Thanks for posting this. There aren't many videos about how to take this machine apart and put it back together. I'm still a bit confused about where all of the screw locations are, though. If I counted correctly, there are 11 screws holding the top cover onto the head, but the video would have been better if you could have taken a moment to point them out specifically without reassembling everything at the same time.
I have been struggling to open this up as I need access to the motor and PCB. I couldn't find the final screw that was holding it together... Many thanks for pointing out the hidden screw at the front.
Good video! I tried dismantling mine tonight before watching your video and missed a few of those small screws - couldn't for the life of me crack that thing open, so a big thank you for putting this one together. You probably saved me hours of pain with this as I'd started it at night so tired, failing light and all that. Thumbs up from me.
Yours actually looks like it's going pretty good. I have the NV800 model and I'm currently waiting for the epoxy to dry. The connectors are made of rubber and the hose just slips out when reinstalling it unless I use some sort of glue.
You must have ordered the wrong hose. I would never have glued it in. If it breaks again you're never going to get it out. You'll need to replace the whole head of the vaccum. To anyone who reads this, never use glue. These hoses are not heavy duty and will need replacement every couple years.
I've tried cleaning my Duo (IC160UKT), cleaned all the pipes that area accessible and pulled out some lumps. taken out rollers, filters and cleaned replaced. I've stuck a wire up from the roller section and nothing stuck. It switches on, it picks up (kind of) but it's not actually going into the dust collector and it's not spinning around in there. And the airway that goes into the dust collector is in-accesible. About to chuck it away at this point...
Check your hoses for blockages before you do this. My hoses were all clear but the centre metal wand shaft (to handle) was packed solid with dirt causing no pick-up. Took five minutes to dig it out. Four year old Shark NV680uk.
Sure, and I found one on ebay from UK seller roberthogg2410. Took me a while to find too & don't understand why there isn't an OEM part readily available. Good luck!
It'll be easier to use a long shaft stabalone Phillips screwdrive instead of a screwdriver that incorporates at bit changing attachment that creates an obstacle by increasing the diameter at the end of the shaft.
I did exactly this and put it all back together bo problem , no left over screws for once , and now my motor that spins the brush , doesn't turn on when I switch the button , it does if I lean it over and give it a jump start by spinning it with my fingers fast , then its sort of like a variable motor and not the same speed all the time , and then it starts smelling and turn off, and the red light comes off , then switch hoover off and do it all again , starts of the jump start and then dies , any help is greatly appreciated and also does anyone know if the nv680ukt head fits the nv680ukv hoover , looks the same and same fitting ,
Hi Jay, so initially sounds like either something is fouling the brush bar or it's mechanism, or the motor is on the way out. When repairing mine I did note some of the wires are fairly exposed and possible to catch when taking apart & putting back together... it's worth checking this too just in case. I'm not sure on the head swap; my experience in the past is manufacturers do often change sometimes even subtle things between model numbers that have a material impact on being able to put it back to together. If you can get something second hand could be worth a try, and always sell on if it doesn't work. Good luck!
@@diydick434 I think the motor is on its way out ive ordered a whole new head but the same pipe needs replacing i hope its not something I did to brake the motor because if it is it will happen to this head aswell, I have had the vacuum 4 years though ....
Hello. That's right - one of the main keys I used was a T20 Torx key. I would however recommend getting a set of both Standard Hex & Torx Keys - 7/8 pieces in each set would cover most tasks. You can pick them up from the usual DIY chains and come in useful for all manner of jobs over time. Good luck!
Here is a link to the Torx set ($12.99 US) on Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MFGRZIA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And the handle ($10.00 US): www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E62NIC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You made this much more difficult than it had to be. You don't remove the top piece the clear tube screws into. You only remove the bottom one near the head. Then you screw it into the top piece with it still in the vacuum. I just watched an 8 minute video where he did just that. It would have been more helpful if you had started at disassembly instead of the middle, messed up assembly then fixing the mistakes. There is such a thing as editing. My husband said your video should be called how not to replace the hose.
Hey Donna: did you have safety screws? mine has star shaped safety screws and I have no idea where to get a tool to unscrew them, or even what they're called.... do you know?
The shark is a good design, but a poor quality. I bought the machine it's a wonderful design but very bad quality, the machine didn't even last one year!! I called for the warranty and the told me they only cover the motor!! Nothing else!! I told them that I purchased even the extra warranty, they told me only motor for a longer period of time. That's a scammer, they put a lot of BS and at the end they told me only motor!! I opend the machine and found that the body of the machine next to the brush get melted. And I need to replace the whole head unit!! Very bad customer service.
I cant find a vid for my shark , my hose is burst too ( bad design me thinks ) Am having bother getting bits apart a nightmare . Put back together buying a new one instead.

Thanks for the detail about the spring....it was the only part I couldt figure out as ut fell out whem taking apart😀
Thanks so much, just had to do the same fix on my Shark this morning, watching your video made it so much easier for me🙂👍

Those hidden screw had me as well, thanks for a very useful vid.

Glad this helped you. They certainly make it tricky to do!
Thanks for this very helpful. I used your video in replacing lower hose on a 681 model. (I found the hose from Bartyspares via Amazon UK).
Do you have a part number for the hose?

Four year old Shark NV680uk.
Same here. I think caused by a split hose therefore reducing suction
Hi trying to replace the hose just now, and a spring popped as I opens the front any idea where it goes large spring about inch long?
Mate, Could you please guide me to where you purchased that lower hose from? I am also having trouble finding the proper diameter. Ty
