After watching again, and other reactors also wanting the Vader/Bariss confrontation, it occurred to me that there is no need for that. While Anakin was furious with Barriss for betraying Ahsoka, he later came to the same conclusion as she did about the Jedi losing their way. As Vader, he appreciates her more than before, and sees her as more ripe for conversion. But, he is also twisted by the Emperor, and doesn't see she was not wanting to overthrow the old ways, but to restore the Jedi traditions of the past as Zen peacekeepers, rather than militaristic oppressors.

As Force Healer Barriss would be giving up some of her life essence as she healed others. Making her age prematurely.

Whether Bariss is alive or dead, I am okay with either because of how they wrote her arc here. People always assumed Bariss and Ahsoka would fight again oneday, but Bariss was never evil, so glad they subverted expectations.

Episode 4 is masterpiece. As viewers, we are filled with dread. We know exactly where Barriss is, we understand the Inquisitors ruthlessness, and we are acutely aware of Vader's proximity, with his palace on Mustafar.
We are like Dante, fearful and submissive.
Meanwhile, Barriss: complete calm, meditating. She is merely confused, seeking answers, but of all the characters, she is the most prepared.
When Vader enters, Barriss shows no excitement or fear, simply responding with the most neutral, "Long live the Empire."
I really liked the training with the Grand Inquisitor:
    - Initially, Barriss uses her classic Soresu.
    - Then she switches to a slightly provocative Makashi.
    - She switches to Ataru, striking a pose identical to Ahsoka’s.
    - Finally, Djem So, relying on physical strength and powerful strikes.
At that moment, I literally asked that question: Who taught you this? Certainly not Luminara. The answer is likely Anakin.
Additionally, I loved how Barriss was treated like a VIP or tourist within the Inquisitors. Everyone knew she had killed Jedi, assuming she wanted to join them so they don't want to hurt her. Despite Barriss clearly questioning the Inquisitors' actions, they were so eager to recruit her that they overlooked numerous red flags. They made the same mistake as the Jedi, which is both ironic and just beautiful.
Barriss, however, did not repeat her past mistake. Instead of fighting evil at all costs and ignoring her own feelings, she simply let go and walked away. For the first time, she would truly be free, not forced to follow others, and she would be what she always wanted to be: not a weapon, but a healer.
    Regarding her supposed death:
On one hand, there's a scene suggesting her last breath, while on the other, potencial Force Heal. There are no clear answers, leaving fans with speculation.
Over half the fans believe Barriss is still alive.
Additionally, Wookieepedia does not confirm her death, and even interviews with the actress imply that she herself is unsure if it's a death scene.
This character returns after 11 years to get the most anticlimactic death scene and what kind of death is it if so many fans don't believe it?
Personally, I consider this scene a huge flaw because I prefer to have answers rather than speculate. I just don't like scenarios where the show ends with a potential death, but I don't know if it's death.
Another little flaw is the absence of Luminara. I had hoped that the line from The Rise of Skywalker, "In the night, find the light," would be her final words to Barriss.

"I just don't like scenarios where the show ends with a potential death, but I don't know if it's death." Totally. My guess is that Dave already has plans or will make plans to have her show up in something else, perhaps in Ahsoka Season 2? Who knows.

I’m not sure if it’s canon but there was a novel called Medstar II: Jedi Healer which was all about Bariss. I really liked it. It made her fall in clone wars to be so disappointing.
I was so happy to see her turn back to the light. I really liked her story here and hope she returns.
While I appreciated Morgans’s story arc, I’m not really a fan of her character.

5:50 Vader is not concerned at all with Barris's and Anakin's past. That name no longer has any meaning to him.

15:08 Were you seriously trying to think of who she was talking about?😊

    • @kaiielle
      @kaiielle  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

YES, only because I was thinking of whether it would make sense that Ahsoka would forgive her for the hell that Barriss had put her through.

    • @hehu4025
      @hehu4025 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@kaiielle The book gives a suggestion of forgiveness. In a way, Organa used Barriss as an argument to recruit Ahsoka:
      Ahsoka ignited her lightsabers.
"They feel familiar, if I had to guess I would say they were looted from the Jedi temple itself." - Ahsoka
"That raises a very uncomfortable possibilities. Not to mention the host of potencial dangers for a Jedii Padawan." - Bail
"I'm not a Padawan anymore Senator and it's not seve to be Ahsoka Tano" - Ahsoka
"Barriss Offee was wrong about a lot of things. She let her anger cloud her judgment and she tried to justify her actions without considering their wider effects. She was afraid of the war and she didn't trust people she should've listened to. But she had a point about the Republic and the Jedi. There was something wrong with them, and we were too locked into our traditions to see what it was. Barriss should've done something else. She shouldn't have killed anyone, and she definitely shouldn't have framed me for it, but if we'd listened to her-really listened-we might have been able to stop Palpatine before he took power. " - Ahsoka
"The Chancelor playd his hand very well. He kept us busy jumping at shadows that we didn't notice which of the shadows were real." - Bail
"I thought I was done with the war but meybe I don't know how to do anything else. I tried to cut myself off but I keep getting drawn back in." - Ahsoka
"I think that you and I are meant to focus on the present"- Bail
"What do you mean?" - Ahsoka
"In this fight there will be people like Barriss who are focused on the past, and there will be other people who focus strongly on the future neither of them is wrong exacly but even if we don't always walk the same path as one another ours must be a middle road." - Bail
"That was what I thought when I was trying to find the cristals that power my lightsabers. I didn't want to be alone but I didn't want to be a general or even a Padawan anymore. I want somethink midle of that, still useful but diffrent than before." - Ahsoka
What is clear is that Ahsoka understood Barriss. However, understanding and forgiveness are two very different things.
Real forgiveness and rebuilding the trust and sisterly bond between them will be extremely difficult, and the wound caused by the betrayal may never fully heal.
To emphasize this, we only need to recall Ahsoka's conversation with Sabine. The fact that Ahsoka still mentions these events after so many years shows that it still hurts her and remains her greatest trauma.
