I remember reading in a book that Bowie was really into Video Editing in the 70's, when the equipment was still really cumbersome and primitive. No wonder he liked that little camera.
Lady BlackstarDust It's 'Life on Mars':, and although Rick Wakeman played on the original recording, Mike Garson performed it live with Bowie, first, as a member of his backing band The Spiders from Mars from his Ziggy Stardust period, and, then again, when he rejoined Bowie in the mid 90's up until his last tour to support the Reality album in 2003-2004. Garson also worked with Bowie on his final two albums The Next Day and Blackstar.
30-40mins to download a 3 minute song. I remember that. Now we can download a whole album in 3 minutes. David saw the future of the Internet 10 years before it happened. Top bloke
I'm sure he was different in his personal life but I adore and admire his light sense of humour and warm persona present in most of his interviews... There were some stupid interviewers in the past he was a little sarcastic with but I love how he feeds off the interviewer. What they offer him is what he offers back it seems. I will always admire and remember him.
Sophie Nugent exactly! Not only did Bowie handle that moron perfectly but he really made Russel out to sound stupid! And the part of his first interview with Harty where he says his sexually explicit fan mail is "heavy duty" the moron has the nerve to say "heavy dewey?" Like the guy literally is literally as British as Bowie had he still mocked his speech. No wonder Bowie was so snarky and sarcastic the second time on the show haha
vshvev hfrfery i thought that as well aha. Like he was friendly and shy in the first interview and in the second interview he was really sarcastic and rude and I admire that so much❤
He was very different, he was. And I'm glad. Some of them were really ignorant. They didn't get that he wasn't mainstream and that he didn't think like them. So he couldn't reply like they would.
I binge watch his inyetviews during quarantine. One thing becomes so clear to me, David Bowie was a man who really loved life and loved people. His energy in everything was like a bright light of the dun.
He is like the cool dad at your friends house. When u are around him you are shy or even seem intimitated but you just cannot grasp on how cool, down to earth and relatable he is. You just wanna be around him all the time. Anyone else catch that vibe?
Exactly! I’m actually not a Bowie fan, but I’m watching his interviews for a personal project, and during this one, I was tearing up the whole time because he just has such a comforting vibe. It’s like he’s that super cool friend of your parents that they invite over for Christmas. And it’s kind of like that feeling when you’re not really prepared for good things in your life, but they suddenly happen, and you can’t help but feel this deep comfort and calm… and it makes you want to cry.
He sure looks like he lived those 69 years to the fullest. What a wonderful way to live always involved with everything and always used his music to communicate with his fans.
This candid footage is yet another document of the generous, collaborative, intelligent and inspiring character this man was throughout his life......Like the global outpouring of grief is demonstrating, his loss from the cultural sphere is so profound because his magnetic presence while universal, was simultaneously deeply personal. The only thing that exceeded his inexhaustible talent was his insatiable enthusiasm for life and the creative process .....the world has lost not merely a pioneering, prolific artist but a one man constellation of contemporary cultural literacy. Thank you for posting this great material.
Yeah, it was simple. Direct messaging over email to my friend abroad. I also loved the Bowienet community. All of us fans together was ace. I'm pretty certain I chatted with David at least a couple of times on there. It was friendly, fun and cultural chat. So good. ❤️
We do, but we have to evolve, too, and I believe we are, but it's obviously slow. In 1993 David predicted humanity would have to evolve to cope with the fragmentation of society that was happening because of technology, and hence the internet and social media, before it breaks us. And what's happening? Exactly what he said. We created a monster. Such a visionary. Love him. 🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️
I absolutely love it when David talked about the net he had such a good grasp of it and looked at it in a positive light. Many artists werent so fond of it and had trouble accepting it (Prince for example) but David always tried working around it and used it to his advantage. He had always been forward-looking.
Thanks for sharing this great interview. David comes across so nice, talkative, easy going, intelligent and handsome. He's all in one. He knows so much and is so up-to-date with everything. What a great, lovely, beautiful man. I miss him so much.
Funny and silly and gracious. So down to earth. I wish we would have had many more birthdays! Thank you for everything you gave to us to cherish forever.
Wow Marc. What a stunning interview. This has thrilled me, cheered me up and highlighted my upset all at once. This is the most relaxed and enthused I have seen David be in an interview. How wonderful to be party to this via the wonders of the internet. (David had that so right.) Thank you for your generosity in sharing this great moment. I think it will become a go to of mine.
What a thoughtful, highly intelligent, energetic genius David Bowie was. The world has lost so much :( I wish Marc had a mic on for this interview as I really can't hear his questions.. but I figure out what the question was by David's answer. :)
the coolest guy who was on this earth. isn’t it wonderful with all the videos, songs, interviews, photos that we can have him available!! what a guy that I never knew!!! Miss you, David, but will, through the magic of technology, be able to be with you!!!!! I always seem to find something that I never knew. Enjoy spending time with you and your fabulous musicians. thanks, and love.
Thank you for the video! Especially the last 4 minutes peek behind scene, which is the first time I see a hint of David Jones instead of David Bowie, and he just looks like a lovely warm hearted uncle, love that
Thanks for posting this brilliant interview! It shows how visionary and brilliant DB was and why he had such an influence in the world of arts over more than 40 years! It's hard not to miss his genius😔
Thanks for sharing this video. So good! I love David's energy. He was incredibly perceptive in his understanding of the future Internet & I love the way he used the net to create a more immediate conversation with his fans & how he freely shared his music with them. Once AI, AR & VR have evolved, perhaps with contact lenses for the screen & membranes for the ears & it's all even more immersive & seamless than it already is, I fully expect to find Bowie in the new worlds this technology will create.
Ah! That's interesting.. The artist that he mentioned who created the projected faces must have been the one who worked on the Where Are We Now video in 2013. 16 years later!
Young artists repository is needed - this could be a safe place to send creative endeavours for young people (and maybe some wacky artists) - pre-filtering BEFORE it goes on the net is sometimes necessary dependent on subject matter - it's a shame young people are posting all sorts of things then online orgs seem to be in constant catch-up in 'removing' or 'painting over'. In the physical world a painting would probably be viewed and assessed before display - the internet seems to work the other way around in the present tense - maybe it will change - then again is this freedom of expression?
Still and again and again. Thanks for this interview, I really like ...still ...after all these years ...by the way: Is Marc Scarpa still working as a journalist? Greetings!
In this video, David invents the idea of Itunes. Mindblowing...
I remember reading in a book that Bowie was really into Video Editing in the 70's, when the equipment was still really cumbersome and primitive. No wonder he liked that little camera.
He was always up to date with the times, constantly evolving, clever and so goddamn charming.
Rick Wakeman. 1/10/16. Piano solo "Live on Mars". Poigant and beautiful. "Very clever guy".

