Speaking from just driving in real life cars do that obviously. The rear steps out a little uphill but mostly the front lightens. Downhill the rear really can step out because of the inertia.
Cars in gt have always been way to glued to the ground (vertically I mean, not grip. It's way too hard to flip cars which is super unrealistic. Hell, some past GT games literally made it impossible to flip cars)

These new physics are far less snappy and much more smooth, and WAY more predictable.

Yeah physics/handling is a huge improvement in this update. Especially off-road. If you’ve actually driven off-road in real life, or played the better rally games out there, GT7 off-road was so detached from reality before this update. Now it’s all just more realistic.
Tbh I think the offroad is much harder now. I tried to do circuit experience on a snow track and dirt and both were so much tougher than ever before Before I would get gold on the first try. Now I'm having a hard time getting silver
I love that even on controller I have to actually pedal the car around more. The steering feels more predictable as well. It's not fun for people that just want to ride on a rail around a track to set a new PB but, for racing this is better. The "driver" is more in control and that's a good thing.
If I get your meaning I agree. It's harder to set personal bests and drive and do hotlapping because it's more unforgiving when it comes to ultimate speed, but also more realistic which also kind of makes it easier to just drive I've been hotlapping a lot lately so I've been struggling but in a good way. Its reminding me of hotlapping in AC which is also pretty unforgiving at the edge
I’ve been driving the Porsches lately and really noticed a change with the MR vehicles, not necessarily a negative but I agree that the driving may feel more “unforgiving” at times, specially under braking, cornering & elevation changes. The racing itself has improved
The incident with the BMW at the end of lap 1 was entirely on you. You passed on the inside almost in the pit entrance lane, and you weren't even on the backdoor of the car when attempting to overtake.
Yeah, I get the frustration of going from first to last and wanting to get back up there, but that was overly aggressive, and the response after shoving him off the road should have been just "Sorry".
Are you serious ? There was no contact and passing on the inside line was perfectly valid. His dive bomb didn’t cause an incident. Rather, it was the M6’s fault for not not yielding despite being passed.
I thought so too at first then I watched again. I’m no racing steward but Rory was far along the BMW’s rear axel and was in full control of his car before the corner, the BMW should’ve left a space. I could be wrong though

Totally new to the game I’ve had it a month or so now and it’s amazing loving the new update ! The new physics seem to be good so far as well I noticed off the bat with the game that understeer was an issue no matter what on some vehicles even with tuning and what not. Also just came across the channel for the first time too !
I don’t recall anyone complaining about the handling physics to necessitate a change. Now all cars understeer grotesquely, I had cars the were spot on tuned for 700pp for Le man, now they’re coming up nearly 10 points over. The weather physics on that track are all corrupt now too. I used to be able to throttle manage my cars around tracks when the tires were completely bald, now it’s instant spin. They should have left what was good alone.
I did mention in the live stream that short wheel base cars really love to unload coming off skyline. Gotta be careful not being to quick running down the gears causing compression lockup either. Also dropping a wheel in the chase proves spicey. Overall the new physics seem to be a good improvement.
Thanks for admitting it everybody is saying they love it its so realistic. This track is so hard to do a clean fast lap without hitting the wall. And don't even think about trail braking anymore

I set a time for B last night in the Porsche, as good a race car as it has been its not normally that quick for a quali time as its too stable.. you can get some rotation under braking and acceleration now. Good job coming back from that first crash! In the lower level lobbies you can count on more crashes during the race to gain positions back, but I'm guessing not so much in the A+ lobby. @@radioactivetrees9626that may be your opinion, but unfortunately it neither reflects the situation nor describes Rory's behaviour correctly. Being side by side into a turn means, both have to give each other space and not for one of the two to try to vanish into thin air, because the other wants to turn in. There was no space left on the inside, so the outside car can't turn any further inwards. If it does and there is contact, then that is 100% on the outside car. Sometimes you have to give up a position in order to race cleanly. Especially on lap one of a ten lap race on GT7. There would have been enough time for the BMW driver to reclaim that position, if he's have been fast enough, what he clearly wasn't.
