I under stand the concept of the GV. How does it prevent transfer case windup as the ratio in overdrive is different than the front axle when the transfer case is in 4 hi or low? the output shaft at the rear will differ than the front with the transfer case engaged. Am I wrong?
You can drive around with 2 different ratios front and rear. You just can't use 4wd when you're using two different ratios. I used to drive around with 33s on the front and 31s on the back when I did my dually swap the first time. It won't hurt anything
I'm very curious about why a GV was chosen for this I've never really heard anyone run it this type of application. Lots of drag and guys use them for the highway drop RPM with minimal load on them but I've also seen alot of guys blow them up when they are engaged and a fair bit of torque is applied to them.
From what I understand he's going back to pilot car running with this truck. Considering there won't be any hard loads on it I think it'll be fine. According to GV if you're towing it actually is better for it to tow in 5th with the overdrive on. If you tow in 6th with the OD off it won't last as long.
Neither. Front shaft is staying and it's keeping the factory hubs. They used to be worth it back when they were 1300. Now they're 2k+ after shipping. From my experience, there is no gain to losing the front shaft. I picked up no mileage. I did however gut my front axle shafts and picked up 4mpg so the free spin hubs are well worth it if you drive a lot. Just sucks they're 2k now. I did this experiment on my black 04
@@CPSteveMiller good to hear. I was just worried about the different gear ratios with the gear vendor engaged. I’m very interested in the gear vendor, but looking at hubs first. Safe travels.
I hope he gave you the proper synthetic oil for the Gear Vendors. You definitely want to use what they tell you to use .
I totally agree that is alot of free spanning weight plus the drive shaft not for me neither. Surprise it even works. Another great video
You deffinetly can reuse the neutral safety switch, the white peice slides off the side.
He actually said he didn't want it anyway. When you're sleeping in the back it's nice just to be able to turn the key and not have to push the clutch
Good work!

@@CPSteveMiller That makes more cents to me! For a Pilot or Escort it should work great. But its just not for me either.🤔
Are you leaving the front drive shaft out, or free spin hubs?
