I really hope you see this. You’ve taught me so much. I just asked google how to do this and you literally popped up as the first answer. Thanks for everything. Trying to teach myself the piano or one song specifically and need it as a midi. Hopefully it works
Hey buddy i have been looking at your videos for a while now and i just want to let you know that your Logic tutorials have taken me from someone who didn't have a clue to a fairly a Logic user. Amazing stuff, so much info and it's easy to understand. You are great!! And your voice isn't hard to listen to either.. some people might have info but you can't stand the way they talk.lol You are articulate and speak well. i will subscribe. first time ever i've done that! Thanks Josh from the Okanagan Valley in BC!!!
Hahahah I came to the comments section to say the same exact thing. Every bit of it. Well said. Very articulate. I couldn't agree more. MusicTech.. Thanks for all the tips and detailed info! I simply googled "how to convert audio track to midi" - your video was the first available. I clicked it, heard your familiar voice, smiled and immediately came to type an overdue thank you. But Darren beat me to every bit of it.
Thank you for exposing me to this tool called Melodyne, your tutorials are great. One thing I noticed is when you switched over to Melodyne on the second part of this video, it was not mentioned to disable Flex time for faciliatating this step. I ran into some hiccups until I figured it out. As a newby Logic user, I struggle when even micro steps are left out 🙂
Flexpitch.. interesting. I've been trying to just play and/or paint the notes "from ear", but Flexpitch might be a faster way to go.. so long as it's not a chord track. Thx for sharing this tip!
I enjoyed this so much! thank you for the knowledge. I have been looking for the logic way of doing this. I knew that logic had this effect. But I couldn't find it.
Thank you for the info. It’s very useful. My question is, is it possible to get the MIDI of the sample with the ORIGINAL sounds from the sample. I want to manipulate the sample by moving notes around from the original sounds. In other words I don’t want to use an additional sound for the MIDI. I would like to use the original sounds from the sample. How would I go about doing that?
Hi MusicTechHelpGuy, I'm running Logic 10.6 in Big Sur MacOS on iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017). I'm looking at purchasing Melodyne with full capability. Could you tell me if there is a current version of Melodyne that will be compatible with my system and what that version is? Many thanks for you brilliantly helpful channel. Kevin
I have a Yamaha PSR-S950, which has various midi styles. A midi style consists of 6 midi instruments, which I’m sure logic can record on one midi track. Cubase 8 has a menu selection under the EDIT drop list which can DISSOLVE the one midi style track into 6 midi instrument tracks. This really speeds up production. My question is, does Logic Pro X have the same feature capability? Plz advise asap because I’m on the fence if I should purchase Logic Pro X or Cubase 12. Thanks….
Assuming you have purchased and installed melodyne, you click on an audio FX insert slot, go down to “Audio Units”, move over to “celemony” then click the melodyne plugin.
@@MusicTechHelpGuy Ahh - I don’t think you mentioned you had to purchase Melodyne plug-in. You just mentioned to use it so I assumed it was one of the Logic tools. I will search for the plug-in and install it. Thank you 🙏.
I don't understand why logic grey's out the convert to midi unless it's on pitch mode. What if I have a drum track with just a snare and I want to extract the midi time information? Can't do it apparently?
Hey @musictechhelpguy, "create midi track from flex pitch data" is grayed out on my mac, how do i turn that function on? also, is there a way to get Waves Ovox to convert real audio to midi in logic to control a virtual instrument (in real time)?
Is there a way to convert automation on a plugin --> to Midi CC automation to send to and external FX unit? Or do I have to re-draw the automation by hand, can't copy paste or convert the current automation nodes? Cheers
I'm using trial version and can't find Melodyne in the plug ins...is that something I can only access in full program or is there a way to load it into the demo version?
That DAW is so counter workflow Every other DAW I have it's right click on region or event or whatever then transform midi to audio or vice versa and then oh I need to edit click transform back It feels like non musical software designers had a big hand in that thing
@@davidpurple3698 yup, just looking even the versions of Tracktion 6 and 7 that I needed for a job in 2015/16, actually I think Waveform pioneered the concept, and that is completely free, not that I ever use slip considering you know metronome 😏 Of course the exception is the most expensive and useless DAW Pro Fools I truly loathe that I have to use it, I once put a heel through my laptop screen, and I had to drive home and get a pair 🙄 but it was a Mac so no great loss 😉 Oh and I don't know if FL has it? Legend! Super easy and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks bro
Always a joy to watch and learn !!!
This rocks, thank you so much!!
Great video! Thank you. You cleared up the difference between polyphonic sustain and polyphonic decay in Melodyne.👍🙏
Good stuff. Thanks. I have used the Logic method, but never thought about using Melodyne. Great tip.
Expensive.

Great Tip Bro. Def gonna be using this Melodyne method
Yo Josh! I like these quick tip refreshers. Long ago, i remember you doing a vocoder video. That might be a good one to revisit.
subbing because you are the only one that helped
Thanks so much!! And thanks to Celemony as well 🙏
Very useful but what if I also want to keep the original tone/sound?
Question;
Before you actually create the monophonic to a midi what if you move the pitch correction to 100% will it be more accurate when converting?

Great video as usual. I've followed the steps in Melodyne, and there's no option to save as midi. Tearing my hear out.
Please can you tell me in steps where and how you found and selected Melodyne in Logic. Thank you.

question,
Melodyne 5 essential work for starters..?
Thanks great vid, didn't know about that!

Does this work in any edition of melodyne?
Polyphonic note detection only works in melodyne editor and studio.

can you use melodyne to extract vocal notes from an mp3?
Oh my. Never thought about using the glue tool. I was erasing and adjusting manually. Damn lol.
that was my biggest takeaway here too lol

Save as MIDI option not showing on melodyne plug in on my daw what do i do

Does it work with a click track?

You can do chords in Ableton live.
