The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Brenda is still a legend. My grandfather is/was the drummer of The Casuals and I will tell you she hasn't lost a drop of her fiery spirit.

I love Karen Carpenter, but her version of Jambalaya, in my opinion, is unbelievably dreary compared to Brenda Lee's.

Took my Cub Scout pack to a long term care facility for seniors, to have the boys sing Christmas songs to them. The seniors just sat there as we sang traditional carols, unsmiling, sad. Then the boys began singing "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree" and that place came ALIVE! Laughter and hand clapping and swaying to the music as they sang along. I won't forget that moment of joy for the rest of my life.
That little bird really brought the talent and brought the show! Total command of the stage and her voice.

Another million seller for Brenda! Very few of Sullivan's 2021 releases have reached that level. I see only five 2021 videos over 1M views 1) Nancy's "Boots" 2) CCR's "Down on the Corner" 3) Chubby's "Twist" medley 4) The Band's "Cripple Creek" 5) Jambalaya. Curiously, Brenda's Jambalaya never charted in the United States or the UK.

Brenda Lee influenced Elvis and Buddy Holly, not the other way around. As a matter of fact Elvis asked Brenda how she managed her phrasing of Rocklin around the Christmas tree.
Maybe a little Louis Prima thrown in.

Assisti a Brenda Lee,eu um pré adolescente,em setembro de 1959 pela tv Record SP,era a sua primeira temporada no Brasil, ela tinha 14 anos e a outra temporada foi em outubro de 1961.Ela tinha uma vitalidade enorme e sempre cantava com uma grande energia e sempre deixava os seus fans alucinados,principalmente quando cantava Jambalaya,Dynamite,Sweet Nothin's e outras.Lembro-me que eu ia tinha um LP da então gravadora Decca com os sucessos dela.Lembro ainda,que ela chegou a conhecer a Elis Regina,então bem jovem,em um programa da Rádio Gaúcha, quando a Brenda foi fazer também apresentações em Porto Alegre.Há fotos desse encontro.Obrigado pela atenção.
