Hey it's me again! I see you found another one of my maps, "Places from your Dreams" I really enjoyed your video and thought it was really interesting how you gave your thoughts on all of the liminal space maps. It was also really interesting how you would rate the comfort of some of the rooms, as I had that idea in mind when creating the map, having cozy rooms where people who got lost would live, especially that room up the stairs with that bed couch. Fantastic video!

The thing with the sauna is you sit there, sweat and sweat and sweat until you can't take it anymore, then you go to the next room and pour a bucket of ice water over yourself. Or if it's winter and you're on your own property, you can go outside and jump into snow. And then you go back to the sauna just to warm up or to sweat some more. 2:51 - 3:26 This sounds *exactly* like a rant straight out of Freemans mind. He would absolutely be paranoid of bird people... Edit: I take it back, this entire video is filled with Freeman's mind energy
Ok interesting bit about the backrooms. The concept of the large subspace of infinite levels is actually the original backrooms, or what the original backrooms turned into. Way back when the backrooms was just that one picture people started to theorize and craft what other levels would be like. Pulling from phobias to surrealism to liminality, and so on. All of it combined into what is functionally an SCP style collective writing community. This lasted for years, and basically became the thing people only ever saw the backrooms as. The singular level of unfinished office space kind of took a back seat to everything else as the wiki grew and grew into a glutted realm of surrealism. However, once Kane Pixel made his backrooms video the mentality of the backrooms basically crashed back into said singular level. Now we’re slowly getting back to that wiki as people try to innovate, recreate, introspect, etc. on the Kane Pixel style of backrooms. It’s really interesting seeing the gears turn with the community as new things take center stage. Also crazy thing in the everdawn map. There is a room that I 100% remember being in. It was that lodge with the outlook onto the mountains. Now obviously this is a memory warped by time and replaying it over in my head, but that lodge with that layout of shelves, benches, and tables are exactly how that memory feels, and that look out is just as if you pulled the murky image of what was once there right from my mind. It’s honestly insane that this was able to perfectly encapsulate what my memory of that moment felt like.
This makes Sense as elder gods don’t have gainful employment and as such might need a place to stay (and your a hospitable guy) but also have very small heads only necessitating a singular pillow for all of them to share (they sleep in a large circular bed with the pillow being at the center most point)
Hearing the save room theme from RE: Dead Aim works so well to set a mood for these kinds of maps. I'm surprised anyone else even KNOWS about the game! Thank you for your continued videos about these maps! They're super intriguing and have inspired me to dust off GMod after over 5 years.
I used to take Melatonin every single night for sleep. Bizarrely, it never seemed to affect my dreams, so I was surprised to hear how common that phenomenon was.
you know something you haven't thought about yet for survivability (at least I think imp only halfway through the video) is that eventually all the lightbulbs are gonna go out leaving you in pitch black for most of the map. you could remove the bulbs from those lamps in the outside portion of the restaurant and save them for later but that's only like 5 lamps which isn't a lot. being in pitch black for most of your life could lead to you going insane but at least you have that source engine infinite battery flashlight. also the corn farming room and weird wizard tower could be used as a good light source.
The feeling you described in the beginning of the video, a mix of sadness, nostalgia and satisfaction, we have a word for that in Russian. Тоска (toska). You can pronounce it as toss+cup, without the p, ofc. I think this word perfectly encapsulates that peculiar mix of emotions.
I don't know if Minecraft is something you're interested in but I think if you tour surreal maps might be interesting. Modern maps can be really cool and do interesting things with commands. I especially think old beta Minecraft's lighting engine has a very strange liminal feel so looking at old maps might be neat too. You know, I wonder why my brain is so drawn to this kinda video, the ones where others explore dream/liminal maps. I think it may be, at least in part due to my own inability to dream, so I can't just... Architecture and spatial design often go unrecognized and I really appreciate the liminal space people for helping us consider mundane areas as important to our collective experiences. 18:20 I wouldn't say the source image is exactly like anywhere I've been, but it has "hey go downstairs (undecorated basement) and hang out with your cousins/parent's friend's children" vibes which I've definitely experienced.
