No the 2014 (not even the first year 2013) is NOT Ford influenced.
It has the first fully in-house designed drivetrain and suspension/steering geometry, the SkyActiv brand of engineering.
Ford had no partnership with any aspect of the CX-5. In fact, the CX-5 is the launch model of Mazda's independence from Ford.
Mazda now partners with Toyota for all leasing, loans and extended warranty. Their technical partnership is limited to ad hoc engineering and production consulting.
I have the same thing but the stormy blue Micah color. Great motor, efficient on gas, decent pickup for what it is. AWD system is actually very good, handles the snowstorms in the northeast. 6spd transmission shifts smooth as butter, sits at 75-80 mph comfortably at 2600 rpms. Great car. 130k no issues so far, shooting for 250k

@@hennybeauty6643 In December of 2022 I traded it in with 165K on it. It ran great but being in upstate ny with the winters and salt it really started to rust up underneath, random parts needed to be replaced. But most importantly it wasn’t the engine or transmission, they ran flawlessly. If I was down south I’d still have. I bought a 2022 Corolla SE, it’s a great car, but sometimes I do miss the space and awd of the Mazda. The CX-5 is wonderful, the first gen is the best in my opinion. Got me through college, couple internships, some big snow storms, and my first year commuting to my job (120 miles round trip.) Just make sure it’s been taken care of, and if I’m correct the newer ones have an optional turbo motor, I’d steer clear of it. If it has the 2.5 I4 motor you’ll be just fine! Best of luck to you!

@@sonnerlynntv2947 traded it in at 166k cause it was starting to rust out underneath cause I live in the northeast with the winters and the salt. But she was running great! No issues mechanically. As long as the car has been well maintained and not modded you should be just fine
The CX-5 is my favorite compact SUV! This six year old CX-5 looks to be in very good shape!

How many miles does yours have? I'm thinking of buying one but afraid due to high mileage.

Nice job, Zach! Sadly, you can only get a manual transmission in a FWD version of Sport (base or base trim). With this CUV being the sportiest to drive among competition, it’s a loss that one couldn’t have it loaded and with Manual trans. The 2017 and on do not come with manual transmission period. 😢
I have the refreshed model, the 2016 grand touring, and it was starting to get a little more nicer than the previous ones
Really interesting to hear how in the US the '18 is around the same pricepoint as the '14. In my country we're talking more then double the price difference between those two.

Ours has 188k miles 2014 model...been a very reliable car on par with any Toyota.
Old on looks better. Had a first gen Mazda 3 hatch and loved that car for its versatility and handling...but would like more ground clearance and awd. Seems like they made this utilitarian hatch for someone like me.

Just bought one. 6'3 and 300 lbs. Fit great. Even with a sunroof

1kg is around 2lb, if i recall correctly
for mpg, idk though
all i know is that 40us mpg is somewhere like 7 or 8L/100km

Two cup holders in the 14 to present I think even the 13 but not sure

Two in the front by the shifter, one in each door, two in the back middle seat. I drive a 16

Say what you want about the original CX5 but just remember this replaced the tribute

You need to fix the shifter switch its a $50 part pretty easy to swap out.
A newer car feels nicer

It is very popular with very good ownership satisfaction ratings.
Every head to head comparison with Rav4 and CRV puts the cx-5 ahead, in all respects except space.
This is no turd the crv and rav4 are worse then this is
CRV and Rogue are turds 💩
