I use to play on this server named EQF which was a non-darkRP like RP server, no grind, no functional way to kill another player, just solid RP. They used a few different maps, but for most of my time there it used EVO city (And another named Rockford v2), and honest to fuck... I think evo city is effectively a second home to me. I had well over 2500 hours in that server.

@@loganfromearth considering whiterun is right in the center of the map and becomes the defacto player base of operations with the cheapest house and the most friendly and lively cast of characters, no wonder you did.
Tbh, Skyrim had quite a lot of luminal-i-ness to me. I didn’t play it much, there’s a lot of places I only went maybe like… 5 times in my entire life, like everything involving west Skyrim… I’ve been enough to remember certain things, but not enough to remember entirely, like a non-solid distant memory

That livability thought is one of my main obsessions with liminal spaces. I hunt for liminal spaces in vr and one of my main things is looking for the main necessities for survival food, water, and and anything that could be used as a bathroom. the potential to survive and thrive in a space made by something that sees human structure but doesn't place said structures in a human manner is a utterly satisfying thought for me.

I really love that "aesthetically right, functionally wrong" take on the feeling hl2 asset spaces evoke - for me, I always imagined spaces like these are what an alien intelligence would produce trying to be accommodating to an otherwise trapped 21st century person, factually understanding what human structure looks like but failing to capture the more, like, esoteric, friendly, and well, human aspects of stuff made by humans. Something meant to offer a feeling of security that just misses the mark because what made it can't quite understand what it feels like, so it just feels uncanny. Sometimes peaceful, sometimes entrapping, but always uncanny.

I'm really glad that the algorithm just slapped me with your channel. As many others have said, the laid back vibes from the editing and narration are definitely something that resonates with me. Not only that, but the whole idea of exploring Garry's Mod maps in general is something that was almost kind of therapeutic for me, and it's pretty damn cool to listen to your thought experiments about the survivability of certain maps, I'm sure it's something that I'll be noticing a lot more on my own journeys around the gmod workshop lol. The little cinematic footages are also great.
If you are willing to make another video or even start a whole series, I'm all for it, and I'd like to suggest a really tiny map that I've explored a few days ago called "zs_lens", really reminds me of the last map shown in the video.

My favorite Gmod RP story was on this DarkRP server that had zombies on the map (not zombie rp). I was a money printer, and the cops heard about my operation, and so I shot the one cop they sent to my apartment and grabbed my money printer and got the hell out of dodge. I ran through the wasteland and found another abandoned town, and thanks to the printer, was able to fence it in and turn it into a safe place. Some bandits, other money printers, and other criminals flocked to this city and after a while we had so much money we armed like 6 people with M9K miniguns, and marched back to the main city where we raided the police precinct.

But every once in a while I like to boot it back up and just explore old maps while listening to music. Its an interesting experience, it feels like a whole different game if you just treat it like a walking sim lol

I think that liminal gallery could be a fun game, or series of maps. Maybe they could have real art from real people, and the point would be to navigate and explore this liminal dream like space to find all pieces of art. Once you do that, you win.

I remember so vividly building a GIGANTIC meth and cocaine lab inside that evil lab thing, it was really fun becoming one of the biggest producers of drugs and then i remember very vividly getting yelled at by a mod for blocking a entrance with a toilet...
    Then I got perma banned.

Phenomenal video. Your commentary is both insightful and entertaining and gives a lot of interesting perspective on the maps as well as inviting further thought on them. As always, it's refreshing to see such a casual yet thoughtful exploration of Garry's Mod content, and to have such a long duration is an absolute treat. This was a pleasure to watch.

surprised no one has mentioned it yet but the boxes you're staring at 26:52 labeled as AID seem to be humanitarian care packages, which usually means non perishable foods and mre's maybe even canned water, and there's plenty to go around, meaning your chances of surviving there are actually quite good and you don't have to eat only watermelons for the rest of your life

    HE UPLOADS! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Glad to see more from you, man. I like your content. :)
Also EvoCity is still somewhat active, although to a lesser extent compared to a few years back. Last time I played a DarkRP server it was on EvoCity, and me and my buddies started a melon syndicate.

In one dark RP server: A *dude* with a small PM of an anime character tried getting my attention, and I made the mistake of letting my guard down and giving them my attention. Apparently the guy had an accomplice (also with the same anime girl PM) who snuck up behind me and knocked me out while I was distracted. By time I regained consciousness, I find out that I’ve apparently been dumped into the sewers…
Long story short: I got knocked out and abducted by anime girls, and I got dumped into the sewers before regaining consciousness.
    Only in Garry’s Mod

Yea man since I was a kid I would play the city rp maps that are half life themed and it gave me all of these feelings I would be on there single player just having a feeling of missing out since how old the maps were, it’s something about that old gmod vibe gives me a cozy 2000 feeling, also I would love finding the secret lab , underground bunker facility’s I would hide in them from creepy nextbots

There was an old RP server I played on Evocity called HERP and later PERP . Cops would enforce traffic laws and I remember starting chaos cause fires would spread till firefighters put them out. Good server for back in like 2011/12.
