Yes, this album is polished, beautifully mixed. It's a big sounding album sonically. I think this recording is more progresive in the fact that it has mixed meter songs that have interesting grooves with clear improvisation used in the piano solos and horns.
This is the first that I have heard about Fleet Foxes. But just listening to the snippets of the songs you played, I am curious to hear more. Thanks TJR for this posting. I am always eager to discover new music.
I think this is a more straight foward álbum, the production is much better and its definiteley sonically different from his previous álbum, more focurs on beat with bears drumming, and the strong sound of the bass. Lovin the álbum through crack UP for me is the Best on a compositional level
I must be a different kind of listener. 🤔 When I hear a band's first album (to me, not necessarily their first entirely), I look to see where they have evolved from and where they're going to. If the second album you put out sounds exactly like your first, I see you as a one trick pony, who will fade out of existence.

Awesome commentary. Too many reviewers have been totally dismissing Crack-Up in their analysis but I think the records are best taken as a pair.

I will say they haven’t filled the Father John Misty hole yet, but still love the band.
