    Please don't get your passport stamped with touristic stamps, it can literally make your passport invalid, as it's not an official stamp!

    • @hawaiingecko

      Came here to say just that!

      I got my passport stamped at the tourist office in Monaco. Does that count? I've been able to use my passport successfully ever since and that was six years ago

    • @Andrea-pb1tb
      @Andrea-pb1tb หลายเดือนก่อน

      @elizabethbrogan6582 just because you've been lucky ever since doesn't mean we should recommend getting useless stamps in official documents. 🫠

      @ebnola16 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I never had a problem it's in my US passport. I have traveled all over the world 27 countries. I don't think other countries care just do it on a blank page.
      Also do you think other countries know the difference.

    • @Andrea-pb1tb
      @Andrea-pb1tb หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ebnola16 No, you're right, I think other countries might think Machu Picchu might be a country that requires stamps. 😌
      You travelling to any number of countries has literally nothing to do with being a valid argument. 😂😂 I travelled to 61 countries, I've been a flight attendant, I can read. But yeah go ahead and make your passport invalid because you think it's necessary to collect stamps like a little kid. 🙂‍↕️

    Nice video, but quick correction: at around 5:30 you discuss Huayna Picchu and describe it as the smaller mound to the left. That would be Huchuy Picchu, which is a shorter but similar hike. The iconic towering backdrop to Machu Picchu is the mountain of Huayna Picchu, and well worth the time and effort to climb and get the view of a lifetime.

    Nice. I vaguely remember watching this before the trip lol. The no porta potties in the historic zone of Matchu Pichu was a problem for me, I need a quick pee more than every 4 hours lol as an old man. LOVED agues calientes, took a million photos in Peru overall, We hit Matchu Pitchu on Valentines day, cloud for an hour very early then it cleared up and was glorious. These are great videos, they helped me even though I was in a group retreat with the details planned for me, but the info here and the well paced, informative and super friendly format you guys do here is top notch! cheers from Canada~

Still so much to see like salt mines, sacred valley, rainbow mountain. And how about Lima? I’m trying to see if 6-7 days would be enough to do the highlights.

      @@SharingtheRoad I'll be scuba diving in Pucusana, an hour south of Lima in a kelp forest where there's sea lions and sometimes penguins, along with the other more typical sea critters. I'll be diving with Pacific Divers who will take you from Miraflores Lima to Pucusana and back if you wish for about $30 a person. They also charge non Divers to be on the boat.
      I'll go there 1 way with Uber with 2 family members that don't dive. I was told by the shop that non Divers can pay fishing boats a few soles🌅 to take them around the island (faro de Pucusana) to see the seals.
      We're going 1 way because after the dive a $100 3 hour uber south will lead us to Huacachina Ica to spend a night

    This is such a great video! We're planning a trip in early April and it can get quite confusing and overwhelming at times. But I find your suggestion to go to Aguas Calientes the previous day, spend some time there that evening, and head to Machu Pichhu the next morning to be the best plan! However, I do like the idea of hiking up the mountain trail instead of taking the bus (but maybe taking the bus ride back... I'm sure we'll all be dead tired after the 2 hour hike and the 4 hours of walking around the ruins :) ). Your channel has become my go-to for everything around this trip 😍

    I'll be there on September 22. I'm having difficulty buying machu pitchu ticket on the Peru website, only in Spanish, tickets are sold out for 3 days. Could it be the travel companies bought all the time to make money?
    Also, is it easy to buy bug spray in Cusco pharmacy or supermarket? I'm flying budget airlines, paying for Carry on bag already.
    By any chance do you know night buses leaving Lima to Cusco after 10pm? My flight arrives at 10 pm night😢 I'm hoping night bus allows me to sleep before arriving at Cusco 6 hours later?

    This is great! Definitely skip Cusco first initially. The altitude is just way too high for those coming from sea level.
    Ollantaytambo as you two mentioned is a great option to get acclimated or Machu Picchu Pueblo.
    We just got back from Peru today and almost everyday was a complete disaster. From the fire truck crashing into the plane to the numerous strikes and protests that closed rail transportation for two days. Crazy trip! Yours looked great though thanks for sharing!

    This was such a great video and so very helpful. My father is Peruvian but arrived in the states in his 30's and never went back! My birthday is coming up in April and it will be my first experience of my ancestors. I am looking forward to an incredible trip with my husband and will be using all your tips and tricks. Did you find yourself being approached by many "would be" tour guides in Aguas Calientes? I am still on the fence about having one?

    • @SharingtheRoad
      @SharingtheRoad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What a special reason to make the trip!!!! That's so incredible! :) You're going to love your time in Peru. We found everyone to be so friendly and helpful, and the architecture, natural beauty, and food is AMAZING. We weren't approached by many tour guides overall in Aguas Calientes. However, waiting in line at the bus station, there were people that were offering to be guides, but we didn't feel the need to have one. For us, we really enjoyed being able to explore at our own pace, but I do see the benefits if you'd like to learn the history and significance behind the ruins. We listened to a few Inca Civilization podcasts on the flight in, so we felt we had a base knowledge already to operate off of. If you're interested in the podcasts, I can happily find the names of the ones I liked! :)
      We hope you and your husband have an AMAZING trip! -Michael

    Hi! I will be traveling to Machu Picchu soon and I had a quick question! I bought my Machu Picchu tickets and added on a bus ticket. Do they send you 2 separate tickets for the bus and the entrance ticket or is it both included on just the one ticket?
    Also did you have to submit a copy of your passport prior to going to Machu Picchu?
    Your videos have been immensely helpful in planning our trip. Thank you so much!

    Very informative video - thanks! Where did you leave your luggage? or overnight bag? I've read you cant take suitcases on the train?

    • @SharingtheRoad
      @SharingtheRoad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bobby! We just packed in the little backpacks we had, so we didn't need to leave our luggage anywhere. If you are staying in a hotel/hostel, most of them in Cusco will allow you to leave luggage there for free while you are in Aguas Calientes and Machu Pichhu, so it could be worth while emailing them if you have a larger piece of luggage, and can then take a smaller piece on the train. The PeruRail website FAQ also mentions having free luggage lockers at the Poroy station (30 min from Cusco), so that could be an option as well, though it also could help emailing them to confirm for peace of mind :). When are you planning on visiting Machu Picchu Bobby?!?!

    • @bobby4383
      @bobby4383 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SharingtheRoad Thanks so much! Good idea, when booking our hotel/airbnb in Cusco I'll enquire about holding / keeping our luggage while we stay in Aguas Calientes so then we only need to take a smaller bag for the train/overnight stay. As we will have big 30kg suitcases on us, I know the train has weight / size limits right? We will be in Peru / Machu Picchu in April next year! So excited - your videos have been great for lots of tips & places to see!