Your combination of quick artistic analyses and stream of consciousness observations, along with light humor treads a line of engaging and relaxing content that I don't see very often, if ever. You show just enough to get a taste of these maps that distinguishes them each as unique artistic experiences, but not so much that I feel 100% satisfied with only having seen the video without exploring these maps myself. Keep doing what you're doing because I love it.

Lovely as always. The thought put into each map while exploring it and the sincerity of considering them in-depth like any other piece of artwork is refreshing in an age of so much irony and cynicism towards the arts, and the commentary just gets better with every episode. The main problem with relying on corn is that, by itself, its actually mineral deficient. You have to 'nixtamalize' corn to make it healthily edible, which requires cooking it in an alkaline substance. Traditionally this has been either wood ash, lime water or even crushed seashells. If you're really careful you might be able to use the corn stalks as a wood ash subtitute, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

There's only over a thousands pages of user maps on the Steamworkshop... and Moddb, and GameFront and Gamebanana and I came across a bunch of other indexed archives of maps. So, really it's about 10 Gmod maps in total collectively. LOL 21:58 I was wondering what you do for protein, but you did mention hearing crickets and in some parts of the world people do eat bugs, so you might be fine for protein theoretically. I guess one question is "What is Garry's Mod Most Niche Map Type?" Just a heads up I hope other people came across this as well. From what I heard Nintendo is forcing the SteamWorkshop to remove any Nintendo related content, so if you have a Mario themed map there you may want to download it soon.

Your anecdote at the start of the video has inspired me. Not sure what I'm going to do with that inspiration, but I love liminal spaces and I love libraries and I never really realized you could have both in one like that. Maybe if I ever make a videogame about surviving and making a cozy little home for yourself in an endless liminal space, I'll add a library level.
i dont have a dream journal, so im gonna put one from a few nights ago right here. me and my sisters seemed to be a bit younger than we are now, and our mother had just dropped us off at some guys mansion, and we were sitting in a small room by the entrance. at some point, the guy who presumably owns the property tries to steal my moms car (which she left the for some reason?) and i threaten to call the police. i go inside to do just that, but instead try to escape out the back with my sisters. outside is a massive patio with deckchairs galore, a whole cookout setup and a pool, and behind that is the F***ING EVERGLADES. we try to cross it but soon enough some goons come after us. i try to sneak us through but they spot us and send us back to the lobby with their high-velocity projectile weapons. i rewind to just before the escape attempt and instead just leave by myself and this time i make it through the swamp-jungle to a small nonsensical house on a small paved road through the trees where two other kids are hiding, *just up the hill* from the car thief mansion guy's *exotic* backyard, and one of the kids has his own high-velocity projectile weapon, and i eventually find one too, in the 'several smaller pellets in a larger plastic shell' variety. the next day, im walking my uncles dogs(???) through a suburban neighborhood, which our weird little shack is backed onto. come night again, an agent of the mansion/compound finds us, we throw him to the floor and i begin to use "enhanced interrogation techniques" on the hooded figure, until he stands up and tries to fight, and i use my "recreational tool", which has by now turned into some sort of zipper-book? zipper-bag? something of the sort, which you load your *recreational* twelve-gauge pellets with and fire with buttons, and stops being a living organism. me and the armed youths exit our domicile to find many residents of the afforementioned compund approaching our location with tools of violence. my imaginary self inflicts wounds which cease the life functions of several imaginary enemies, and after exhausting my self-defense weapon, i run off to the side of the battle, towards the right side of the mansion. there i peer through a window to a room i recognized from another dream or another perspective of the dream. i continue to a previously unseen spiral pool to the side of the compound, where i am spotted and i hop across it, the pools occupants trying to grab me from within, i climb a hill to the front yard, dawn breaks, i blend into the mob. they follow me around, looking for myself (?!) i lead them into town, i spot a police car, i stalk it a ways. when i lose the mob i chase it down and get in. i tell the cop what happened and he just starts yapping at me. suddenly im in the backseat, hes still yapping. then hes in the backseat with me, he pulls out a MAP OF THE BALKANS, CENTERED ON BULGARIA (?!?!?!?!?!?!?!) and then the story ends, with presumably the compund raided and my sisters saved. the boys from the cabin long forgotten. sooo uhhh, astro-spiritual girls of tiktok please tell me what this means

I don't know if this was an intentional (Or even subconscious) inspiration, but some of the random hypothetical rants in this REALLY remind me of Freeman's Mind (and I guess just Ross Scott's writing style in general), especially the one early on about the hyperintelligent bird people
You know I just had a thought, you might appreciate the game Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead’s built-in backrooms mod. With some modification to make it have no zombies, it very much is just the original backrooms and having to survive in it. Whilst iirc there’s the slight benefit of randomly generated caches of food and stuff to be found, one could always turn item spawn rates down to make things more a concern.