@@moritz1-2 that which you are describing can be can be said about Rory, the one who dive bombed instead of taking him cleanly down into T1. Love this track and i love the new physics. Ive lived in bathurst and driven the mountain many times. The physics is a good improvement, more toward sim than game can only be good, can still be improved especially in the area of road camber
Update for ya’ll. Still a bit new but I’ve had enough time to try the new physics. Seems like the road inputs heavily mask the feeling of the tire. I can no longer feel the tire actually deforming when going into a corner. All I feel is body roll. Once I initiate the turn in, the tire is either gripping solidly or completely understeering. Initiating an oversteer feels almost exactly the same. What do you guys think?
Playing since release the physics feel completely different and are harder to get used to, but I kinda enjoy the extra challenge. Although it acts out sometimes now but it’s all down to the tune. In some cases. Half my cars are un drivable and the other half feel better. Hit or miss. Old car physics are messed up tho
Magnificent effort after the crash. I'm not sure if I completely like the new physics but it's made the game a real challenge again and something to learn by.
I hadn’t notice it till some days ago: at the green events on the top right corner I feel any car I use now losses its grip, the breaking, the turning, etc. so I can’t continue bc it feels like a different car after a little while in the same race. Is this an effect of the new physics?
Do you think this is just a case of getting used to it? Or is there a genuine problem? I found by the end of last week I was able to lean on it a bit more with practice and was within a few tenths of pre-update speed. But I can understand that Panorama is tough.
as soon as temperatures get more reasonable I can't wait to try these new physics. I've always felt the weight transfer physics were a bit off. No I'm not a racing driver but I have felt oversteer from weight transfer from rear to front much more than I feel in GT
I'm struggling for traction since the update, where I wasn't before. Need to put traction control on alot more now especially with slower cars weirdly.
It was too easy before i think , the current physics i like because the car will move around on braking and you cannot just plant the throttle on TC1. Just my opinion but i think it is better how it is now ...less arcade but i will say there is some strange snap over steer sometimes ! Overall good update for me .
@dobbo4596 yea I know what you mean. For me, I've litrally just got my first ever steering wheel and cockpit. So was just getting used to it so little set back for me. Just gonna take time to get used to it. But yea the oversteer thing is strange. Still love the game.
@Backbreaker1104 yea its weird how people are finding it different to eachother. Unless it really is car specific. But I'm really struggling with slow cars. GR3 and 4 is fine.
May I ask, why do you upshift on the first corner to third gear while being on low RPM? Wouldnt it be more effective on the lower gear? (Iam new to sim racing)
In low gear your car has more power or higher rpm and will slide faster. So upshift and have a bit more grip out of the corners because of the lower rpm.
As someone who plays iRacing the new physics are quite fun, but I more than understand the more casual players getting mad as it is quite a learning curve to understand how cars act over non-leveled pavement.
Is it possible with better brake pedal adjustment to solve the prolem of abs and locking? i mean if i brake light not to lock the tyres car don't stop and if i push a bit wheels lock..weird
Watched you heading into the chicane and thought "he's going too quick to take the kerb... he'll lose it" and you did. And then I braced for the impact from the following cars...and you ghosted. We mere mortals racing at Mount Panorama (in ACC) would be limping back to the pits for a 2 minute repair session. Along with all the other people we murdered by blocking the track. 😂😂😂
The things thats annoyed me is we got used to the game for years i even plat trophy the game but then now have to drive completly different and been told to deal with it but all muscle memory has gone out the window and have to brake different cant turn and brake now
Noob player here.. I actually found the new physics feel more natural on my wheel, except at the extremes of handling (when understeering and oversteering). I use a Logitech g923. My theory is they might’ve worked really closely with Logitech on this handling update and inadvertently ruined handling on all other wheels. If anyone else is using the same wheel and have noticed the same, sound off please
I have the G923. At first I thought I was now getting less feel out of the whee with the update l. Turned my settings up to 10/6. Now after a week+ I don't even remember what the wheel used to feel like. What I think I like about the feeling after the update is that I get more of the subtleties. Like coming over the top of the hill I can feel the steering get lighter. And similarly, when coming full speed into a steep uphill, I can feel the steering get heavier. Things like that.
@@krishnavutla8452 that’s exactly how I feel. I actually notice the shapes of bumps rather than just feeling a jolt in the wheel. I also turned up my settings.
@@Michael-GT389 he’s referring to the force feedback max torque and sensitivity. You can also adjust it even further using the Logitech hub. I actually have my return spring turned up to 75%, I like stiff steering.

On your first wreck it looked like you downshifted to 3rd a bit early, which broke the rear wheels loose around that hairy corner where you're trying to slow. Would you disagree?
