It wouldn't make sense to any other generation, and they'd never make a movie just for us aging Gen X'ers. They could maybe make a movie about Gen Z for Gen Z'ers, but that would be a whole different movie, and I wouldn't have a problem with that.

I love how even their seating arrangement indicates their position.
Claire and Andrew sit next to each other at the front, clean-cut and on display.
Bender sits behind them, taking the backseat and watching them with the snarky observations, also partially hidden in their shadow as it were.
Brian and Allison are off to the side, both much more isolated than the others, but Brian is in the front (good student with a good image) and Allison is in the back (forgotten wallflower)

    Dear Mr. Vernon,
We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us - in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess, and a criminal.
    Does that answer your question?
    Sincerely yours,
    The Breakfast Club

Can we go back to the 80s? It wasn't perfect but there was so much hope in the air. Simpler times...so uncomplicated. Great music.

Most brilliant movie from that era. It really captured the vibe of 80's high school culture. Every time I see it I feel like I'm in a time capsule, seeing/experiencing that part of my life once again.

Those school lockers were the same ones in my school back in 80's. Proud to be gen-X. 80's ruled!!! Seeing those school lockers brings back flashes of memories of my high school years. Conversations with friends and classmates while standing at those lockers. Just memories......

i was on the football team and they used to paint hand crafted signs for each of the players on friday before gameday and put them on the lockers. we would come in with our jerseys on and a shirt and tie. small school but lots of spirit. that day all the girls were eyeing even a geek like me.

Simple Minds performed this historic song live yesterday in Groningen along with a number of their other classics. It was amazing.
The fact that you can play just two notes anywhere around the world and everyone knows what song it's going to be, now that's an accomplishment. These guys are legends.

Not quite - I read about it yesterday ... it was written for Simple Minds, but they were reluctant, preferring to concentrate on their own music. Note that it was never included on one of their albums.
The writers then offered it to Bryan Ferry and Billy Idol, who declined. Then Chrissie Hynde (Jim Kerr's wife at the time) and their manager piled on the pressure, and they recorded it.

Fortunately, I lived through the eighties. I grew up with the myth of American films! My dream has always been to attend an American high school! When I look at this masterpiece my dream comes true. Immense Hughes. Thank you very much for the emotions you sent me. A hug from Italy.