@@TheMegatonBomb Yeah, I don't plan on featuring Nintendo on the channel on any extensive way. They aren't deserving of our attention. They're out of touch and don't like their own fans.
If the chance ever arises you should explore the "Organism" and "epilog" part 1 and 2 worlds in vrchat. They are beautifully built and intriguing
@@RadioHazzardToxieDrop I think I will :)
@@loganfromearth awwww yeaa!
Using the word 'subspace' in the way you do: how to tell me you're not involved in the kink scene without telling me you're not involved in the kink scene.
Logan always posting these bangers
The game abiotic factor is just like someone saw you explain how to survive on maps and made an game over surviving in like one of those building maps
your voice is rather soothing, it fits the whole vibe of the video topic lol. i really enjoy these videos of yours!
Yes the places from your dreams map! It’s fantastic
I love your videos logan, your vibe is so chill, i could probably listen to your voice for hours
man, i love theses videos. i remember watching your first video in this series when it first came out and it was genuinely one of my favourite videos on this platform. i wanna say thanks for making these videos, they really help me calm down when im getting anxiety.
You gotta be the most underrated youtuber fr
I may be a day late, but thanks Logan for videos that accompany me while coding at 3 am.
These videos are great, always a treat to see one uploaded after a stressful day, which with how fast life comes at you is surprisingly often. Keep up the great work brother❤
Also you can substitute the toilet for a composter any container will do which will help fertilise the soil used to grow the corn
It's always exciting to come home from work and see a new WEWN episode. (Other vids are awesome though too, I love the Futurama vid.) I save these for late nights so it took me two days to finish this one ha. Hope you keep making vids man!
@@Mycotecture Oh, I will, don't you worry about that. Thanks for watching.
Please keep doing these type of videos. I absolutely love the way you explore them and feel at ease listening and watching as you go through these unknown passages. Subscribed!
I really love how you rate the survivabily of each map, that's something I never thought about before you pointed it out. btw is your profile picture a really confused guy with a massive nose or is it a guy with a super smug grin and a soul patch?
@@Sparrow_Bloodhunter big nose
Your anecdote at the start of the video has inspired me. Not sure what I'm going to do with that inspiration, but I love liminal spaces and I love libraries and I never really realized you could have both in one like that. Maybe if I ever make a videogame about surviving and making a cozy little home for yourself in an endless liminal space, I'll add a library level.