As someone who just got the PS5 and GT7 I don't know how the physics were before so kinda like them, not that it helps me though. Being 5 seconds slower than the best drivers told me I probably won't be playing sport mode anytime soon.
so i've been trying to figure this out and maybe the community here can help me... if i play gt7 and make progress online, can i use that progress offline in sim races offline without the wifi connected?... like mortal kombat 11 for instance. I can utilize all progress unlocked even offline, but just can't access new data from the servers. is this the same in Gran Turismo. Can i customize with the items i have unlocked offline after i secure them?
The physics feel like assetto corsa competizione, but without the joypad keys lock ( you drive there way or not at all ~ you can’t change the buttons for acceleration or breaking)
Is it just me or the graphics secretly look even better now. And also feel like replay mode had some improvement with fov for sense of speed and that they also included more different angles and static cams
Rory. You should start playing gran turismo 6 online. I think youd really love the small but respectful community we have. Would be great to see you post some content too!
I hated the physics for a day, readjusted suspension and I'm loving them. If I want to build and drive an oversteery beast I can with almost no issue. Lol
I was finding it feels more accurate and predictable. The turning invisible crap when a crash happens is super lame. Also I should add that it's much easier to brake and clip apexes since the car is going to do what you tell it rather than a vague balling up slide. The window of recovery has shortened but that much closer to real life. Very noticeable with rear heavy cars.
Am I missing something? I'm definitely not a great driver, and I play on controller, but I adjusted within 2 races pretty well to the new model. Haven't tried every car and course but a Z8 on Panorama was pretty fun and I only had a few spots where I truly had to change the way I attacked a turn or braking spot
Rory .. can you please try the 'plebs version' Bathurst GT3 race ... I got no hope now in hard setting.. with new BOP.. physics etc. tries just about every GT3 car the RC F seems best with 1.49 update ?
I thought I was getting the hang of it, until I wasn’t. Car spat me out on straight braking, watched the replay incase I made a genuine mistake, but no. Hopefully those little glitches can be fixed and it will be all the better
From what I’ve heard from others, definitely seems like many aspects have gone up in realism, or at least an attempt. One thing is the magic of GT was that it was an ‘accessible sim’ (simcade). Granted it was one of the most realistic when first made, but is now outclassed hence simcade. But seeing how they’re really trying to keep up with sim, they’re also going to potentially lose a lot of casual players, who may not even touch online much. I remember GT psp had 2 physics options, simple and advance. At least for offline, they should bring this back, and maybe for online, for player made lobbies. Have the older GT7 or Sport physics and have the more realistic one as well (obviously for e sports and more series sim players).
The car becomes lighter over hills, it's almost like they were trying to mimic what a real car would do.
Speaking from just driving in real life cars do that obviously. The rear steps out a little uphill but mostly the front lightens. Downhill the rear really can step out because of the inertia.

Do you think this is just a case of getting used to it? Or is there a genuine problem? I found by the end of last week I was able to lean on it a bit more with practice and was within a few tenths of pre-update speed. But I can understand that Panorama is tough.
I absolutely love the realistic feeling of the new physics .
I'm an AC regular and haven't tried GT7 after this update. Really interesting seeing how everyone is reacting.
as soon as temperatures get more reasonable I can't wait to try these new physics. I've always felt the weight transfer physics were a bit off. No I'm not a racing driver but I have felt oversteer from weight transfer from rear to front much more than I feel in GT
I just don’t like how much more understeer you get out of some of the low speed corners
For me its the oposite
@Backbreaker1104 yea its weird how people are finding it different to eachother. Unless it really is car specific. But I'm really struggling with slow cars. GR3 and 4 is fine.
What a finish after all that mess at the beginning. Great drive!
3:19 That was beautifully executed.
Some of the cars just refuse to turn. The amount of understeer is unreal
Pleased it's not just me then. Trying to get my head around using manual gears and the new physics last night was very humbling
May I ask, why do you upshift on the first corner to third gear while being on low RPM? Wouldnt it be more effective on the lower gear?
(Iam new to sim racing)
Limit wheel spin, keep the car in its power band.
In this game it's just as fast shifting early, it also gives you better traction and turn radius.
In low gear your car has more power or higher rpm and will slide faster. So upshift and have a bit more grip out of the corners because of the lower rpm.
