it would be interesting to see how you got on with 80's bendy stabilizers and aluminium arrows on a fita, even if you have to fudge the bits that aren't readily available
Great job, Sjef! Can you review old risers like Axis, Aerotec please? It's also interesting to watch reviews of old limbs, especially WW QX1 (some say that they are mythically forgiving) Thank you
This video makes me want to shoot my good old Yamaha Eolla again. Damn I loved that bow. Now its only lying around in its case and I don't trust the limbs anymore 😅
When I was competing (70's a d early 80's) even professionals had to have another job. The greater support and earnings possibilities now have really helped.
I love seeing vintage freestyle recurves! Though I have to confess, for someone my age it does sort of hurt to admit they're vintage now. In regards to sights, the Shibuya Dual Click was released in 1999 and it's technically been around before that under a different name. If you're looking for a more European style sight, IIRC the Carbofast recurve sight is also from the late 90s. The sight pin isn't much larger than what you have on that AGF, but the red colour is pretty visable.
@@josh28874 Yep, that's the one. They upgraded the extender to be more adjustable, but everything else is really similar/the same. I don't see the old version too often though, so it may be difficult to find in Europe. Most folks I've seen with vintage bows have an AGF, the Carbofast or maybe an Arten. Oh, now that I think about it, the Arten Olympic sight (introduced in 1993) wouldn't look bad on a bow that age either. Unfortunately it does have a dark pin that's not all that visable, but its looks and Arten's history make it an interesting choice for a vintage Olympic recurve.
I'm not sure that modern equipment is any more accurate than older equipment for indoor shooting. I think a good archer from today could take my 1976 equipment and shoot a good score. The human still has to operate the bow so it has to fit them and they have to have confidence in it. If a good archer thinks the old equipment would work then they can shoot a good score with it. There is an advantage outdoors- modern equipment is faster and the arrows would have less drop at longer distances and probably would resist the wind better. I was not a professional shooter and didn't shoot as much as a lot of people do these days. We would shoot about 5 hours a week. In college my best score in competition for the indoor face at 18M was 570.
With 5 hours of training a week that’s a very respectable score! I agree on the longer distance part, the main purpose of the video is to pay my respects to the generations before mine and to show that the amount of fun you can have with an older bow is unlimited:)
How about getting back to shooting properly Sjef? In spite of what the manufacturers say, almost all of the best archers are the best, because of what THEY put into the sport! There are some individual things that are a big help, for instance, I found that a low wrist and reshaping my own handgrip felt much better! But mostly it's the work you are able to put in! If you can't, for whatever reason, shoot any more, at least go into coaching?
Absolutely love how you've shared the process of your return. Really inspires us (or at least me). Hope to see you again soon you beast!
I used to have the Yamaha version of that sight! Beautiful sight, best I ever had!

Great video. Also great to see you shooting again.
How about shooting Darrel Pace's record FITA from the 1970s?
I always enjoy your videos!😊😊😊😊😊😊
In the 1980s we had either dacron strings or Kevlar!
But Kevlar only lasted 1000 shots, so we had to make our own!
Yep, my Archery coach shot
Kevlar each weekend. At some [random] stage on the Sunday, his bowstring would snap suddenly.
It is GREAT to see you using
authentic 1990s vintage stuff !

Fair play Sjef. Very impressive lad. Well done.
I love it how you after stopped training are still better than 99% of all shooters and with old equipment !!
Nice to see you again champ 💯
Well done... Absolutely love the way you did this... Thanks for sharing this with us... It's really inspiring ❤️❤️
Great to see you enjoying the challenge. Congrats.
I had that rig back in the day bit my sight was the Angel. Your bow sounds super nice!

Love the Samick Masters. If I ever come across one for a reasonable price I might consider getting it!
So great to see you enjoying archery again! Will Gijs be back as part of the Triple Trouble gang?
Hai!! mau dong kak bagi satu busur recurve nya?
Good afternoon. Please make a detailed video about the premises and equipment of your sports club. It is very interesting.
What he calls "Vintage Archery" is probably what I paid good money for and am shooting right now.
Damn kids with their new fangled gear.
Especially for you, we have made a video with an even older Hoyt as well two years ago 😊
@@TripleTroubleArchery That's just peachy. Thanks.
wow! amazing! for a great archer, an old bow or new bow its a record breaker bow!!!

Cool!
Thank you for the video .
What was the distance that he was shooting from ?
Still excellent shooting, even without regular training!
Where did you get the bow holders? I appreciate it in advance. Mike

Thank you
Or the Samick limbs like the Masters and Extreme from the era
The Aerotec and Xceed shoot virtually the same. Actually, the Aerotec feels nicer!
i am your fans and
Triple Trouble Archery's fans .
come on gogogo
you are best shooter
This video makes me want to shoot my good old Yamaha Eolla again. Damn I loved that bow. Now its only lying around in its case and I don't trust the limbs anymore 😅
I have an Eolla but can’t find the right blocks for it, the liggt ones feel terrible!
Sjef:"I haven't practices in 6 months, and my bow is not tuned." Shoots a 296 anyway. That's some class
Do you recommend that kind of sights? Im planning to buy one, but i can not find reviews, you should one.
Well done Sjef. Why not try barebow?
When I was competing (70's a d early 80's) even professionals had to have another job. The greater support and earnings possibilities now have really helped.
Exactly the point I tried to make! :) thanks for watching!
In which Sjef shows we waste our money on new kit every year...
😂😂😂😂😂😂👍👍😇
Did you make the paper tuner in the back or is it something you bought?
Would be interesting if you could compete with this bow and see how it goes :)
"it's not the gear which makes the difference, it's the archer".
Wooden bow approves.

The Carbon RX-10 might just be the coolest sight ever made. If I ever come across one I will do all I can to get it 🤤

The camera angle when you’re shooting is super deceiving as it looks like 10 meters when in reality it’s longer.
please Russian subtitles 👍👍👍👍

COFFEE!...healthy heart...ugly teeth. You just can't win.
Wait a minute. You get back after 6 months, throw together an old Avalon+ without proper setup and score a 587 and a 595?
Go away. ;)
Is the maximum score 600? Is that how that works, 60 arrows and you cumulate points?
Sorry for the dumb question, I’m new in archery.
@@texdoms yes, a World Archery indoor round is 20 ends of 3 arrows. 10 max on the target -> 600 max
@@Markus__B And the distance is from 18 m correct? Thank you very much for confirming, I will use this as a benchmark when I go shooting
@@texdoms 18m yes. If you are shooting following WA regulations, have a look at the rulebook. You´ll find all distances, target sizes, etc.
Well .. the missing component is that this was not done in competition. But very impressive none the less!
You said uh 20 times in first minute
Correct, challenge of not being a native speaker and generally being quite awkward in front of a camera. I try, though!
