Tesla Model 3 (2024): Reviewing the new “recall” update and how it affects autopilot.

  • Recently, with the holiday update Tesla included some updates due to the mandated “recall” (which was obviously just an OTP update).
    The holiday update included a lot of cool features, especially the Tesla Vision Park Assist (see the official release notes here: www.notateslaapp.com/software...) but also implemented more stringent and sensitive rules to general autopilot (and enhanced autopilot).
    One of the most concerning was the introduction of the 5-strike system, which FSD has had for a while now.
    In this video, I demonstrate just how sensitive the autopilot attention detection has become, and what you can do to avoid potential bans.

    So the only way to access any function like a/c, etc.. is using the screen, yet you are not allowed to use it. Well done Tesla.
    This update is evevn more dangrous. I dont think I will use autopilot anymore

    Thanks for the video. I'm not liking this new update.
    So in this video, how many strikes did you get? Did you get one eat time it disengaged?
    How many audible alerts before it disengages? Previously it was on the 3rd one, but I've gotten like 4 or 5 with this new one without it disengaging or giving me a strike.

    • @europeinatesla

      Thanks for watching!
      I didn't get any strikes because I kept disengaging (either unintentionally, or intentionally) before I let 3 "please pay attention to the road" warnings come up.
      The previous two strikes I received (before this video) was from having two of those and then on the 3rd time, it just showed the red steering wheel that it's disabling.. I'm not 100% sure what the rules are.
      Have you gotten any strikes yet?

    • @drdvids
      @drdvids 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@europeinatesla no strikes yet. I think getting 5 audible warnings is the limit before they strike you. I also believe if you pull over and put it into park, then restart your drive, it will reset.

    Does it auto lane change after selecting the indicator direction on base autopilot or do you need "enhanced" or fsd or something for it to do that

    • @europeinatesla
      @europeinatesla  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi - to change lanes, you need either Enhanced Autopilot or FSD. In the EU, you need to initiate the change by selecting the indicator, and then nudging the wheel... However, in the US, it will just start indicating and changing lanes by itself without any intervention.

      The first time was that I wasn't aware how sensitive it was - so I let it warn me twice then it just disengaged, the second time, I tried to use it on the highway and kept looking at the screen and it suddenly disengaged too and struck me out.
      I have noticed that it's become less stringent now - I'm not sure if it's due to the minor updates they've released or if it's just learning from behaviour. Has this been your experience too?

    Love your channel!
    I own a Model 3 2024 and my wife drives a Toyota Corolla since 2022. I am afraid to say this but Toyota's autopilot is way better than Tesla's. It is actually flawless and serves its purpose. As long as your hands are in the wheel, it keeps the car within the lane, adapts the speed to the road conditions (other cars, tight curves), and does not disengage if you look elsewhere nor due to weather conditions (sun and/or fog). I love Tesla but autopilot is really annoying.

    • @europeinatesla

    At 04:50, you KNEW there was a car coming in the blind spot and you still used the indicator. Do you know how dangerous that is for the overtaking car? NEVER and I mean *****NEVER***** indicate before the car currently overtaking has FINISHED overtaking you.
    You are creating dangerous situations in which the overtaking car thinks that you're actually pulling out to the left and thus you cause them to hit the BRAKES in case you actually pull to the left, in turn causing a crash for a possible car closely following THAT car.
    NEVER indicate until it's actually FREE to do so!!!!!!!!!! This is basic driving school knowledge...
    First look in mirror, second look with your head, thirdly indicate. Not before.
    This also gives you the correct danger-reducing habits.

      It actually worked great until the government made Tesla and Elon do this. They didn't want to. The goal is not perfection. The goal should be to reduce driver fatigue and make the driver population safer overall. Distracted or fatigued drivers using autopilot > Distracted or fatigued drivers without autopilot and it isnt even close. Its just going to make people not use it and be distracted anyway. Ridiculous. Witchhunt against Tesla.