And god damn kind and genetous too.

it was not a hard think to "see" in the 90s...
Great man, miss him.
What a charming individual.

The 50th Birthday concerts were incredible! And Quicksand is still very much loved! I know, I sang it at karaoke and several people cried!

@@steffanhoffmann8937bruh
What a beautiful description. I'm still feeling the loss in 2024. ❤
Such a clever and gorgeous man
Bowie seems like he was a really nice person. Like he would just talk to you like a normal person, and not the massive star that he was.
@ 11:58 David Bowie flat out predicted streaming services and social media. He even said they’ll monopolize the web…..and 10 years later it began.
god he looks good
+CHRISTINE PHILLIPS Hard to ignore isn't it!
+CHRISTINE PHILLIPS My favorite look of his, red, sort, spiky hair, facial hair, the begining of wrinkles....yum.
Ridiculously attractive on so many levels. So good I don't even mind that dodgy little soul patch/goatee . On anyone else 😑😖
I prefer the look when je had hiscfaughter the most. EPIC.
Delicious at ever stage of life- his voice a sensual spell cast upon women around the globe. I love him still.
I love hearing people talk about the internet in the 90’s
Yeah, it was simple. Direct messaging over email to my friend abroad.

I love how he shows passion and excitement for everything
Didn't he have the most wonderful laugh?
I just couldn't stop smiling, what a charming man he was... Always knew what to say too, always lovely to watch!
Fab ... I hope my YT Bowie songs makes him smile from far far away ... so cool.
"I love the pixelation. It's fantastic."
Bowie was THE MAN of culture.
Discussing video streaming and downloading music in 1997. So forward thinking.
His vision on music online is again proven that he is way ahead of his time. He is indeed an alien sent to earth.
David Bowie talks on such a high vibration ❤️🍀 we have to go back to the old ways 🍀✔️➕🌙 He is a 🌟

Yes, truly he is(was) !!
He was a good guy, i like his 90s period too. There was akways something in his work apart from some of the 80s lagged a bit
I absolutely love it when David talked about the net he had such a good grasp of it and looked at it in a positive light. Definitely! And the handsomest! 😍

Well the answers were interesting, can't say the questions were as I couldn't hear them.
Bowie looks he could have made a Bond villain here.
Clive Bindley you know he was offered a roll as a jame Bond villain in the mid 80’s
