So happy to see this great review. Drove a CX-70 today and plan on purchasing within the week. Trading my 2016 CX-5 with almost 224k miles. Best car I've ever owned and I'm really looking forward to more space and power in the 70.
My only real gripe is the pricing which is virtually identical to a comparably equipped three row (and more expensive if you choose the base 90). It does have a lower cargo cubby in place of the third row, but honestly I don’t see that being too often used so really a CX90 with the third row folded is probably the vehicle to have if someone even might need that passenger space but once a year.
@ALMX5DP I just wish you could get the cx90 but with all the cx70 cosmetics in the top trim. They are adding the cosmetics for 25 on the cx90, but not in the top trim.

Just purchased a CX-70 Signature (Canadian version of the premium turbo s plus) yesterday - I can’t wait to pick it up next week. The only negative is that we can’t get the melted copper metallic exterior colour in Canada, but the red metallic with this interior is a great combo for this model. We tried various other vehicles before deciding on this (Honda Pilot, Passport and a Lexus RX350) but the drivability and the amount of features for the price can’t be matched…….plus they just look great. Excellent review by the way!

Hey Ryan, after 12 subarus, and no more autox, I picked mine up 2 weeks ago. When this came on my feed to watch, I'm like, yep. Yep. yep. Everything you said, including the suede, wifes shoes sometimes touch the dash. (dark brown/blackish) So I got a turbo S premium (no suede, and no 120 in the hatch, like... that's it) and, it's got everything in the on road dynamics department that make it a comfortable "GT" suv. I looked at many cars in my search and ... this was the absolute winner. Price/value, and ... again, driving dynamics. Subaru can't touch this right now, and I'm just done with CVT. (I wish manuals were a thing still). Plenty of room for my pups, or golf gear. :) I picked it over a Land Cruiser because of the dogs... it doesn't have that extra shelf for them to jump over into the hatch, and is slightly lower. Same issue with the higher trim/more powerful 4runners coming soon... Also, lots of room under the entire floor (you didn't lift the whole floor up, it goes all the way to the back seats, lots of under-floor storage since no 3rd row)
I agree with this Model Selection.... Premium Plus with the Turbo S . I intend to test drive one in the near future as a replacement possibility for my expired 22 Acura MDX Advance lease which I just extended for 6 months. Why the ELS system was Fantastic), a interior Light Show with changing colors (which I have very rarely used) BUT with a Good Acura 3.5L V-6 Engine with 45 Less HP and over 50 lbs Torque than the CX-70 for $68K vs $58K!! I’m pretty sure he liked the transmission more because its not a phev. The problem with their phev design is that it has double clutch and you feel it. Cx70 phev owner here and yes the transmission is not ideal. Can’t compare to cx90 but I think it should be similar. The double clutch makes ev mode much more efficient though because of transmission. The handling on the road is really sick though. Very surprising for a vehicle of this size
I would love to take my 2017 Touareg through your off-road course. This Mazda seems like a competitor to that car (ignoring the 7 year age difference haha).
We drive two 2016 Touareg TDI's for work and I don't know if they are comparable to this. I love them! But they handle a bit clumsily and are MUCH smaller than this.
This vehicle is way more compelling at the lowest trim where it provides genuine competition against something like the Honda Passport. $60K is just insane for a Mazda.
The lower trim levels compete with Honda, Toyota. The higher trim competes with Acura Lexus and Infiniti which in my opinion it's better than anything they make they don't have a vehicle with a inline 6 rwd bias with awd. Mazda cx70 and cx90 are the best vehicles coming out of Japan and loaded for 55k might be the best vehicle value of any make.
Good review. I suppose it isn't necessary to do a second review on the CX-90 since all the changes to the 70 will also apply to the 90. Even on this 70, the exterior color is great, but the velvety. dash...nah. Likely to get the '25 CX-90 next spring/summer. Thanks again for the review.
So I just went to the Mazda dealer today and looked at the CX 70 and I got to say although it’s a beautiful SUV it is huge even without the third row. He forgot to mention. You phone will slip out of the charger when turning. The cup holders are not deep enough. The armrest storage bins are small capacity. Mazda still keeps cupholders in the rear of the CX-70, without the 3rd row seating.
Does it have auto braking in reverse? Also road noise level? Does it have acoustic side glass. Also at what speed does the auto braking work up to? I have an Outback xt limited currently. The only thing missing is handling.

Firstly, some things that I agree with: I prefer rear-biased AWD & longitudinal drivetrains also; I don’t think the Premium Plus trim is worth it for the Nappa leather and Alcantara (what all the reviewers have called suede because that’s just *1* syllable). What I disagree with: the color black would be better? Dealers think so, since I had to order 1 to get Melting Copper Metallic Premium in Greige. It was even worse with used vehicles I’ve cross-shopped like BMW X5; probably 90% black/black (hot in summer, cold in winter and slippery 100% of the time!) and 10% white ext./black int. Why don’t some other colors exist? Mazda’s Soul Red Crystal Metallic is great (even with some orange-peel effect; just check out old BMWs’ red paint), and Mazda has a blood red leather interior option as well (I think that may be Premium Plus trim only, as well, not sure). 2nd thing in this video: I like that you actually test SUVs off-road, but as you well know, crossover vehicles built on a car chassis will not do as well as a “true” SUV built on stout truck chassis

and warning ?????????????????
Anyone who needs these things should NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE !!!!!
Make one like 4Runner mazda capable
No ambient lighting?
