@@MTTC Thanks for reaching back, and also for this fantastic tutorial! No worries -- I suspect I have this issue because the signals going through the microphones and interface are too low. I am going to try tweaking things around in the studio today!
Any way to extract MIDI information from a mixed drum track? This would be most useful when working with loops which already have all drum parts mixed into a single file.
Hi. Great video, thanx. I have the same situation. I tried to convert a multi mix drum track mp3 via flex pitch to a midi file. But the individual tracks for bass drum and snare in the piano roll were completely messed up and some beats didn't trigger at all. It works with a single monophonic track, but it doesn't work with a complete mix track as source material. Do you have any new insights into how to achieve this? Do you have experience with Chris Slate trigger and whether it works for that problem?@@MTTC
Hi. This was very helpful. How can I separate a single audio drum track that consists of all the different parts into separate stems like above before converting to midi? Thanks
Thanks for the feedback. Glad it was helpful. At the moment I am not aware of any plugins or apps that can automatically separate drums from a stereo file into separate stems. The MIDI method is the cleanest option I know. Cheers 😀 Duce.
Nice. But would it be able to convert really intricate and fast fills with a lot of rudiments and ghost notes? Or would the velocity for something that detailed become in accurate
You are absolutely correct. This process is useful but don’t expect a flawless reproduction as some of the nuances of drumming can be ignored by the conversation. I do however believe that as more and more AI technology is integrated into Logic and other DAWs these limitations will be overcome.
Great vid but what do you do when it picks up another part of the drum and creates a midi note. For example it exports the kick and the snare. How do you avoid that?
Very good question. What you have described often occurs and is pretty much unavoidable. The simple solution is to go through each new midi region and delete the offending notes. It really doesn’t take a long time to clean things up 😀
@@MTTC Thank you brother. I figured that was unavoidable and I did just that by deleting the snare. It did take me a little while but I know we can't expect everything be a breeze lol
Excellent, thank you for sharing.
You are very welcome Erik. Thank you for your positive feedback 🙏🏾
super helpful!
Thanks for the positive feedback 👍🏾
❤ thanks bud
You are welcome Dennis. Thank you for the feedback 👍🏾
is it possible to get the HHs and crashes?
Unfortunately the hats and crashes don’t generally have sufficient signal strength to be converted using this method. Sorry 😞
At 1:55, when I go to "Track", the option for "Replace orDouble Drum Track" is grayed out. Do you know why this is, and do you have any suggestions?
I’m sorry my friend. I went and checked but couldn’t figure out why that is greyed out for you. No clue at all. So sorry 😞

It's because you don't have the region's Flex Mode turned on. Turn the flex mode on and then try it again.
Thanks, Jet! I tried that, but still no luck!@@jetgrey3131
I’m experiencing the same problem but it might have to do with my tracks not being snapped to the grid :(

Oh 100% I’m looking forward to being able to decode a drum loop audio region into separate MIDI tracks for each drum sound 👍🏾

@@MTTC Thank you. I am trying to figure out how to breakout a stereo file into stems - best practices. 😊
@@naba2404 the quickest way of doing this is by using Audacity. Check out this link which will help you.
