I didn't get into Bowie until a few months ago, and I've been obsessively learning about him ever since. He was such a lovely, intelligent, interesting, and polite person. It's more than upsetting to think that he's gone now, and that I didn't appreciate him until afterwards.

That is exactly what I'm going through right now. I really only became familiarized with him a few days ago, and right now I'm obsessed in finding as much material about him as possible. It really proves how he can impact people even after he's gone. He's left such an unforgettable mark on entertainment history.

Anyone still fucking DOUBTING that Bowie is NOT an "alien" should be totally CONVINCED now!!!... There is no fucking way a 57 year old man here on Earth can manage to look this FLAWLESS!!!... His allotted time on Earth ended at the age of 69... Such number having MAJOR SIGNIFICANCE since in 69 is when he started gaining the recognition he knew he was meant to accomplish as part of his MISSION here on Earth... The STARMAN who fell to Earth from who knows what "planet" or "solar system" sadly had to eventually return to where he came from but not before BLOWING our minds with his INCREDIBLE GENIUS!!!..

I loved that he never truly got over his Anthony Newley obsession. It's almost forgotten now but at the time (1961) Newley's West End and Broadway hit 'Stop the World, I Want to Get Off' was as big a 60s pop art statement as any of the more currently celebrated 60s moments. The idea of a similar piece with rock (instead of show-tune) music, especially if it was by Bowie, is still mouthwatering.

Would have liked to hear him expound on that. A lot of country western seems to be based in generating an image that the songs and sometimes performers attempt to portray, which apparently is very similar to how Bowie developed his music... the difference being that country is based on actual or potential life events versus the more fantastic imagery that Bowie used. Maybe he found it too narrowly focused musically to be of interest to him, but I would have liked to hear his reasoning rather than trying to speculate.

Such a spikey interview. But Bowie made the very best of it.

It's crazy to think that one of his very last projects ended up being a musical: Lazarus. Things kinda came full circle.

Great interview but as we know David forgets things from the past. Saying Ziggy only played the UK & the States. Afraid he forgot to add Japan. Love on ya David.

+ziggygas rovers f.c Well I doubt he really forgot as much of Ziggy drew from Japanese influences especially his costumes by Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto .

I think the 2010s have been all about disillusionment and the look for escapes. Be interesting to see what the 2020s might bring. Too early to tell I think, but maybe a focus on making your own way and that self-awareness and DIY aspect to things, not like punk per se, but something else

Can somebody enlighten me on Bowie's dislike for Country & Western? Did he have a bad experience with it? He always laughs when he says he likes everything,, except C&W of course!
