    Nice. I vaguely remember watching this before the trip lol. The no porta potties in the historic zone of Matchu Pichu was a problem for me, I need a quick pee more than every 4 hours lol as an old man. LOVED agues calientes, took a million photos in Peru overall, We hit Matchu Pitchu on Valentines day, cloud for an hour very early then it cleared up and was glorious. These are great videos, they helped me even though I was in a group retreat with the details planned for me, but the info here and the well paced, informative and super friendly format you guys do here is top notch! cheers from Canada~

    Nice video, but quick correction: at around 5:30 you discuss Huayna Picchu and describe it as the smaller mound to the left. That would be Huchuy Picchu, which is a shorter but similar hike. The iconic towering backdrop to Machu Picchu is the mountain of Huayna Picchu, and well worth the time and effort to climb and get the view of a lifetime.

      I would look into the Salkantay trek! It’s typically less crowded than the Inca Trail and I did a 5 day 4 night trek to Machu Picchu. It was the best experience ever. I would recommend it to literally anyone who likes a great adventure. We went with Salkantay Trekking Company and they were phenomenal and very well priced for the accommodations provided! I know that the trail and Machu Picchu is currently closed due to political unrest but hopefully it will be open again soon!

      @@SharingtheRoad I'll be scuba diving in Pucusana, an hour south of Lima in a kelp forest where there's sea lions and sometimes penguins, along with the other more typical sea critters. I'll be diving with Pacific Divers who will take you from Miraflores Lima to Pucusana and back if you wish for about $30 a person. They also charge non Divers to be on the boat.
      I'll go there 1 way with Uber with 2 family members that don't dive. I was told by the shop that non Divers can pay fishing boats a few soles🌅 to take them around the island (faro de Pucusana) to see the seals.
      We're going 1 way because after the dive a $100 3 hour uber south will lead us to Huacachina Ica to spend a night

    Great video and information. Is it fairly flat once there or is it full of walking along edges etc. I’m not good with walking along steep trails or along edges with steep declines. But this looks fabulous. Thanks

    This is a great video and so informative. Thanks so much. I agree I think it’s best to spend the night in aguas calientes and then do machu pichu the next day and then take the train back to Cusco that evening. How long do you recommend staying in Cusco? Still so much to see like salt mines, sacred valley, rainbow mountain. And how about Lima? I’m trying to see if 6-7 days would be enough to do the highlights.

    I’m going next week June 9 to Peru and on the 13th going to Cusco to experience Machu Picchu. I am very excited. This video was so helpful and already reserved all tickets needed 2 months ago. I do have a question. Once you arrive, you mentioned choosing a route to walk because there were different ones. Can you provide a link or what search to see those routes and what is seen?

    Very informative video - thanks! Where did you leave your luggage? or overnight bag? I've read you cant take suitcases on the train?

    • @SharingtheRoad
      @SharingtheRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bobby! We just packed in the little backpacks we had, so we didn't need to leave our luggage anywhere. If you are staying in a hotel/hostel, most of them in Cusco will allow you to leave luggage there for free while you are in Aguas Calientes and Machu Pichhu, so it could be worth while emailing them if you have a larger piece of luggage, and can then take a smaller piece on the train. The PeruRail website FAQ also mentions having free luggage lockers at the Poroy station (30 min from Cusco), so that could be an option as well, though it also could help emailing them to confirm for peace of mind :). When are you planning on visiting Machu Picchu Bobby?!?!

      @@SharingtheRoad Thanks so much! Good idea, when booking our hotel/airbnb in Cusco I'll enquire about holding / keeping our luggage while we stay in Aguas Calientes so then we only need to take a smaller bag for the train/overnight stay. As we will have big 30kg suitcases on us, I know the train has weight / size limits right? We will be in Peru / Machu Picchu in April next year! So excited - your videos have been great for lots of tips & places to see!

    This was such a great video and so very helpful. My father is Peruvian but arrived in the states in his 30's and never went back! My birthday is coming up in April and it will be my first experience of my ancestors. I am looking forward to an incredible trip with my husband and will be using all your tips and tricks. Did you find yourself being approached by many "would be" tour guides in Aguas Calientes? I am still on the fence about having one?

    • @SharingtheRoad
      @SharingtheRoad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What a special reason to make the trip!!!! That's so incredible! :) You're going to love your time in Peru. We found everyone to be so friendly and helpful, and the architecture, natural beauty, and food is AMAZING. We weren't approached by many tour guides overall in Aguas Calientes. However, waiting in line at the bus station, there were people that were offering to be guides, but we didn't feel the need to have one. For us, we really enjoyed being able to explore at our own pace, but I do see the benefits if you'd like to learn the history and significance behind the ruins. We listened to a few Inca Civilization podcasts on the flight in, so we felt we had a base knowledge already to operate off of. If you're interested in the podcasts, I can happily find the names of the ones I liked! :)
      We hope you and your husband have an AMAZING trip! -Michael

      If the Machu Picchu planning is too overwhelming, you could always book a Machu Picchu trip through a travel site like Viator. Here's one that we found:
      www.viator.com/tours/Cusco/Machu-Picchu-Day-Trip-from-Cusco/d937-5243MP1DAY?pid=P00087125&mcid=42383&medium=link
      I think you'll just have to get yourself to Cusco which is a pretty easy flight! We hope this helps!

    Hi guys, great video. But I'm so confused between constant use of Machu Picchu and machu pichu entrance journey. As far as I understand the route is Cuzco - Olyantampo- Aguas caliente - machu Picchu. Could you please elaborate on which entrance is strict about and how to co ordinate from a day return to and from Cuzco?
