Buddy Ebsen played Daddy Golightly in the film. Elly Mae loved Orangey and he was in 21 episodes of Beverly Hillbillies as Rusty, with his last acting role being a 1971 episode. At 17, he also played Rusty in a 1967 episode of Mission: Impossible, where he walks across a thin piece of wood carrying sumpin' in his malf. 23 when he died of failure to keep living. 90 lives instead of 9.
The real name of cat that was in this movie was ORANGEY and was owned and trained by Frank Inn who is famous for training the dog in the BENJI movies. This cat lived to be 23 years old and worked in more than 500 films during his long career. I thought others might like that extra bit of info about the cat from the book... That cat is the perfect actor for this role. All the loud partying, ransacking, pressure cooker explosions, and rain don’t faze him. He is extraordinary!
Orangey won a PATSY award (the animal equivalent of an Oscar) for this role and for his hilarious work in Rhubarb. Only cat to ever win 2 PATSY's. Thanks for the clips!
The Cat's name is Orangey he was an Animal Actor known for it's roles in movies " Rhubarb, The Island Earth, The Incredible Shrinking Man, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gigot, The Comedy of errors & Village of the Giants. He worked from the 1950's to the 60's.
Over 10 years old actually ... he was already a ten year veteran as an actor ... having made his first movie in 1951 ('Rhubarb'). He won a PATSY award for both this performance and for his performance in 'Rhubarb' ten years earlier.
He kind of did win an Oscar... actually two during his career ... well not OSCARS but the animal actor equivalent ... the P.A.T.S.Y. Award (which stands for Picture Animal Top Star of the Year) for his appearances in both 'Rhubarb' and this very movie 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', he is the only cat so far to win more than once! Here is the only clip I could find on TH-cam from Rhubarb (10 years earlier) ... th-cam.com/video/0VZtlQ2mvaQ/w-d-xo.html...
Paul tells her off in the cab saying she doesn't let herself get close to anyone. She shows she couldn't care less about what he says & in the heat of the moment proudly dumps Cat to prove her point but knows she's "cut her nose off to spite her face" as they say ie. does it but deep down truly didn't want to as she loves Cat & is attached to Cat despite abandoning it. But her decision gets the better of her, she knows she's stuffed up by being too proud & runs out to desperately search for Cat.
While I do like this movie I LOVE what you did here with the "cat clips." Very well done for all us cat lovers and it was only in these clips that I noticed that "Cat" was WHOLE!!! He's a good actor, that cat; he really does play all his scenes quite well.
Originally owned by Agnes Murray of Sherman Oaks, CA, Orangey was judged meanest looking, ugliest, most bad tempered cat in a nationwide talent contest involving 3,000 cats & won the role of Rhubarb, a millionaire cat in the 1951 movie of the same name. He won the 1952 Patsy Award ("animal Oscar"). Murray sold him to legendary Hollywood trainer Frank Inn. Orangey was annoyed when he had to affix his pawprint to his $450 per week Paramount contract. Also won Patsy 10 yrs later for Breakfast at Tiffany's. There were dozens of news articles on Orangey in the early 1950's, but I have Genealogy Bank & know some of his history from reading the old news articles. I had no idea, however, that he lived to be 23, which he would have been circa 1972.
That cat really touched a cord in so many people! He was my favorite actor in that movie too! You did a great job, but there's one great scene that you missed, when he hisses at the guy with the dog mask! LOL.
Her absolute worst behavior was when she pushed " The.Cat" out of a cab into the pouring rain! As an avid cat.lover & owner of 2 handsome cats, needless to say, I was pissed!!
I think... I may be wrong... But there was a split second when Cat snarled at Paul who was in his dog mask as he climbed into Holly's bedroom. Has this scene been misses out? I love the sassy, hostile look.
I think what Paul said to her just made her world crash down on her and reality hit her and just couldn't handle it. So she left cat outside in the rain.
I never liked this movie. The main character was shallow messed up and stupid. That she threw her her cat out in the rain like that, even for a moment, just takes the cake.
The cat arguably symbolises Holly and her lost self. She doesn't know whether she's Lula may or anyone else. That's why the cat is a 'nameless slob'. In real life, Audrey hated having to throw the cat out, but made sure the cat got lots of treats as soon as it happened. :)

23! That is extraordinarily long. He was so cute too. Thanks for the info.
Thank you for that info. I was a human to a very wise old cat who loved cartoons and the Benji movies.
Ooooooooo
Ooooooo
That last scene brought a tear to my eye. So beautiful...