@@Svg2407 thank you! Gonna try to implement this technique in my next race
@@matus_wuki jump in one of the streams from Rory and watch it’s fun in chat and you can learn a lot from watching to 😁
As someone who plays iRacing the new physics are quite fun, but I more than understand the more casual players getting mad as it is quite a learning curve to understand how cars act over non-leveled pavement.
Newbie here that loves car games, just haven't invested yet. Is there a setting to make things a bit easier?
@@krishnavutla8452 What do you mean by 10/6? Might be useful for me, too.
I am using a Logitech g29 and I am heavily struggling since the update.
@@Michael-GT389 Before you start a race or Qualifying, go to settings, controller settings. I have my Force Feedback Max Torque set at 10, and Force Feedback sensitivity set to 7 (I moved it up from 6)
Nice recovery drive!
Rory taking out people without actually taking out people 😂
Mount paranorma used to be hard because at the speedway part there’s a turn and then my car goes in the sand but now I can pass that part
Now how am i supposed to beat my time attack timings if i have to keep slowing down so my car doesn't spin around ?
On your first wreck it looked like you downshifted to 3rd a bit early, which broke the rear wheels loose around that hairy corner where you're trying to slow. Would you disagree?
1.20. Jessszzz he took that corner perfect. 1.30 BAM!!! 3.00 the real action starts for us. !!!
The new physics remind me of Forza Motorsport, it’s like I’m on ice, constantly drifting but controlling it most of the time 😂
As someone who just got the PS5 and GT7 I don't know how the physics were before so kinda like them, not that it helps me though. Being 5 seconds slower than the best drivers told me I probably won't be playing sport mode anytime soon.
what steering wheel do you have?
oh nevermind just had to read.....hahahaha
Can't wait to join you all and compete at Bathurst my favorite track in the world
The thumbnail tells me that Rory didn't get enough of the Olympics opening ceremony😅
so i've been trying to figure this out and maybe the community here can help me...
if i play gt7 and make progress online, can i use that progress offline in sim races offline without the wifi connected?... like mortal kombat 11 for instance. I can utilize all progress unlocked even offline, but just can't access new data from the servers. is this the same in Gran Turismo. Can i customize with the items i have unlocked offline after i secure them?
Well even the wheel feel is jacked up. I added to clicks to the feedback just to get the feel back in the wheel
The physics feel like assetto corsa competizione, but without the joypad keys lock ( you drive there way or not at all ~ you can’t change the buttons for acceleration or breaking)
Car: (understeers a little more, gets light over hills and kerbs)
Every single GT7 Player: UNPLAYABLE, IMPOSSIBLE
The physics feel weird. I don’t know what about them that’s weird but they definitely feel weird..
Lol
As I’m just coming in to this, I’ll be glad I didn’t know what it was like previously.
I hate the new PHISICS
I actually don’t mind them, I just need more time to adjust than I thought 🤣
Sounds like a you problem
I was watching Super GT's stream yesterday, and he literally rage quit!
That's not how you... Nevermind I like em
I share this sentiment, it's ruined.. I'm deleting the game.
That livery is haunting, I love it
Rory whats tour sr and dr?
I'm getting a lot more steering feedback since the update, but I'm also new to driving with a wheel.
I like the new physics 😂
It’s funny because the previous comment hating it 🤷🏻♂️
It’s suits my driving style.
It’s less “gamey/arcadey”
I love it. The new physics aide my driving style. It IS more realistic.
I love the new physics, feels more real due to weight shifting, feels very real
I was finding it feels more accurate and predictable. The turning invisible crap when a crash happens is super lame.
Also I should add that it's much easier to brake and clip apexes since the car is going to do what you tell it rather than a
vague balling up slide. The window of recovery has shortened but that much closer to real life. Very noticeable with rear
heavy cars.
Im loving the new physics. I love watching everyone else suffer as they fail to adjust
Rory turning into the King of Bathurst! 🔥
From this video it looks like those wall taps were operator error- everyone else made it past that turn just fine on the first lap
I thought I was getting the hang of it, until I wasn’t. Car spat me out on straight braking, watched the replay incase I made a genuine mistake, but no. Hopefully those little glitches can be fixed and it will be all the better
I'm on controller. I've had a hard time adapting to how lose the rear gets under heavy braking, especially going into a corner
Dude the supea is like mega quick but nice clean race
I love how the cars feel now