this series is immensely comfortable to me, thank you :)
i dont have a dream journal, so im gonna put one from a few nights ago right here. me and my sisters seemed to be a bit younger than we are now, and our mother had just dropped us off at some guys mansion, and we were sitting in a small room by the entrance. at some point, the guy who presumably owns the property tries to steal my moms car (which she left the for some reason?) and i threaten to call the police. i go inside to do just that, but instead try to escape out the back with my sisters. outside is a massive patio with deckchairs galore, a whole cookout setup and a pool, and behind that is the F***ING EVERGLADES. we try to cross it but soon enough some goons come after us. i try to sneak us through but they spot us and send us back to the lobby with their high-velocity projectile weapons. i rewind to just before the escape attempt and instead just leave by myself and this time i make it through the swamp-jungle to a small nonsensical house on a small paved road through the trees where two other kids are hiding, *just up the hill* from the car thief mansion guy's *exotic* backyard, and one of the kids has his own high-velocity projectile weapon, and i eventually find one too, in the 'several smaller pellets in a larger plastic shell' variety. the next day, im walking my uncles dogs(???) through a suburban neighborhood, which our weird little shack is backed onto. come night again, an agent of the mansion/compound finds us, we throw him to the floor and i begin to use "enhanced interrogation techniques" on the hooded figure, until he stands up and tries to fight, and i use my "recreational tool", which has by now turned into some sort of zipper-book? zipper-bag? something of the sort, which you load your *recreational* twelve-gauge pellets with and fire with buttons, and stops being a living organism. me and the armed youths exit our domicile to find many residents of the afforementioned compund approaching our location with tools of violence. my imaginary self inflicts wounds which cease the life functions of several imaginary enemies, and after exhausting my self-defense weapon, i run off to the side of the battle, towards the right side of the mansion. there i peer through a window to a room i recognized from another dream or another perspective of the dream. i continue to a previously unseen spiral pool to the side of the compound, where i am spotted and i hop across it, the pools occupants trying to grab me from within, i climb a hill to the front yard, dawn breaks, i blend into the mob. they follow me around, looking for myself (?!) i lead them into town, i spot a police car, i stalk it a ways. when i lose the mob i chase it down and get in. i tell the cop what happened and he just starts yapping at me. suddenly im in the backseat, hes still yapping. then hes in the backseat with me, he pulls out a MAP OF THE BALKANS, CENTERED ON BULGARIA (?!?!?!?!?!?!?!) and then the story ends, with presumably the compund raided and my sisters saved. the boys from the cabin long forgotten.
sooo uhhh, astro-spiritual girls of tiktok please tell me what this means
That was a wild read.
@@loganfromearth i know. it was a wild experience.
5:45 This bit reminds me of Ross from Freeman's Mind
Honestly fun and relaxing watching your content. Keep up the good work. :D
i love this series, just take something you like, in my case coffee and chocolate, and enjoy this
I'm not the only one who thinks he speaks like Freeman's mind right?
this makes me incredibly happy thank you
I absolutely ADORE this series!! I know I keep repeating myself but I love hearing your thoughts about this places, how unique these thoughts are and I love the sound of your voice. Overall, this channel was such a great find!!
It's good to have you around. Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Imagine living in these liminal spaces.
W videos man, recently bought gmod around a week ago just because i saw the linimal spaces and the goofy nextbot stuff and ive been loving your videos bro. have been going into maps like this and doing the same thing as you and setting up places to live and stuff. would love to see more of these type of vids!
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it.
Just wanted to thank you for dimming that bright title card at the end as I am watching this at night
As a night owl myself I have to look out for the homies.
I enjoyed this video a lot! Well done.
Thank you for the posture check, I always forget while I'm watching stuff, it was really helpful
I don't know if this was an intentional (Or even subconscious) inspiration, but some of the random hypothetical rants in this REALLY remind me of Freeman's Mind (and I guess just Ross Scott's writing style in general), especially the one early on about the hyperintelligent bird people
My mind just goes a lot of places. I did watch a lot of Freemans Mind growing up, though, so it definitely influenced the way I read scripts.
always in need of more liminal space content, huge W
Yet again just what I needed. I will literally watch all of these. Thank you again Logan from Earth!
No thank YOU
You know I just had a thought, you might appreciate the game Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead’s built-in backrooms mod. With some modification to make it have no zombies, it very much is just the original backrooms and having to survive in it. Whilst iirc there’s the slight benefit of randomly generated caches of food and stuff to be found, one could always turn item spawn rates down to make things more a concern.
Weird, never knew CDDA had anything like that. I've always been more of a Zomboid guy myself, but maybe I'll check it out.
@@loganfromearth It’s a newish(eead; been in for like a year) thing. As a neat change of pace from the base game it’s interesting, but definitely not something to play outside of a few gimmick playthroughs.
how does this video only has 580 views ??? This video is brilliant
Probably bc I uploaded it an hour ago. Let me cook.