Cat deserves an Oscar.
He was the first cat to win two PATSY awards - animal oscars, effectively.
He was 10 years old on this film.

That first shot with Audrey in the bed, he looks like he's giving her a back rub!
The academy award for best actor goes to… Orangey!!!!!!!🎉
nice edit...the cat added something importand in this great movie...
Orangey gave a powerful yet nuanced performance!
That cat's terrific; a nice tom; he was a good guy, that cat!!!
I love "Breakfast Cat Tiffany" even more than "Breakfast at Tiffany"!
That cat must be Garfield's lost brother.
That cat really touched a cord in so many people! He was my favorite actor in that movie too! You did a great job, but there's one great scene that you missed, when he hisses at the guy with the dog mask! LOL.
" The Cat" was the real star of the movie & thank you for the info!! 💘
You're probably my favourite person for doing this
Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeooooooow!!!!!!!!!!... I love that cat!!!!!
Now, that's a party!! Nothing like NYC nightlife!!! Love it!! 💘 🌟 😍 📷
5:44 really breaks my heart...and made me hate Holly...until she redeems herself at the very end.
Luv what u did here!! Yes, with Orangey being in it are some of the best footage of the film.
Her absolute worst behavior was when she pushed " The.Cat" out of a cab into the pouring rain! As an avid cat.lover & owner of 2 handsome cats, needless to say, I was pissed!!
Just saw this in cinema, I also liked cat scenes most...+ whole party thing. Nice editing job!
What a good-looking, stalwart cat
I like how this cat just doesn't give a fuck.
It really is at least two different cats. The fur pattern is different.
Whoever keeps cutting onions, cut it out!
@totnesmartin OMG, is that true? I love the film Rhubarb! I love this cat, period!
💙❤️
i didn’t expect to start crying
that cat starred as well in the film "Incredible shrinking Man"
Literally like my cat Bill
Was he orange?
Yes, my beautiful orange boy
💖
I thought i was really original naming my cat Cat but then someone told me about this film
You're right well done 👏
That kitty inhaled a lot cigarette smoke
''reality hit her and just couldn't handle it '' amazing comment
Real good!
WTF I DIDNT SIGN UP FOR THIS FEELS TRIP
She got him back in the end
I think... I may be wrong... But there was a split second when Cat snarled at Paul who was in his dog mask as he climbed into Holly's bedroom. Has this scene been misses out? I love the sassy, hostile look.
Do you know the site where i can watch this movie breakfast in tiffanys, my friend said it's a nice one.., thanks!
@Mimi Doolittle: Haven't you learned anything from "Breakfast At Tiffany's"? You don't own your tabby; he doesn't own you. Sheesh!
My lovely queen😍😍😍😗😗😗😗
Thank you A_
I tawt I taw a puddy tat! 😻
It was funny when the cat was messing around
the cat looks seriuslly pissed at 5:46
Orangey the cat at 6:25 please don't squish me.... 6:30 I be squished
I know she did, but why did she abandon him :(
meow
I think what Paul said to her just made her world crash down on her and reality hit her and just couldn't handle it. So she left cat outside in the rain.
why did she abandon cat
SE...PASA... el felin me mata.... x Dios
For this brilliant idea, Alex DeCosta should obviously get a PATSY 😺😺😺 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PATSY_Award
I never liked this movie. The main character was shallow messed up and stupid. That she threw her her cat out in the rain like that, even for a moment, just takes the cake.
DoeDonDoe I couldn't agree more. A better ending would be if the man found the cat and took him home and they lived happily together forever
The cat arguably symbolises Holly and her lost self. She doesn't know whether she's Lula may or anyone else. That's why the cat is a 'nameless slob'.
In real life, Audrey hated having to throw the cat out, but made sure the cat got lots of treats as soon as it happened. :)
It must have been her cat. No self respecting kitty would act that way unless it was Mommy!!
And the cat is dumped just for fun. Very nice scene of this stupid movie. I only like the cat by the way.
I hope this cat is still alive hahahahahahahaha. It's not tho...
Very confusing your edition. All mixed up. Sorry but I didn't like that much...
