Joe Maphis, his mentor, introduced Larry to that guitar. Here’s a video link to Larry playing the top neck with Joe: th-cam.com/video/8OYoZcJFip8/w-d-xo.html
Larry Collins had the second double-necked electric guitar in the world. Joe Maphis, his mentor, had the first one. Can you imagine how heavy that guitar must have been for a kid to carry the weight of around his neck and do all that dancing, while playing it. It's not easy.
I used to see these kids on a small market TV station from Yorkton,Saskatchewan in the early 1960, though the shows were obviously from the 1950's. I believe it might have been hosted by Tex Ritter. I liked 'em then, and even more now I've had a chance to see them as an adult. Great talent.

Larry's still with us; Lorrie passed away in 2018. As for the guitar, that was a gift from his mentor, Joe Maphis, who had a similar double-neck. The only thing that really went awry was Lorrie marrying at the age of 17...to Johnny Cash's manager who was in his mid 30s. However, Larry went through adolescence without more than the usual drama and went to college to study law. Even though he was successful at his law studies, he returned to music and became a songwriter and record producer.
