Good Golly Miss Dolly is 79! [1/19/2024] Salute and good health to one of our greatest songwriters. Also born on Jan 19 were Shelly Fabares and Janis Joplin. Some other recent birthdays: Elvis (Jan 9), Brenda(Dec 11) and Connie Francis (Dec 12) .
Brenda Lee was so young when she sang I'm Sorry. People were shocked to hear such a powerful voice from this petite teenager. No doubt she's one of the best.
So glad I got to see Brenda when she came to Salem, Oregon around the 1960's when I was around 15. We are close in age. She autographed my record and I still have it. ❤
@@MostlyBrenda With Dolly...its mostly the way she is packaged that creates the magic, as well as her charming, innocent banter. She is highly skilled in her way.
These songs remind me of a time when my family would accumulate in my aunts basement as she did hairdressing for her regulars and everyone was happy, together, and family.
My mom passed 3 years ago and was a big fan of Dolly and Brenda Lee. My mom got to meet Brenda Lee. She was named Sharon Lee. So Brenda signed ‘ from one Lee to another. So sweet.
I was 15 yrs old, when I fell in love with Brenda Lee. I listened to all of it. In fact it molded my entire life. My sister and I bought and own a Karaoke bar. And every song is my life.
I didn’t even know I was a Country and Western fan until I saw this. Kept their clothes on, paid attention to their audience. Not one hateful or foul word, and what incredible voices. Plus a good time was had by all. Excellent formula. Talent today should be embarrassed.
I try not to categorize the great ones. Brenda sang Rock, Pop and country. Glen played guitar on all kinds of records in the sixties from Sinatra to the Beach Boys. In fact, he _was_ a Beach Boy for one tour when Brian Wilson didn't want to tour. So, I really won't limit them to one genre, although I will admit that Dolly is mainly country.
I stood about 4 feet away from Brenda Lee at the Minnesota State Fair in 1962. She was standing in an outdoor open air booth sponsored by a local radio station. Her height doesn't matter to me. It's her voice and the way she uses it that matters to me.
I met Brenda Lee at a dance it was such a joy to have gotten a hug from her. Her music brings back great memories for my husband who is now deceased, but we danced to her singing as teens what a wonderful time!
Brenda had an amazing relationship with her fans. She devoted much time after concerts to autographing and taking pictures, writing letters, fan club events etc. Her club president told me that she was invited to Brenda's Hall of Fame induction.
Well, so so many thanks to everything Dolly does. She is an angel on Earth and well beyond. 💕 And to Little Miss Dynamite, you have contributed so much to music in our lifetime, just thank you so much.
@@MostlyBrendaMore like the 60's... Hi Brenda. My sister and I loved your music. She also would draw pictures of the stars and I recall she drew one of you...quite good in fact... and had it on our bedroom wall. The good ol days. ❤
I sure that's the year she meant. Brenda's first top ten hit was 1960, but, at 5 yrs old, in 1950, she was already singing in church, at her father's baseball games and at the local candy store(!). @@ShirasongMusic
All three are great. Glen Cambell was one 0f them that got me hooked on country western and Reba McIntire. Loved Brenda lee back in the 50s. People called me little dynamite cause I was am short like Miss Brenda. And Dolly, what a woman that can sing her but off too
All that beautiful voice comes out of tiny ones. I’m so thankful colonel Tom Parker couldn’t get his hands on her. He put her in one movie. She said she didn’t like doing a movie. Thank goodness Owen Bradley had her firmly in his grip. Kept her from Colonel Tom.
@@gracieg7601 Brenda was in a movie called "The Two Bears" in 1961. I think it was supposed to be a 3 picture deal, but Brenda thought it was bad and I guess she and her manager got out of the contract. Saw an interview in the 80's in which she said that she still had not watched the movie! Anyway, while she was friends with Elvis, her manager from 1957-1972 was Dub Albritten and Parker was never in the picture.
Deepest Joy! As a teenager In England young Brenda helped me through all my heartaches and tears, thank you Brenda! Seems like a fairly tail now , actually being able to sit, relax, and watch a wholesome television show.
Brenda Lee left me speechless all the time no matter what she was singing. A once in a lifetime talent that will be really missed for a long, long time. Incredible voice.
Happy Birthday Dolly! 76 years old today, January 19. People seldom realize that Brenda is only 13 months older than her friend. I recall that Brenda got pretty vocal in the Ken Burns documentary in praising Dolly's talents.
