One thing i find funny about chickens is you can have 1 box per hen, and theyll still line up to use the same one. No joke, i got 12 boxes, and 24 hens. They use 3 of them. Ive seen them gather around a singular one waiting for the hen in there to finish
It probably isn't a problem for you, but if you want to encourage them to use the other laying areas, add golf balls or ceramic eggs to the others. Then if your hen gets broody and you want chick's you won't have as many issues. Just a tip!
I know. I’m totally new to this. “So Wait, 4 to 5 boxes per chicken. Man, how many eggs can one chicken actually lay??!?!!? Wait maybe she said forty five.”
@@techontroltreasures6154 Good point. I wonder if you could drive some metal rods down deep enough and close enough to stop them. I'm also not clear what that metal pedal does as far as cleaning.
Do you have to worry about predators where you are? Or do you have a fix for that, just not in this video. I haven't built my coop/run yet. This is really cute and simple.

Hahah yes! This is SO TRUE!
Yep!!

Awesome build! May I ask where you got the wheels from the chicken tractor?
Thats a great cop, where do you buy the lifting wheels
We get them from ChickLifts!
Nice work. I like the design and the easy eggcess.
Haha thanks!
Do you add any type of wind/cold protection in winter?
We don't because we live in the south!
Wait 4-5 nesting boxes per chicken or a nesting box per 4-5 chickens
I misspoke in the video! Nesting box per 4-5 chickens LOL
@@ReformedAcres😂
Haha I was like, those are some freaking finicky chickens you’ve got
I know. I’m totally new to this. “So Wait, 4 to 5 boxes per chicken. Man, how many eggs can one chicken actually lay??!?!!? Wait maybe she said forty five.”
2 things. They wil roost on the nest and they don't mind curling their toes.
They roost on the bars :)
I do my bucket boxes the other direction through the wall so I can pop off the lid and grab eggs from the outside
Looks like she lowers a panel from outside.
That's a neat idea too!
A fox would dig under that and there would be no more chickens after.

We have had it for 3 years and never lost a chicken to a predator while inside the tractor :)
Is this where you put them up at night? I’m considering doing the same hoop coop and I want it to be movable but I worry about predators.
Yes this is their coop all the time! We have build plans for it if it's helpful to you :)
I am looking to build one. Is there a way to send over the building plans here, or would we have to go off TH-cam? Thanks!
@@ReformedAcrescan I please get the build plans
Can I get build plans?
Where didv you get those wheels?
Nice build. Thank your for sharing! I have subscribed to follow your journey.
Thank you so much!
Looks good!
Thank you!
Can I have your build plans? I would love to build this… it’s a great design!!
Thank you! You can find them at bit.ly/chickentractorbuild :)
The tail hole in the nesting buckets 🥹
Haha and it's great for grabbing eggs too!
I have one chicken laying eggs and i have 15 nesting boxes. She lays her eggs in a nest she made in the middle of the floor
Hahaha that's how they are!
What wheels did you use where did you aquire then? How much weight can they handle?
We use the ChickLifts wide track wheels and they are VERY sturdy!
Boa ideia
Thank you!
Nice!
Thanks!

How tall is this at its peak?
About 6 feet :)
First is 1098…
What's the green wheel thing? Link?
It's the wide track option from ChickLifts ☺️

@@ReformedAcres thx!
Location, location, location and good wire mesh.
Yep, all that is important!
Did you just say 4 to 5 nesting boxes per chicken? Well I need four to five houses but that ain't going to happen
I totally misspoke! 4-5 hens per nesting box 😂
