Top advice mate! 15 year old me used to slap the best parts in the original game because "car go faster" now that I'm an old man with years of wisdom i requested anything bigger than a mid range turbo is just overkill. Reducing weight to max will just make some cars physically fly off the track and roll over. This is a great video to help younger racers, beginners, and even people not familiar with how to tune. Great vid mate!
Lol "because car go faster" So true. The tuning shop leads you to believe that just buying everything will produce the next Adrian Newey designed car...thanks a lot Medic 👍
@@MLDOGGno worries mate! Always welcome 🤗. I remember being 15 or 16 and spending the night at my mates house on the weekend and we would grind the same race over and over in GT1 so we can buy the viper. But now that we are older and more mature we realize the errors of our younger ways. Like how racing softs make complete sense as kids but why do we need to pit every three laps lol. So many great memories from GTs in the past and your video was a great reminder of how far we come from our younger selves to better understand how just because something can add power doesn't mean it will actually help us. Some of my best builds are only between 300 and 600hp.
I think using your favorite event or track as the test bench is the best you can do now, first try the car right out of box see if power should be bumped up or tune the suspension and diffs first. It's a bit annoying you have to repeat the grind or time trial to get the car up to your target.
I tune like Jeremy Clarkson. POWER!!!. Maximum available power for the class. Then tune to handle the power. If it is too much I'll back it up a bit. My favorite benefit of changing engine internals is that you get higher rev range. By far I can't complain and it works for me.
I do enjoy the way you explained this! It would have been super helpful a few months ago when me and my son first started playing. But we're American and I enjoy the little bit of fight I have with my almost 1000hp ZL1 Camaro to keep it on the track! LoL. But seriously I did find this extremely helpful!
@hopewilliams6705 I can certainly relate to the fun you can have, wrestling a fully maxed out muscle car 😍 but seriously, so glad you found it useful and hello from the UK by the way 👋
I usually go all out with aero on my builds since I do a lot of racing on GT7 lol. I tend to max everything out as much as humanly possible in performance and drive like there's no tomorrow.
That Civic takes me back to Gran Turismo '95 so many memories ,playing on my new Playstation! Racing Modification upgrade needs to return to GT then any car can turn into a race car!
I find a lot of cars just need some tire and suspension upgrades as well as some brakes and pads. The sports tires are fantastic now too. Then I may add a transmission and clutch if the gears on the original are too wonky. I also like to add the racing computer and a muffler and air filter upgrade, not necessarily the top of the line one. The engine balancing upgrade is cool too since it allows you to rev the engine much higher. I rarely upgrade things like the turbo or add nitrous.
actually, if your car is faster than 200+ mph and you use racing slotted or drilled it takes a little bit longer to slow down, the feel of the triggers is different I've always used carbon ceramic and I'm confident in them some people can't tell the difference but I can.
Some cars do have different levels of aero upgrades, from what I've seen the main difference comes in the rear ground effects, some cars have two options that both make improvements, I believe in the cases I swapped them back and forth on the first option made a smaller increase and only to the rear down force number, the second one did more to both. The wings, sometimes they have a type A or type B wing, which will have less down force than the custom wing option from what I've seen. However I don't think I've seen any difference in the front diffuser choices. I think there should be another option, at least on some cars, that brings the range up to around the levels of group 3, maybe even exceeding it case by case. I will note that the best aero upgrade is by far the rear flat floors/diffuser, as ive seen it improve my top speed while giving me some down force to work with.
Yep, to be fair i did forget about the fact you can add wings and diffusers etc. I still think it would be nice to have something in the tuning shop. Like aero pacakges 1-3 or something. Having said that i still really like physically adding different wings or front spliters for example, so its a funny one.
@@MLDOGG there's all kinds of additional upgrades, or upgrades certain cars don't have but could be given that I'd appreciate. In particular, I miss the ~1200hp group C and LMP cars, most group C cars have the mid range turbo upgrade, filling out the turbo upgrades for group 1 cars would give an additional power boost to any that get the mid range turbo as of now, and I'd even prefer, also adding the ultra high rpm kit as well, still giving those mid range turbo cars a bigger possible increase, but also giving something more to those that already had the high rpm kit. And simply filling out all the turbo upgrades allows them to give each car its own character by having a different range of power possible. Rather than every one maxing out right around 986hp, which to me is a bit boring knowing they're all the same, aside from a few hybrid drives technically making them more powerful for specific speeds. But there is so much they COULD do they would create interesting and fun options in the game.
I bought a civic and pretty much did everything tire ,brake and suspension wise like my car in real life even down to spring rate and honestly it makes the game more fun
Well thought out video that ive always wondered why no one touches on this. I just want to add too, that i look at the general weights for wtc 700/800 cars for my own. I have no desire to have a car at 1000kg when most wtc800 might be 1300-1400kg.
Hello, never been to a track day in my life, but I noticed you seem to slam cars into corners, creating oscillations. Stiffen up your springs or turn into corners more slowly and earlier.
@MLDOGG, if the car is too powerful and too lightweight power restrictions and ECU tuning and weight ballast does help tremendously and carbon ceramic brakes are only good if you're going over 200+mph and I'm very meticulous with how my cars drive and they're suited for my driving style and preferences, this is a good video but it should be taken with a grain of salt due to everyone's different driving style and preferences, most people don't know how to tune cars or drive them completely stock which is okay i guess but I'm a tuner geek and i try to help on reddit but i feel like everyone wants the same setup for everyone but it's not proper the car has to be setup for your driving style and your comfort and confidence level, i started out with all the assists on now I only have Level 1 TC and weak ABS and I'm a pretty good driver but i don't like online play bcuz it's my preference.
Yeah this is why i'm a bit reluctant to make setup videos because its so personal. I would like to make videos maybe showing the affects different changes make but theres plenty of that out there already. Thanks for your feedback Falken 👍
Been asking others but you would be best. Someone needs do daily car tuning sheet w before n after 1 lap. Then create lists by manufacturer so as it builds members can search by manufacturer instead of road. Gr1. Formula etc. You would triple member with this

Carbon ceramic is just cosmetic it has the same braking properties and pp as racing brakes
Do we know if brake fade is a thing in gt7. They would help with that.
