I’m a 73 year old man. I have listened to this song thousands of times, and I puddle up every time I hear it. So please tell your daughter that it’s okay to cry a little bit. Bobby Hatfield had unparalleled vocals.
bobby is easily our humanity's greatest singer to ever live, it couldn't be more obvious! no one has ever even come close to this level of effortless raw talent. especially live! control, range, everything!
I hear this again and again, and the tears come. I saw this that night in 1965 on the Andy Williams Show. Never forgot it. I fell in love...as did every other woman in America. I call this "Bobbys Song."❤❤❤
How many people can hit those high notes, male or female, without showing extreme effort? Bobby looks so relaxed as he hits those notes without any apparent real effort. He makes it looks so easy, although we all know it is anything but easy. His voice is so soft and calming, yet attention getting! Bobby Hatfield was a master vocalist, and owns this song!
This brings back so many memories! I was in a guard tower on the South China Sea,, listening to it on a transistor radio. I was engaged to my wife of 45 years! She was my rock!
Awww...the late Bobby Hatfield. I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965 when I was 15 yrs old. He owns this song. No one ever sang it he did. No auto tune. Pure raw talent!!! RIP Bobby. We miss you! 💖🙏
This is a LIVE performance, and, before there was auto-tune and other computer aids. Just pure talent. Many covers done of this song, but Bobby Hatfield (RIP) owns it!!
Wow!!! Not only is Bobby Hatfield beautiful, his voice is amazing. What a brilliant awesome performance; such emotion; if you don’t feel it you must be comatose.
Sweet, charming, handsome and talented Bobby touching women's hearts over 50 years later. I listen to him sing this daily and lo and behold it is a better version than the studio recording. Bobby knocked it outta the park so far no one can or ever has been able to out perform him on this one. RIP Bobby Hatfield you are missed.
Yes, we really miss Bobby and his glorious voice!! I was overwhelmed with sadness when I heard of his untimely death. He died alone in his hotel room just a short time before he and Bill were to go on stage. Think how shocked Bill must have been that night!!!!!
He was perfection. I think God sent him down here so we could have somebody to sing the song to sing with all their heart to sound like velvet to be a true countertenor. Bobby Hatfield was all those things today he’s the greatest singer than I’ve ever heard.
I am 81 and have heard several artists before Bobby’s version and several after. No one comes close to this, Bobby owns it. This version came out as I was headed for Viet Nam. You can feel the loneliness in the words and the way we felt as we were away from our families for one long year. Bill and Bobby always did one solo on each of their albums and while on tour. They both wanted to do “Unchained”, so they flipped a coin. The music was written as the theme for the little-known prison film “Unchained” (January 1955), hence the song title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by the Righteous Brothers. The movie “Unchained” is about a man in prison and longing for his wife and children. Hoping his wife will still be there when he gets out. So you can now understand the meaning of the song. The movie was not very good, or so my friends told me. But we were all teenagers so what did we know. Several artists sang it and it made the billboard top 100. But no one can come close to Bobby Hatfield’s version. Bobby’s version hit the top ten chart. And did it again when it was used in the movie “Ghost” It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by Bobby. According to the song's publishing administrator, over 1,500 recordings of "Unchained Melody" have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages.
Thank you for giving the performer the big screen. Talented heartthrob Bobby knocked this one out of the park (he was also a baseball player). A love song still melting hearts over 50+ years later. RIP Bobby Hatfield you are missed by us boomers you represented with your talent, charm and music.
To repeat an earlier Comment....THANKS for giving Bobby the largest part of your screen. It really added to the quality of your Reaction. Your speechlesness is Totally Understandable. Bobby Hatfield's performance here...is off the charts AMAZING. We are so lucky this was preserved...for all of us to experience.
Aw, the music of my teenage years. This was a live performance on the Andy Williams show, no auto tune. His parents were in the audience and he had a cold. I believe his voice was counter tenor. No falsetto but pure talent.
I agree!! So i know he was a tenor and countertenor. And he studied music and met bill viseting a party and they sang the first time together.greating from Germany
So awesome that music is so powerful that all these years later!! (and after we've lost this great talent! RIP BOBBY HATFIELD ❤🙏❤) Your daughter has a lovely personality!🥰
I wasnt even a thought in my dads mind yet when this came out......but have heard the best music this planet has produced because my parents played just about everything.....40s 50s 60s ....country thru pop and rock....im 54 now....
Your daughter is so sweet the way she reacted to his singing. Love her she and you are special glad I found your reaction God bless you both and your family
No auto-tune, we didn't need it! We had talent, back in the day! This one man, Bobby Hatfield, had talent and honed his craft to perfection! Today's singers do not have to struggle to try to attain perfection, because they know that perfection, or someting that is considered close to perfect, can be reached through some type of musical enhancement such as AUTO-TUNE! This song was wonderful and he was not alone in striving to be the best he possibly could be! Most successful singers or entertainers, struggled to attain greatness! Most of them did not reach it; but a few did! The Righteous Brothers and ELVIS PRESLEY are two Musical Sensations that lived up to their name! They BOTH took it to the heights of what was successful at the time! They have lasted and remain completely unbeatable, memorable, and remarkable! ALMOST 50 years after ELVIS sang his last notes live, he is still in demand. It is the same with the wonderful Righteous Brothers. Now, an entirely new generation has the opportunity to discover the MUSIC that was revolutionized by the singers that began in the 1950's and 1960's! They were SPECTACULAR! ❤ 😅 ❤
This was so sweet❤ I too have my daughter listen to songs and watch movies with me from before she was born that almost always make her cry. I can see you's have a great relatioship. Love it! Very heart warming 😊
His mother was sitting behind him,he suffered severe stage fright, and had a cold when this was recorded. No auto tune, computers,or any other "gimmicks".Legendary performance!!! Let's see YE top this lol
Great reaction. And the young lady is so sweet. I hope she remembers this song when her true love is away in the future. A reminder to her just how special a person can. She'll know. For now the tears were appreciated by an old man that cried to that same song when I was her age. Best wishes to you all.
Come on dad, when I first heard it, it brought tears to my eyes. good songs make you have a physical reaction. That is how I know to love a song bc it gives something to me.
I always enjoy watching the younger generations reaction to songs from the prehistoric age of Rock n Roll. How well I remember. Thank you for bringing back many memories.
I sang this to my wife at our wedding in 1983. She, however she said I murdered it. I'm guessing it's not a song for a baritone, she told me I was of better sticking to my drumming. I thought it was an appropriate song as I was in the Royal Marine Commandos, I had returned from the war for the Falkland Islands when I proposed, and now was shipping out to Sierra Leone two days later, so much for my attempt at being romantic. On the upside she liked me in my Dress Uniform, and having my comrades forming the sword tunnel helped. I must have done something right because we're still together. With 4 children, 7 grandchildren and a great grandson, we got busy on baby's when I was home. I served on active duty for my late Queen and Country for 34 years as a Royal Marine Commandos and in the British Special Forces, and then 3 years in hospital, and she stuck by me even though I'm wheelchair bound now. We do actually have a song by Queen called "Your Me Best Friend", a very apt song as she has been my best friend since we were both 15, and that's when I fell for her.
`This is considered by many in the music industry as one of the greatest live performances in television history ever! Done 57 years ago on the 'Andy Williams Show' (1965). Bobby Hatfield Tenor voice of 'The Righteous Brothers' did not even strain himself when hitting the last note. It was effortless. Awesome!
Fantastic singer Bobby. Amazingly and outstandingly good luve performance of Bobby! Yeah till now this song of him is my favorite and have fallen for him. May he rest in peace. His legacy has remained in our hearts, now senior yet still crying with this version of Unchained Melody. Thanks for playing more than interuppting this great love song.
No one since or ever will sing this like Bobby. I remember when i first heard it back in the 60s. Just magical, how he hits those high notes. Like another commenter said, perfection!
One of the greatest live performances of all time. This song was covered by more than 670 artists but this is the gold standard. Very sad when Bobby passed in 2003. I dont get the laughing from your friend but hey, it’s your channel.
Great presentation. So many reactors give just a small thumbnail viewing of the artist and the screen is filled with the reactors. It's like they think they are more important. Thank you Dad and daughter. If it wasn't for You-tube, people would just forget about this music. Romance, beauty, beautiful lyrics that we can actually hear is pretty much gone today.
The one and only
Hundreds have sang this song. It was absolutely written for Bobby Hatfield!
One man. One mic. One song. One take. Perfection.

