The journey where your legs beg for mercy, but your mind says, "Let's get high on history!" Who knew trekking could be this much of an uphill battle for your breath, and yet downhill fun for your Instagram? Machu Picchu has been my personal bucket list since then. Hopefully, when the luck finds me, my travel dart would perfectly land in Peru so I could experience it, too!
wow, much love to the Indigenous people & their lands.. absolutely beautiful ❤️ Extra shout out to young Hairo & to the many llamas everywhere 🦙🏞️ Beautiful hospitality 💯 Thanks guys for sharing your adventures 🙂
Harriet and I did a similar hike in Cusco but had to be careful about attitudes and had prepared for it with medical remedies. It helped us throughout the hike. Hope you managed to enjoy the people, food and culture. Hope you're doing ok. All the best 🙏❤🙏 Harriet, Jim and Yuki Richmond, Va.
Glad you guys were well prepared, you just never know with altitude sickness - the pills I had didn't help at all sadly. Definitely still managed to enjoy myself 😊 Such a beautiful place and amazing people!
What an incredible experience!! In my 2 visits to Peru (and Machu Picchu), I never had this hiking and camping experience. Thank you for taking us along! I feel for Stace with her altitude sickness. What a trooper!!
Great job completing the hike despite the altitude sickness! I've been there and it's not fun. One piece of totally unsolicited advice (please ignore if n/a), is that I've found wearing lighter colors has done wonders to help me hike at altitude. I too always wore black outfits; I also have black hair like Stacey. Switching to a white hat and lighter colored clothing has done wonders to me at altitude. The sun is stronger higher up and even on cloudy days I notice a difference. I no longer feel dizzy, have headaches, etc. and I noticed the difference immediately. Perhaps just something to try!
Thank you so much! Aw nooo, sorry to hear you've experienced it too, it's not much fun! Oh no way, that's SO interesting and very much welcomed advice. I will 100% try this next time, looks like I'm gonna have to go shopppppinnnnggggg 🤗🤣
Stacey so pleased Relieved you Recovered and managed to finish the Trip 🙏🫶 Those socks you bought looked beautiful ( i can imagine how soft they were ) This Trip id Mind blowing and the locals & staff of the trip are so friendly and take care of you All so well.🥰
@@DanegerAndStacey Only Kiwis would say “llamas are just our sheep”……LOL. I did the Inka Trail when it was not crowded as it is now. An amazing experience. Do you know that the word “jerky” was an Inca word that was introduced to English? The Inca Empire had hiking trails that extended from Pasto, Colombia to Maule, Chile, a distance of 5,658 Km. For the purpose of comparison the driving distance from Sydney, NSW to Perth, WA 3,930 Km.
I'm the fan #1 of these guys🎉
Whoop! Thanks!
