    how much did you have to shorten the driveshaft?

    Good job cool truck
    I thought you would need a second tranny cross brace. I have RV with two-piece driveshaft this was helpful it looks easy.

    How much does the overdrive unit weigh?

    • @GrimRepair

      I don't know for sure it was a lot smaller than I was expecting. It all came in a box, probably 20x20x10, and I could pick it up and carry it.

      @@GrimRepair I was just wondering about hanging it on the tail end of the tranny like that. Used to be an overdrive called(I believe) Hone-O-Drive that mounted in the middle of the driveshaft with it's own U joints and cross member. At first I thought that was the Gear Vendor kit.

    Do you know if you can just remove the speed sensor and controller and run a hot on a switch to the unit? Mine shifts funky at 40/45. Mine is from about 1990 so I am sure the computer is the culprit. Zero help from Gear Vendor. I don't care to split shifts in 1st and 2nd just turn it on when I am getting on a highway. I run 4.10's and its fine around town with the ATI turbo.

      I think you can just run 12v to the actuator when you want it in overdrive. I would leave the speed sensor in there it make the speedo cable longer. Just don't hook the wires to anything. Most importantly, don't forget to subscribe.🙂

    Question i own a 1986 f250 4x4 6.9 idi diesel with c6 being mine has transfer case would it bolt on my tramsfer case amd shorten my drive shaft

    • @GrimRepair

      I know they have a kit for 4x4, and I believe it bolts onto the transfer case. You can't use it when in 4x4.

    • @idahopotato5837

      I have an '85 6.9 turbo with the C6 . You replace the rear of the transfer case with the GV case half. I'm sure the drive shaft is shorter. I have 4.10's and its great as a highway gear.

    Why not use studs on the front 4 bolt holes.

    • @GrimRepair

      I'm sure you could. The kit didn't come with any, It said to reuse the original bolts.

      When diesel was $7 a gallon, it made a lot more sense. It's around $3000 new and hard to find complete used.

      I'd looked just after asking, but just wondering.... how much did it help?

    • @GrimRepair

      @Mr.EeToMyself In not sure. I added a turbo, and a 3000lb camper at the same time. During the few test runs I did it lowered the rpms by 500 at freeway speeds.