Daughter's reaction was ever more emotional than anyone expected!

His daughter is such a cold gold person Haystak never have been on it and of you
Bobby was 25 yrs old and his parents were in the audience for the first time. He ROCKED it!
I always heard his mom was there. His dad was there too? They must have been so proud. You know they cried. 😊
Very good I said.😊❤😮
He also had a cold.
I hear this again and again, and the tears come. I saw this that night in 1965 on the Andy Williams Show. Never forgot it. I fell in love...as did every other woman in America. I call this "Bobbys Song."❤❤❤
Da kann man ja quittegelb vor Neid werden, wieviel Bobby gesehen haben....😮
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
They call this Blue Eyed Soul. This song will always be Bobby's no matter who else tries to sing it.
I agree!!!
Even Elvis could not match Bobby when he sang it.
Blue eyed soul has always been.
HE WAS AND WILL ALWAYS REMAIN #1
Absolutely, the polar opposite of easy.
Dressed to the nines.
Mom in attendance.
Blow the roof off the joint.
(Amazing what the human voice is capable of.)
Shes sooo sweet. Nearly 60 years later and Bobbys magic hasnt lost a beat..
This song has been covered many times, but no one has done it better than Bobby Hatfield.
I have the urge to do it myself, despite the fact that I know I won't come close to him, just because it's FUN to sing it.
Elvis sang this song, and did pretty good..But not even close to Bobby Hatfield...
True. Bobby did it better than anyone else…..by far.
AMEN! NO ONE DOES IT BETTER THAN BOBBY HATFIELD. GOD REST HIS SOUL.
Bobby Hatfield: a voice from heaven, sent to us to hear.
This was a masterpiece performed by Mr. Bobby Hatfield. Perfection, and nobody has come even close to him.
Er war da auch an Schönheit nicht zu übertreffen.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
The only other person is his brother. They were amazing!!! 🤩 ❤
I'm not judging, but she looks like she's in to that Goth mess! I'm just saying!

