3 things YOU NEED TO KNOW before getting backyard chickens ☺️
It’s hard work but I bet it’s rewarding… I’m older so couldn’t even try to keep up … much respect 🫡 ❤❤
She got them sweet potato clones 😂❤
THEN YOU ARE NOT A CLEAN PERSON. I WILL NOT EAT AT YOUR HOUSE
Where did you get your wheels for the chicken tractor
Bird feathers (fluff) are an excellent and durable material for filling pillows. Such pillows are expensive nowadays. Heavier, but also the large feathers on the wings can be plucked manually (one by one). They can have uses in works of art, craft. (They can probably also be sold ) A chief feather hat, from the long feathers of a rooster wings? For children's amusement, of course. Turkey feather are better for this. A long feather from the wings can be used to grease a pan with oil. Tthey were used so in the old times.
Everyone did it years ago😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
Before putting them in hot water, pluck the feathers from the body by hand. The small, flexible, clean ones. Leave them in the air then put them in a cloth bag. Over time you will collect enough to fill a pillow, then another pillow... That's what our great-grandmothers did.
I doubt that you are the first generation homesteaders. What did your ancestors do 200 years ago? Or 500 years ago, or 1000 years ago... It's just the return, the call of the earth and the voice of your ancestors.
Where do you find these wheels?
Bit.ly/chickentractorwheels (commissionable link) ☺️
You've just destroyed my idyllic vision of countryside life! Just kidding, I know how it is.
Hahaha!
Shhh you give away our secrets.
Hahah!
Most vanilla extracts use bourbon I think
I would love to build something like this, but I like in MI and i'd have to have a separate shelter for winter
Ahh yes we live in the south!
Dishes in the sink? DISHES IN THE S I N K! These are omens and portents signifying the arrival of the Apocalypse. Okay, maybe not that bad. But still...
LOL 😅
Imagine traveling hundreds of miles by horse drawn wagon and constructing a mud brick dugout with only a pick axe and shovel and a wood axe and hand saw and then being concerned about dirty dishes and clothes.......
I'm not worried :) but many moms think they must be perfect, and it's not that serious :)
Your house will never thank you for how clean it is, but your kids will thank you for being there for them ❤
Love this!!
The simple life!! Nothing better ❤
I agree!
You get what you can get done each day and don't worry about what you can't get done. I understand.
Yes, love this!
Admire your choices. I'm sooooo envious.
Ahhh thanks! All glory to God!
You got it!
Tell me about those chicken tractor wheels PLEASE
You can find them at bit.ly/chickentractorwheels (commissionable link) ☺️
We are the same or similar.. kindred spirits.. homesteading in Southern VA. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks, you too!
You are my Person!
Great minds think alike!
Awww your little boys and chickens are so cute!
Thank you!
Love your boots
Thank you! Hisea brand!
I'm so glad that you spent time with your children you don't want your children to remember the only thing that was important to Mom was how spotless her kitchen was. Build memories skills for their whole life that they can lean back on and use. I am tired of people that spend their whole time trolling through TH-cam and the internet criticizing other people while I know their house isn't perfect... every time someone is critical of another person my dad always said when you point a finger go look in the mirror and see how many points back.
The kids will be homeschooled so not a chance for further education. Well, the can become t dnecks and trump voters
Such good points!
Helps to reduce stress, to not sweat the small stuff and most of life is small stuff.
Yes so true!
You def need a good quality vodka.
I heard it said I am raising children not grass. I guess you could say I’m raising children and I don’t live in a glass house so you can’t see my kitchen and you can’t see my room you presume that I keep my house like you keep your house spotless just in case you come over😂😢
Hahaha!
Awesome, what's really important. Spotless vs tidy n clean. As someone who cant rn its tough, so i had to change my priorities and its okay. 😊
Very true! Just do what you can :)
So basically vanilla infused vodka. I should have tried this ages ago.
The higher the alcohol content the faster and better it turns out, we made vanilla extract in my culinary class last year with a guest teacher and she brought us grade B Tahitian vanilla beans and we made both regular and alcohol free vanilla extract. She used 80proof vodka, the BIG plastic jug with a red label, and we put like 25 vanilla beans in it and we haven’t even used half of it and we made it last year. It’s so good. The alcohol free that we made used glycerin, 10 beans and some glycerin. It worked, but it wasn’t very strong and it took forever to process to be useable in baking but it still worked. Our regular vanilla took 3 months before we could use it and the glycerin one took closer to 6. But yeah, you do get what you pay for, it’s easier to make it yourself and have good stuff but get good quality beans and alcohol.
I thought it takes a year to make
You can use as early as 6-8 weeks but the longer it sits the better :)
Can you use anything else that’s kid friendly? Like, no alcohol and things like that?..
I haven't tried any other way :)
Except vanilla beans cost 8$ each..and vanilla extract cost 8 bucks.... so no...its not cost efficient AT ALL.
Hmmm where are you buying beans? I've seen 10+ for $17 or less that makes 1 about over a dollar each. You can reuse these up to 3/4 times. Everytime you finish you can recover with alcohol and create more extract.
I get vanilla beans in a 25 pack for about $1 each on Amazon, and pure vanilla extract is NOT $8 for this quantity. :)
Not when vanilla beans cost a fortune
They're actually not that bad if you buy in bulk; you can get about 10 for $17 or less and they can be reused up to 3-4 times. You just need a dark bottle, pods, alcohol like vodka, cover and wait. It is SO good we do this at home. Once you finish recover with vodka and enjoy again 3 more times
@@luminvader8911 I think I need to find a new place to buy them because I'm getting 2 for that price
@@luminvader8911 I am also UK so that might be why they cost more for me
It’s best to use Everclear for this type of tincture
@@corstasclashcam8925you reuse the beans buy them in bulk and make a big jar
All I can think of is the vanilla extract meme
May i ask, why alcohol?
something about the flavour bonding to the hydrocarbon chain, i forget tbh. best explanation i have
It's an excellent solvent for many flavour compounds. It tends to cook out from cakes and such and it's tiny amounts anyways
I quit drinking 4 years ago- is there anything else you can use besides alcohol (vodka)?
if you're using the extract in stuff like baking the alcohol should cook out (or be in really small amounts, like frosting), but if buying alcohol is the issue i believe i've also seen extracts using vegetable glycerin, or even water (though if using just water it needs to be kept cool in a fridge). they're might be other ways as well, i'm not fully sure!
you could put vanilla beans into sugar. Then you'll have vanilla sugar
You shouldn't drink the extract. The alcohol will evaporate in cooking. If you are concerned that buying alcohol may open up old habits, buy only the exact amount you need. If you are concerned, you can't buy the amount you need without being tempted by other alcoholic products at the store. Ask a friend or family member to get a neutral grain spirit (vodka) so that you aren't tempted.
You can use glycerin. It’s not as strong and it takes longer to process but it still works, we make vanilla extract in my culinary class last year and we made regular (with vodka) and alcohol free (with glycerin)
@@maxbro2911 thank you!!! 😊
Wow
Thanks
Good for you Girl!❤
Ahh thanks!
Keep the cup under, and use a small brush to brush the bugs in the water. It's easier.
Love this!
Thank you!
