The 230 grains 45 acp average kinetic energy is about 405 foot lbs for non +p ammo at 230 grains and travels around 900ft/sec on average. I much rather have that than any 9mm. The only advantage 9mm has is capacity and speed and for those of us limited to 10 rounds due to the tyrannical covert disarmament program of the American people, it’s going to come down to what can you shoot better .
Big diff between a 9mm and a .45. Just shot my .45 last weekend-- makes a bigger deadlier hole with more power. You can put them down with a few shots or put 'em in a box with one shot.
Theres a reason that cops today dont prefer the 9mm. What do they prefer? 40 S&W - the ballistics of which are much closer the 45 than they are to a 9. *One shot stopping power* is what I would prefer. Just my opinion
With 9mm you get higher capacity, less recoil and similar energy (even more with +p). The only benefit of .45 is the decreased penetration for home defense scenarios and the fact that normal .45 is subsonic makes it great for running a suppressor.