This brings back so many memories! I was in a guard tower on the South China Sea,, listening to it on a transistor radio. I was engaged to my wife of 45 years! She was my rock!
A man, a mike, a TV studio audience (including his mum) and an orchestra.
No studio, no autotune, just talent. He nailed it!! You will not see better.
We completely agree
Makes me cry..,every time!
Awww...the late Bobby Hatfield. I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965 when I was 15 yrs old. He owns this song. No one ever sang it he did. No auto tune. Pure raw talent!!! RIP Bobby. We miss you! 💖🙏
I was only 11…still cry at this!
Me, too!

Bobby probably never knew the impact he would have on the young people of today-with this 🎶 song!😊

I wish he was still here to see the generational acceptance of his voice...RIP Bobby.
P. S. Thanks Dad for showing the world what is much needed. Indeed a song of class.
It's so beautiful that she cried. I've cried watching this song. It was amazing.
Don't worry about crying. Everyone cries. This version of this song with Bobby's talent is vocal romance.
Her reactions at the end . Too perfect.
He was perfection. I think God sent him down here so we could have somebody to sing the song to sing with all their heart to sound like velvet to be a true countertenor. Bobby Hatfield was all those things today he’s the greatest singer than I’ve ever heard.
It is a beautiful song, gets me every time and makes it harder not to feel emotional seeing people break while watching this, it's beautiful

Now she needs to hear "You Lost That Lovin Feeling" and "Soul and Inspiration".
They were great songs by the duo but they’re not in the category of unchained melody
Don't feel bad, I cried listening to this version of Unchained Melody, too.
The great voice is just purely amazing, I love this version best, I have heard others before him but Bobby hit every note...
Great reaction. And the young lady is so sweet. I hope she remembers this song when her true love is away in the future. A reminder to her just how special a person can. She'll know. Great reaction! Nice to share w the younger generation.
Daughter,,,,,,, NO ONEHAS PERFORMED THIS SONG BETTER,,, EVER.
I always enjoy watching the younger generations reaction to songs from the prehistoric age of Rock n Roll. How well I remember. Thank you for bringing back many memories.
You can tell this is a letter of love and if that don't get the message across, then that doesn't leave much room for the rest of us romantics.
Oo, you make me live, now honey!

BOBBY HATFIELD WAS THE BEST SINGER TO EVER LIVE. NO ONE WILL BEAT THIS PERIOD.
your daughters reaction and tears was what all young girls felt when in the arms of their boy friend
Breathtakingly magnificent, and yes the meaning behind it makes it even more magnificent, if it’s even possible.
Loved her reaction! And that's what watching Reaction Videos is all about. Good stuff guys
Dad, as you have learned, no matter the age, people know good music and appreciate great music.
A marvellous presentation of singer, song, self & daughter, your interactive humour had me giggling hard!_ wonderful.
Nobody can never sing this song like
Bobby. R.I.P. bobby.
Your voice lives on❤
This might be the best live version of a song ever recorded for posterity. It's certainly up there. Just amazing vocals.
i was 17 in 1965, and we went to dances, if you got lucky to find a partner to dance with this song would melt her . lol
And in '69 you were 21.
(Reminds me of a song...)
I think this has got to be in my top ten songs of all time. So so good. Dang. That made me cry though. I’ve never heard it live before.
One of the greatest live performances of all time. This song was covered by more than 670 artists but this is the gold standard. Very sad when Bobby passed in 2003. I dont get the laughing from your friend but hey, it’s your channel.
His daughter is blown away. A common reaction to this performance is near speechlessness.
it makes me cry every time, and im a 70 year old man.
That is some beautiful music way back in the sixties I remember that song it's one of my favorites
Such a sad song-masterfully sung, beautiful man.
Pure top shelf.
She tried so hard to not like it! So cute. I was your age when he was around! Fantastic.
Great presentation. So many reactors give just a small thumbnail viewing of the artist and the screen is filled with the reactors. It's like they think they are more important.
